Explore the Enchanting Highgrove House: A Glimpse into King Charles III's Idyllic Country Retreat
Welcome to an exclusive tour of King Charles III and Queen Camilla's private family residence in the picturesque countryside of Gloucestershire, England. Nestled in southwest Tetbury, Highgrove House is a testament to the King's passion for nature, history, and exquisite design. Join us as we delve into the captivating history, unique design, and remarkable details of Their Majesties' beloved home, including its stunning gardens and fascinating features.
Highgrove House, King Charles III's primary residence, holds a special place in his heart. Acquired in 1980 before his marriage to Princess Diana, the estate has undergone extensive renovations and now boasts an organic farm and some of the most inspiring gardens in the UK. The house became the perfect playground for the young princes, William and Harry, and continues to be a cherished family retreat.
Built between 1796 and 1798 for the Crawley-Boevey family, Highgrove House is a magnificent three-story building designed by Anthony Keck in the austere Neoclassical style. The estate's exterior retains many neoclassical decorative details, while the interior has been beautifully restored to reflect the tastes and preferences of its royal inhabitants.
One of the estate's highlights is the Sundial Garden, adorned with busts of famous individuals admired by the King. The garden's layout has been preserved since its creation and features a central stone sundial, a wedding gift to the Prince and Princess of Wales. The King's passion for delphiniums is evident, with many beautiful flowers gracing the gardens.
Highgrove House is also home to the charming treehouse originally built for Prince William's seventh birthday. Recently refurbished for Prince George, the treehouse is a testament to the King's dedication to creating magical spaces for his family. Additionally, the estate includes a nature-based playground at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, inspired by the original treehouse.
The estate's history is not without its challenges. A severe fire in 1982 caused significant damage, but the house was meticulously restored, preserving its neoclassical charm. The interiors were redecorated by Robert Kime, reflecting the tastes of Queen Camilla.
Visitors to Highgrove can explore the gardens through guided tours available between April and October. The Highgrove Shop offers a range of products, including food, alcohol, homeware, and exclusive items inspired by the estate. All profits from the shop support The King's Charitable Foundation, providing grants to small and medium-sized charities.
Highgrove House also holds a special place in popular culture, featuring in season 4 of the historical drama series "The Crown." The series showcases the King's passion for sustainable gardening, reflecting his dedication to creating a harmonious relationship with nature.
As King Charles III fulfills his formal royal duties at Buckingham Palace, his heart remains at Highgrove House. This idyllic retreat stands as a testament to his love for the countryside, sustainable practices, and the preservation of natural beauty.

I’d love to live there amidst those beautiful gardens!!! Pure paradise!!
I have recently done a garden tour at Highgrove. Absolutely gorgeous.
Lovely lady.👒Me too.☀
I expect nothing else
Than the lovingly cared for gardens.
Kings Charles comes thru greatly!❤
Absolutely gorgeous gardens. I admire the the king's perseverance in developing it.
Many thanks!
When you get something wrong as simple as Harry, Duke of Sussex - not Essex, it makes me wonder what other bits you get wrong.
Plenty careless mistakes in this one. What a damn shame.
There was another one right at the start. He said that Highgrove is in south west Tetbury. Tetbury is a small market town and Highgrove is in Doughton which is a couple of miles away. That, and the glaring mistake about Harry was enough for me to stop watching I’m afraid.
Really you don’t listen before you post for mistakes
Harry is NOT Duke of Edinburgh he is the Duke of Sussex. Get it right. .
The usual click bait. “Inside Charles lll’s home”? I must have missed something? Add to that the Harry mistake and you can discount this rubbish. 😂
As a person who probably will never see England, let alone the UK. I feel privileged to see what King Charles III has been doing with his free time. The gardens are beautiful,. A complete tour on screen from my livingroom. I hope the doors are as open if the prodigal son decides to come home. Love and prayer to His Majesty and his Queen. I am not versed in these ways. I to believe in eating real food. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place, and it's history.

Spending time in a garden is one of the best activities for the soul. It was wonderful to know that King Charles has a deep connection with Sophia, Gaian tantra.
Absolutely gorgeous gardens. Beautiful participation of his family at the project having great taste and love for nature. Thank you for sharing the lovely video👀
So nice
Such a beautiful photo of the boys laughing together
So serene. One can imagine what the garden of eden was like looking at highgrove gardens. What a naturalist kc3 has turned out to be. Well done green finger king.
