Explore the Enchanting Highgrove House: A Glimpse into King Charles III's Idyllic Country Retreat
Welcome to an exclusive tour of King Charles III and Queen Camilla's private family residence in the picturesque countryside of Gloucestershire, England. Nestled in southwest Tetbury, Highgrove House is a testament to the King's passion for nature, history, and exquisite design. Join us as we delve into the captivating history, unique design, and remarkable details of Their Majesties' beloved home, including its stunning gardens and fascinating features.
Highgrove House, King Charles III's primary residence, holds a special place in his heart. Acquired in 1980 before his marriage to Princess Diana, the estate has undergone extensive renovations and now boasts an organic farm and some of the most inspiring gardens in the UK. The house became the perfect playground for the young princes, William and Harry, and continues to be a cherished family retreat.
Built between 1796 and 1798 for the Crawley-Boevey family, Highgrove House is a magnificent three-story building designed by Anthony Keck in the austere Neoclassical style. The estate's exterior retains many neoclassical decorative details, while the interior has been beautifully restored to reflect the tastes and preferences of its royal inhabitants.
One of the estate's highlights is the Sundial Garden, adorned with busts of famous individuals admired by the King. The garden's layout has been preserved since its creation and features a central stone sundial, a wedding gift to the Prince and Princess of Wales. The King's passion for delphiniums is evident, with many beautiful flowers gracing the gardens.
Highgrove House is also home to the charming treehouse originally built for Prince William's seventh birthday. Recently refurbished for Prince George, the treehouse is a testament to the King's dedication to creating magical spaces for his family. Additionally, the estate includes a nature-based playground at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, inspired by the original treehouse.
The estate's history is not without its challenges. A severe fire in 1982 caused significant damage, but the house was meticulously restored, preserving its neoclassical charm. The interiors were redecorated by Robert Kime, reflecting the tastes of Queen Camilla.
Visitors to Highgrove can explore the gardens through guided tours available between April and October. The Highgrove Shop offers a range of products, including food, alcohol, homeware, and exclusive items inspired by the estate. All profits from the shop support The King's Charitable Foundation, providing grants to small and medium-sized charities.
Highgrove House also holds a special place in popular culture, featuring in season 4 of the historical drama series "The Crown." The series showcases the King's passion for sustainable gardening, reflecting his dedication to creating a harmonious relationship with nature.
As King Charles III fulfills his formal royal duties at Buckingham Palace, his heart remains at Highgrove House. This idyllic retreat stands as a testament to his love for the countryside, sustainable practices, and the preservation of natural beauty.

There was another one right at the start. He said that Highgrove is in south west Tetbury. Tetbury is a small market town and Highgrove is in Doughton which is a couple of miles away. That, and the glaring mistake about Harry was enough for me to stop watching I’m afraid.

As a person who probably will never see England, let alone the UK. I feel privileged to see what King Charles III has been doing with his free time. The gardens are beautiful,. A complete tour on screen from my livingroom. I hope the doors are as open if the prodigal son decides to come home. Love and prayer to His Majesty and his Queen. I am not versed in these ways. I to believe in eating real food. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place, and it's history.

His Majesty King Charles III was way ahead of his time when it came to horticulture and agriculture.
Many British people have no idea of how much he invested in their health and well-being.
And many people in other countries have also benefitted by his support of natural ways to fertilize their farmlands.

    • @jenniferlynn3537
      @jenniferlynn3537 9 часов назад +1

Yes - And I’d add that even the interpretive stuff is convoluted.
For example, King Charles supposedly “hates an overly manicured garden” 22:36 - yet has installed exotic statuary amongst other garden ornamentation, created geometric designed hedgerows, nurtured espaliered fruit trees and trimmed ornate topiaries?!?! That is nothing if not thoroughly contradictory.
It would have been more apt to say that the king is enamored of many forms of garden design - from informal meadows and cottage gardens, to traditionally planned gardens, to classically designed outdoor spaces.

I have just turned on this video , and only on the first few minutes of it. Already I feel like I must be seeing something different to other people. I went on the garden tour of Charles’s high grove . And tbh I was very disappointed. It was in September , I was with my bro and sister in law. I Did not think it was anything special AT ALL . In Fact they bought me the ticket as a birthday present ,as it’s somewhere I had always wanted to go . Firstly outside one of their rooms is a huge terracotta pot , lol it’s broken and stuck with glue .. in another part was a Moroccan type of garden , and that too was awful tacky and just laughable in my opinion. In other parts of the garden were statues of lost pets . Amongst crazy paving paths …. The one thing I liked was the giant dome shaped bushes that had been cut like topiary . . I saw nothing at all that I thought was amazing. And the tea room was very pricey for what you got . 3 of us was £30 . For one scone jam and cream ,and a pot of tea each. I thought you would at least get 2 scones each…. I would not go again , and could not possibly recommend it to anybody. Very expensive for what it is ….

Amazing what you can do WHEN YOU HAVE UNLIMITED AMOUNTS OF MONEY!!! That house only makes me think of Charles Creating House on Princess Diana!!!! Must be nice to have all the time and money in the world to do whatever you like.

She is NOT the current queen. She is queen consort.

A King's wife (aka consort) IS indeed titled HM The Queen. Very few Queens are Monarchs. So yes, she is the Queen but she is not the Monarch.

Don't be such a sour puss. All English kings' commoner wives are "consort" but called queen. Even the Queen Mother was a queen consort. Catherine will be a consort. Camilla is no different. If you feel obliged to be nasty, at least get it right. You are obviously under the impression that "consort" is derogatory. Sorry to burst your nasty bubble, but it is not.

Yes, a beautiful garden and home. I can see the beautiful Diana with her boys out on the lawn. The problem we have today, there is a mole living inside.

No, Charles' current wife doesn't entertain lovers in the homes as his first wife did around the children.

In the name of all that is worthy and holy, LEAVE THE DEAD FIRST WIFE OUT OF THIS. She left ther THIRTY TWO years ago. Let it f*cking go already and move into the 21st century. Can't you just enjoy domething lovely without tarnishing it with your moldy old yearning for a ghost?

It’s so sad that the Royal family especially Charles treated Diana as such as she didn’t feel loved just to produce an heir He told her when she asked him if he ever loved her and he said no she wanted another baby until he told her that After all he was disappointed that she had another son the second time and he didn’t like that Harry had red hair She thought if she could have another child maybe it would be the daughter he wanted I believe that she thought if they had another child it might fix their relationship but sadly when she asked him if he ever loved her and he said no what a disappointment for her after spending so many years trying to get his love However he really didn’t know what love meant because his mother was Queen Elizabeth and he didn’t get the same love from his mother and father that he needed Nanny’s and private boarding school you don’t have the same love you need from those you look to for that kind of love I understand how difficult that can be as I’ve been through similar things not exactly because I wasn’t born into a Royal family My parents threw me out at 16 years old so I understand how it can affect a person 😢

I’m a American, so this king and queen stuff doesn’t make any sense to me. But I’ve always enjoyed seeing what was happening with all of them. Princess Diana changed everything. She just brought. HAPPINESS, and JOY into the family. Then the boys was fun to watch her LOVE HER BOYS. But the thing I just can’t accept is Camilla being called a queen.

"Harry, Duke of Essex"? What? Sussex. Prince Edward is Duke of Essex: shouldn't the narrator with a British accent know the difference?
