Excellent video! The prominent hill of East Lomond was definitely visible from all three sites, and checking with software simulations it appears that the summer solstice sun would have set to the right of the hill, thus marking that period of the year once the sun passed the hill. From the mortuary enclosure the exact center of the sun 1/16th of a year before/after summer solstice would have set along the slope of the hill, bisecting the sun exactly in half. From the original setting of the stone circle (before it was moved) this same 1/16th pre-solstice position (corresponding today to about June 2 or July 10 due to orbital changes) may have marked the last/first day the sun would set into the hill without appearing on the right-hand slope OR it may have even peeked out to flash briefly a second time to the right after setting.

Brilliant video! Loads of information, i used to play round them as a kid. Might take my kids for a walk up there today, keep traditions going. The hills are called Lomond

Recent Glenrothes, Cadham fire crews are thugs in uniform, although many years ago most trained at Thornton were very nice. Today they are evil monsters, arrogant, loud-mouthed idiots. They'll break into a private house, break down a gate to put out smoldering embers in a composter and, threaten police charges coming immediately. Today these Glenrothes Fireteams are worse than the worst of the police murderers who killed Sheku Bayoh and left his poor family struggling with their loss. Scotland isn't what it used to be but Glenrothes is an evil place. evoboatsfm.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_15.html

I wonder what happened to the stones that aren’t visible?

Hi Derek, probably dragged away, broken up or perhaps under the ground waiting to be excavated.
