I love Hourglass but not gonna lie I overall like the cheek area on the drugstore side 🤔 also that Maybelline lip is one of my favorite formulas of any high end or drugstore it feels AMAZING on. Definitely not like a traditional liquid lip. They have gorgeous colors and don’t accentuate fine lines. Thanks for this, great video!

Definitely high end side has better bronzer, blush and highlighter work. It looks pristine and more polished while the drugstore side looks a bit worn out, pale, not giving enough.” And the lips on high end side look juicier and smoother. Beside brows everything else looks so similar. I wonder how it wears after few hours and specially in hot weather or if active a lot

@@tracevicente It kind of does. What it more does for me is brighten and even out the coloration! I use the Tom Ford highlight shade in the Shade and Illuminate duo for the same thing. It also makes my concealer go on smoother

Hi. I think the drugstore side looks amazing, it looks so natural and healthy. Of course the luxury one looks great, the only thing I don't necessarily like as much is the blush on the luxury side. Seems too much for my taste.
I use the cream blush from Fenty and like that it looks like magic to me. So I must be subjective and mostly like the natural vibe of it. You look awesome no matter the brand. ❤

Thx Nikki - my preference is the drug store side. The elf halo glow colour looked more complimentary to your skin tone and went on very smooth on camera. I also preferred the Maybelline lip - but tbf it was the colour that did it for me! Thx for helping us save our pennies xx

The NYX epic ink liner or the physicians formula liner are amazing!
I use a subtle highlighter from Ulta. I love the Nude Essence Highlighter. It’s so perfect for my face!! I have a very round face so contour, bronzer and highlight are a mandatory part of my daily makeup. I have used lipstick 💄 for a quick blush before cream blushes became the rage. I use a powder blush over my cream blushes. I have combo skin so if I don’t use a little powder, my makeup disappears
So I have to say that I really enjoy watching your tutorials they are so informative and educational. I am definitely not a pro at all but I experiment all the time on my face. Your voice is really a calm voice like you can do commercials or radio lol. I Enjoy your page and thank you for being such a wonderful teacher 🙌🙌
There is other Colourpop palette that can match the I Need a Nude and it’s the 11-11. I discovered this from Jen Phelps. It isn’t a shade for shade but there are enough to do a beautiful look. You might want to watch Jen’s video. Also I love the Milan’s Conceal and Correct foundation. I remember the the first reviews were not good. I don’t remember the specifics but I have always loved it. I can do without concealer usually. Thanks for your great videos.

As a 44yr old with dry skin I love the Milani eyeshadow primer. Most eye primers I hate but the milani one smooths out my eyelids so well.

The Maybelline fitme loose powder is excellent and maybe would have given Givenchy more of a run for its money.

The Milani eyeshadow primer has always worked great for me but it takes a very small amount to make it work the best. I have applied too much and it definitely will cause creasing if you don’t use a very small amount. I typically use about a pea size amount and press it between my two ring fingers and that is enough for both eyes.
The Milani brow pencil is a great benefit alternative. I love the precisely my brow but Milani is right up there. Tiny tip, not too creamy and slippery. It’s perfect.
Hi Nikki, I really like the way you simplify make up and make it less terrorising for women like me. One question - what do you think of Clinique foundation and concealers? Are they better to use instead of the ones created by pure makeup up brands? I don’t use make up on a daily basis. So was wondering from a skin care point of view.
Best affordable drugstore, but it rivals ALL HIGH-END BROW PENCILS, is New "Covergirl Clean Fresh BROW". It's a 1mm nano pencil. It comes it several colors so you will be able to find a match. It's basically the same as NEW by Benefit, "Prescisely, My Brow Detailer". More than less of the costs, I think it's under 8$. It has baby pink packaging. There are two new ones that look alike. Make sure you get the smaller looking BROW pencil. The other one is for more filling and not as much for detailing. You are welcome! 😊❤

I feel like the ELF has a bit more glow & coverage the CT. Not a lot but noticeable on my skin.
As someone who refuses to pay exorbitant prices for makeup/beauty products - unnecessarily- these kinds of videos are very eye-opening and helpful! Thanks.
The only difference I see is the blush slightly more pigmented for the Hourglass. I have the same Hourglass palette and many Milani blushes, I love them all. I also have the Rimmel bronzer: excellent as their face powders. I don’t have this specific Colourpop palette but I have another one and it’s true that their eyeshadows are excellent. I have the Milani eye primer, you must put a teeny tiny bit with your finger, but actually I often forget to use it. I will finish it but I don’t think that it’s absolutely necessary to have it. I have another Neutrogena concealer that I love, in a tube. I love it so much that I bought a spare one. The Essence mascara is great but it flakes on me too. It’s a pity because I absolutely love it.
...and the drugstore brow products, aalways seem to be so warm toned, I just don't wanna struggle with drugstore stuff, when I found my holy grails and where I just know, that thry will perform the way I want to, in my drugstore years I ran every week into the stores to rebuy etc; with my high end products they last sooo much longer, at the end of the day I don't spend more on my high end products, as I did with drugstore, and with the price point drugstores are coming up now, nooo way I ever would switch.....

I feel the Milani foundation looks better, but then who am I to judge because I do not need to wear foundation at age 75 . I did wear it for my two daughters’ weddings and for a couple of photography sessions.
I am blessed with my mother’s Black Irish complexion and have very few wrinkles, as well as zero texture and discoloration.
I put the elf halo glow on my body to even out my skin and make me look more healthy

I think putting the eye primer over concealer was the issue rather than the product itself. I think it's one or the other- concealer can be the primer or the primer can be the primer.

100% agree on the NYX Control Freak eyebrow gel. Terrible. I felt like nothing was getting deposited at all.
Essence - Barely Nude Highlighter is very similar to the
Hourglass Highlighters that are light toned at least.

