@@user-be9gr3wv3rThe Palace does not belong to His Majesty. It is the Official Residence of the Monarch, but is the property of the Government. It is quite normal for the Head Of State to have Official Residences supplied for the duration of their time in Service. Nobody claims The White House belongs to the President of the USA, nor does anyone claim the same for Camp David. Same idea.
So many of the fact are not correct. Also, the Palace belongs to the Country and not the Monarch.

The Crown Estates are now owned by King Charles III (in the right of the Crown which means that the current Monarch owns the estate during their reign, it is not their private property and they do not manage or make decisions about its assets). Profits are paid to the Treasury to be used by the government to set the funding for the The Sovereign Grant. The Royal family privately own the Balmoral and Sandringham Estates. King Charles III inherited Castle of Mey in Scotland the private property of his Grandmother, the Queen Mother. The Princess Royal privately owns Gatcombe Park.

Who would you suggest live there. The maintenance fees would be out of the reach of most people and there would not be a museum to save the national treasures.

It's unbelievable how many people don't understand how the British Royal Family is financed. The palaces are funded by what is known as the Sovereign Grant an annual payment which is mostly made up from around 20% of the Crown Estate revenues. The rest of the Crown Estate's money goes straight to the government. Relatively very little of the monarchy's imcome comes directly from taxation. The king receives money from the Duchy of Lancaster estates whivh he is taxed on and from which he pays the official expenses of some of the other "working" members of the family. He also privately owns the Balmoral and Sandringham Estates. The Prince and Princess of Wales receive their income from the property portfolio known as the Duchy of Cornwall and they also pay tax on this.
In all likely hood. If the monarchy were abolished, it would cost the tax payers even more to operate it as a museum or house for a president.