Nature is important and beautiful...Charles is a great gardener with good taste and deserves our respect! 🌳🌱🌷🌹
lovely garden, the king has a lot of talent and loves nature as i do
The King made this tired house and garden very beautiful again.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to go there and, having owned the book on the garden it was so very lovely to walk around and see how much more he had developed since the book was published. It's a true work of love and beauty
WOW...incredible you've captured the years in 20 minutes of patients and perseverance... Absolutely incredible...🕊🌱🕯🌿
patience
Fab tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it
So glad!
Thank you King Charles for sharing with public one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen.
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful Gardens, home & countryside! I would love it there, it's so beautiful as Heaven on earth!
This is a terrific tour of the Highgrove gardens. Wonderful. But the title is inaccurate -- it is not a tour of the inside of Highgrove. And one small detail: the record height of a delphinium cannot be 18 inches. Migjt it be 18 feet?
Indeed, I apologize for my error. Naturally, it is Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex
His Majesty King Charles III was way ahead of his time when it came to horticulture and agriculture.
Many British people have no idea of how much he invested in their health and well-being.
And many people in other countries have also benefitted by his support of natural ways to fertilize their farmlands.
Its not a 5 hour tour....its a one and a half hour garden tour. Absolutely we'll worth a visit though £69 per couple need to book well in advance
A Man so far ahead of his time, He shows us the way to the future.
What a great video. I loved all the historical information about the gardens. Thanks for sharing.🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it!
The King and Queen don't live at Buckingham Palace, it is under renovation that will take years to complete! They live at Claence House.
How beautiful ❤
I found this a most interesting video on Highgrove and find the gardens so beautiful!
How lovely- I feel like I had a mini excursion!! Thank you so very much-
Wonderful !
Lovely garden.
Yes, thank you
So beautiful garden
Thanks for visiting )
Przepiękny ogród. 😊
What a beautiful home and gardens!
Just wonderful to see such beauty - thank you so much. from Canada
That was a really interesting tour INSIDE Charles 111 home. I really enjoyed seeing the interior. of his idyllic retreat.
You said inside highgrove house but you lied, that's not good.
Fabulous gardens ❤
Beautiful gardens🌸🦋🌸
Yes, thank you
Magical place from the video.😊😊
Thanks a lot 😊
It just shows what you can do with money. I dot grudge it to him, he is a wonderful man.
It’s soooo beautiful! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🇺🇸
The king and Queen DO NOT live in Buckingham Palace. Where do you get your information??
Yes - And I’d add that even the interpretive stuff is convoluted.
For example, King Charles supposedly “hates an overly manicured garden” 22:36 - yet has installed exotic statuary amongst other garden ornamentation, created geometric designed hedgerows, nurtured espaliered fruit trees and trimmed ornate topiaries?!?! That is nothing if not thoroughly contradictory.
It would have been more apt to say that the king is enamored of many forms of garden design - from informal meadows and cottage gardens, to traditionally planned gardens, to classically designed outdoor spaces.
Absolutely stunning 🥰🥰
Omg ...love English love for gardens
Love the picture tour of the gardens. But, quite a few bit of misinformed statements were made about the gardens and the property.
Contains no current views inside the home
Thank you so wonderful
Beautiful! How could Harry leave all this behind?
Good question!
Harry, Duke of Sussex!
He's nothing to sussex
Yes, that's on me. Of course, it's Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.
@@user-gx3mw7rx4n less than nothing!
After saying the inside was going to be on views - it wasn't. Very disappointing!
This is a tour of the house, I do not think so......
''...widely widespread....'' oh dear!
Your majesty, wow to the Islamic garden(What colours❤😊)Do you have peacocks and pea hen's?I know it get's a tad damp and cold. Those birds like warm weather❤but I think an Indian peacock garden.Would encourage a few more visitor's?Maybe you could design a winter structure to warm them.As they coyld walk freely in warm months. With some indian statues etc?Maybe a contest? For a piece of art to be created to enhance such a garden space? They could win 1st 2nd or 3rd prize to be placed there.
Diana did not like living at Highgrove. Unlike Charles she liked city life and the glamour. But William and Harry must of loved it as children, a childs wonderland. Wonderfull work the now King Charles.
What "house" tour? Not one image from the inside was shown.. The video lost complete credibility when they called Harry, The Duke of Sussex, the Duke of Essex..Was just a collection of old photos found every where else on the internet. Don't waste your time.
Oops, my blunder! Obviously, I was talking about Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex!
Leave out the word “the”.@@fashionmomentswithellen.
Wonderfull collage of the garden. .
Some mistakes 😢.DUKE OF WHAT????ESSEX ?😮SUSSEX 😅.But nobody's perfect ...😊
Duke of essex?
Oh, my bad! I meant Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.