Hi Nikki the primers are not made to be used over concealer, they fight with each other!
The Milani ES Primer is known to not perform if a certain amount it applied. A sliver would do. Great video all around though.
Elf halo glow is now available in shade medium neutral olive 3.5 and it is a great tone I think you would enjoy! ❤

Both sides looked exactly the same EXCEPT the mascara. That really did translate, although I'll probably stick with the $4 version because I'm not a MA and I don't generally splurge on myself.
You’re stunning as always Nikki. tbh…I don’t see a difference, and actually liked the drugstore look better overall. Where I do see the difference immediately: your brows and lashes. I struggle so much with my naturally light, thin brows…I’ll be giving Benefit a try for sure. Your lashes being the other, just confirms I’m sticking with my Mac. Thank you so much for comparing them individually from application to overall feeling.

I think what’s happening with the eye primers u are not suppose to use both a concealer n a primer one or the other n if u do make sure u give it plenty time to dry down n it shouldn’t break it up like it’s doing love watching u keep up the great videos

I actually think the Milani eye liner looks a little better. It's hard to tell a difference from either side. Only noticeable difference to me is highlighters.🤷♀️ ❤❤

I almost hate to suggest this because it’s a different influencer. I can’t sit on a great secret either. Nikia Joy her face powders are like nothing . very finally milled. They are not cheap, but they really are beautiful. Let me add Nikki that I love your channel and you have helped me so much. I have the GVY powder and it is stunning.

Have a mascara question. I haven't tried too many higher end mascaras lately, but a favorite of mine was the Chanel le volume. I've just recently decided I wanted to pu a brown mascara. I was hearing raves about the Tower 28 one, but then heard cons as well. I've not tried the YSL lash clash and just saw they have a brown. Curious of your thoughts?
😢 dude, I use elf, pink setting powder every day and I love it, ❤️ u just didn't know what the right brush is for it. I always use it with a big fluffy powder brush which is the best way to use it and I will always use this setting powder. I am sorry u are not using the right brush for it to actually give it a fair chance 😅
I need to know how they behave after 4 hours, 8 hours... Is there any difference? My experience is that cheaper makeup kind of falls off after a couple of hours. Doesn't help they look alike when you apply them if they do not stay in place.

The Valentino looks so much better. The Benefit brows look so much better. The YSL looks so much better. The Chanel bronzer looks less patchy than the Elf. The Colorpop products look the same but everything else? I really do see a difference with the luxury side🏆This was so fun.

I watched a video where you said the name of the foundation blending blush. I'm not a beginner buuuuut I haven't been able to find a brush that didn't leave streaks on my face. I want to use a brush because I also want to do a full-coverage look. where can I purchase it?
Maybe this is all in my head, but I usually worry that drug store will contain corner-cutting ingredients. I imagine that my expensive products have cleaner ingredients. That said I don’t necessarily read all the ingredient lists so I’m sure I put a lot of expensive crap on my face 😬
EWG Skin Deep rates a lot of drugstore products like Honest and Neutrogena better than "clean" brands like Merit and Ilia.
And how it stayed after all day wear? That is the difference, not the initial look….
Fyi hourglass highlighters are comparable to essence pure highlighter

Hey Nikki!!!🤍 I found that the Colourpop 11:11 palette to be a closer dupe to the ND INAN palette!! Almost SPOT ON minus 4 shades...
So surprised that the shade mn3 works for you in the valentino foundation. I am much darker than you and just Purchased the sam shade and it is too dark for me and too much beige in it. Great video idea as usual though. I so much admire your work ethic.
That essence mascara is a big No for me I’d rather use Maybelline Sky High Cosmic Black as my Drugstore and of course YSL or Hourglass as my Luxury

I personaly have very (very very) dry eyelids, to the points where the sensation is extremly unpleasant if feels dry and thirsty and matifying primers make it worse for me (both in terms of sensation and makeup longevity) and for me the only things that work are « greesy » primers. Just an FYI in case people out there don’t know, most ColourPop palettes can be depotted because the pans are held in the cardboard magnetically.
That way, you can put them in a custom palette of your own making, mix-and-match shades, or “dupe” high end palettes if that’s your thing 😊

I would LOVE to see someone do a foundation test by having another person put the various foundations in generic jars that are all the same. Use high end, low end..all of it. Number the jars so it’s truly a blind test and then try them and tell us the top five or so. And since they’re numbered it would be a surprise to us (and to you too0 when the big reveal happened.

99% luxury fondation have a sent to it, and not just vanilla or something generic it smells like a perfume. I think you can guess which is which before applying it. But there are some videos comparing different products with blind test, by scientist, where they guess the price tag on RUclips (spoiler alert : they guess right which is more expensive 95% of the time )

I’m a working MUA based in NYC. I gatta tell ya Nikki, this was a really cool comparison. Super subtle differences. That stated, my clients want to see LUXURY coming out of my kit. One session to hear feedback of, “Your using drugstore?” was enough for me. Happy New Year full of happiness and wonderful little surprises 🎉

I have to admit that if I'm going to spend the $$$$ to get my makeup professionally applied ( which I would totally be willing to do) I would want high end products to be used. I love drugstore and luxury makeup but if I'm paying for the service I would want more luxurious products to enhance the experience.
I would agree…paying to have my makeup done by a professional makeup artist I would expect luxury 💄!
Although, it must be said, everyone likes a bargain. Introducing a drugstore super performer and maybe gifting a few can go a long way towards enhancing your customers’ experience. Dropping tips or tricks is something that anyone would like.
So interesting to hear different takes on this, esp since high end doesn’t necessarily mean better performing. I totally get your sentiment though!
