No need to apply the array modifier, by the way :) You could even add a curve modifier to the chain, and then set the array modifier to add as many links as necessary to get to the curve's length

Thanks! Edit: For a lighter-weight solution than the frozen torus geometry, you can make the chain-link itself using a curve as well - split a circle in two, duplicate, join the vertices - then you can adjust as needed.
Wow, I always figured there would be a lot more involved with making chains. Thank you so much, I learned several things from this video! However when I did it myself, I discovered there is one problem that messes up the symmetry between the two curves, so that the left loop here has fewer faces that make up the loop. You can see this asymmetry in the top down view when you stretch the right side. The reason is that when it was still a torus, you had a center seam instead of a center face. You dragged one side of the seam, which deformed the faces immediately to the left of the seam, causing the left loop section to be slightly asymmetrical to the right loop, with a fewer total number of faces. What I did to correct this, is to have a center face between the two loops rather than edge seam, so that the center face stretches instead, causing both loops to stay symmetrical with an equal number of faces on them. Other than that, thank you!
Question: As soon as you parent the chain to the curve, you see a dotted line appear from the left most end of the curve (in this case, running right on the x-axis). If you select the curve and go into edit mode to change the shape of the chain... when you select the end point of the curve and move it, the chain goes flying off the curve. Why is that and is there any way to remedy that? Edit: I just learned it's the origin of the object (chain), but still... the same problem. I can't touch that outer most anchor point.
I keep getting an issue where I follow this and its fine being on the world origin but whenever I want to move the chain up to another place, it just doesn't allow me to move it as the chain goes everywhere. Is there a way to say do it here then move it up so I can bend it around a T-Shirt or create a necklace?
this really helped me a lot but... How to animate it? I tried to keyframe Curve points but it's won't work! Do you have any suggestion Can I animate to curves ?
is there any way to fix the mesh to the shape it's changed into? I'm trying to make a necklace but every time I try to join the meshes the pendant flys off somewhere
When I'm editing the curve in edit mode, it's my screen is glitching. I get random color blocks while moving the curve. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Dont you need to apply to set the origin to the center of the length of the chain?
Why do you want to set the origin to something else at all?

easy to follow. I got rlly fascinated by the thumbnail. Would appreciate a tutorial of how to get the final aesthetic result
BEST VIDEO OF CHAINS
Awesome! Easy to follow and it actually works. Noodles!
This is going big I can feel it
I really appreciate that! Manifesting it🤞
this is the gayest thing ive heard on a blender tutorial

Just tried this in 4.0. is crushes the links into pluses instead of binding the chain to the curve
Thank you! :)
Awesome! Thanks man.
Thank you sir my noodles also say thanks
thank you so much brother! ┃ chains...
Thank you xx
Thanks a lot mate ❤️🔥
Well made
Thanks!
I did the curve deform but the chain got STRETCHED.
Good vid. Thanks
it workssssss ty
Can you make a closed circle out of and even have the freedom to change the link count?
pro and simple
*"Noodles" 😂*
thanks bro 🍜

Can you animate this? The Single Verticies I mean
Hello , in blender 4.0 when i move the torus it doesnt extrude like that ?
For some reason I can't adjust the curve in edit mode with the 2 axis points. Is there a hotkey I should use?
Use pen marker tool.
Yo nice tutorial but i cant figure out how to add more curve points to my bezier curve any help ?
Select both points, right click, and then click subdivide.
Noodles… yes.
Yes.

how did you color model the chain?
Bending the Chain is a Nightmare to figure out (Still haven't figured it out)
Get the newer version
Noodles.
Yes.
1:40 wwoooahh slowdown there boy, wtf did you press yo?
edit: "go to the curve.." - you mean, go into edit mode?
jesus christ buddy
🍜 🍜
This doesn’t work. :/
Lies I just did it
@@3valastingstudios spent like an hour tryna make it work. Did everything right. Maybe my blender is bugged
@@gregoryspersonalbodyguard nah u right I made the chain but was unable to make it bend or curve and I did everything too 😒
@@3valastingstudiosI did it and it worked fine, try applying scale
Try it again, you probably miss a step, did something additional, or something else. Just give it another try! 🙂
doesnt work