Good job on the gardens chuckie i hope his rhr dosent mind my informality of my writings i to am a serious gardener this year i spent three months working on my gardens this year i didnt make a.formal.garden plan it more like putting a puzzle together ii wont do that in the future i been inspired by your gardens I'm just not sure how to implement my ideas thomas Jefferson wrote tough an old man i am but a young man i wish you good health and hpope harry returns to the safety of his family 40 years of gardening and having raised three daughters close in age to your children i am an old women yeta young gardener tanx hrh tamara lee
I thought they lived in Clarence House when in London?
They called G3 Farmer George, perhaps C3 is Farmer Charles!
You said we would see inside his home, but you didn’t show inside. Apologies please.
I can not watch this video because you have not allowed the commentary to be clear. Music has an important role in our lives, but not as an itch that cannot be scratched.
You have reduced a fairly pretty film to a supermarket ad.
this is a absolutely gorgeous house, being a interior designer, I believe Princess Diana was also a designer .
Duke of Essex? Who dat?
These robotically narrated videos are more than annoying, not to mention the erroneous content. Two minutes into this video and already he has misidentified the Duke of Sussex as Duke of Essex; and, also omitted that Clarence House is HM's primary residence in London. Photographs are beautiful, even if clipped from other videos.
“Duke of Essex”?? You need better researchers.
Oh, my bad! I meant Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.
Pie-lasters 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, this is when they create garden ornamentation from baked goods, intending to preserve them for the ages….
where is the INSIDE of the house!!!?????
Harry, Duke of ESSEX.....?!? WTH. You royally botched this. Wouldn't take anything said after that.
What a joke, "INSIDE Charles III Home". No pictures of inside...LOL Don't ever think I watched your silly program, just fast forwarded.
I know!!! Makes you want to have thé opportunity to tour the place one day, doesnt it?
3:50: It says, “when Princess Diana and Prince Charles wed”… why does it not instead say, “when Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles wed”. She was Lady Diana Spencer all along, yet they always omitted that all along! Manipulation to someone’s ego I presume!? Most likely!
Actually Harry as incorrect Duke of Essex is more suitable, but he's Duke of Sussex.
The King and the Queen seem to be happiest at Highgrove. Diana did not like the home or the country. She was a city girl and made that clear after she married Charles. Read Lady Colin Campbell's The Real Diana.
They love Scotland too.
@@honestea1828Highland clearances.
Lady Colin Campbell? She's an awful piece of work!!!!!!
Harry is Duke of Sussex Not Duke of Essex!!!
I'm a republican, but I do enjoy a good garden :o)
Perhaps you could have checked the pronunciation of Beaufort and Holyrood. English is full of pitfalls!
It now belongs to Prince William he pays rent to the Duchy of Cornwall.
Hahaha wrong title for Harry. He walked away from the family so it's only fitting! So funny
Indeed, I apologize for my error. Naturally, it is Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex
@@fashionmomentswithellen I enjoyed it. He IS just Harry now.
He's KING HARRY NOW.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
YOU LIED ABOUT YOUR HEADLINE FOR CLOCKBAIT😂
Harry, Duke of Essex??? Try to get your facts right.
Yes, my mistake - of course Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex !
Henry, Duke of delusion!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You had to flight Chuck's house after Harry's home?😂😂😂😂
Harry is Duke of Sussex... not Essex!
Harry is the Duke of Sussex not Essex !!
1.20 seconds in, and I'm out, what ells is wrong with this "tour" that is apparently NOT a tour of the house. Can't even get their titles right!
A man whose ideas are ahead of his time.
Love His Majesty and Queen Camilla ❤️💙
Kamilu.?Zašto voleti zlo!
I have just turned on this video , and only on the first few minutes of it. Already I feel like I must be seeing something different to other people. I went on the garden tour of Charles’s high grove . And tbh I was very disappointed. It was in September , I was with my bro and sister in law. I Did not think it was anything special AT ALL . In Fact they bought me the ticket as a birthday present ,as it’s somewhere I had always wanted to go . Firstly outside one of their rooms is a huge terracotta pot , lol it’s broken and stuck with glue .. in another part was a Moroccan type of garden , and that too was awful tacky and just laughable in my opinion. In other parts of the garden were statues of lost pets . Amongst crazy paving paths …. The one thing I liked was the giant dome shaped bushes that had been cut like topiary . . I saw nothing at all that I thought was amazing. And the tea room was very pricey for what you got . 3 of us was £30 . For one scone jam and cream ,and a pot of tea each. I thought you would at least get 2 scones each…. I would not go again , and could not possibly recommend it to anybody. Very expensive for what it is ….
And who pays for this??? The people and it's bullcrap!!!
Hilarious
Duke of Essex 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not a subscriber anymore.....clickbait.
U keep saying queen..she is queen concert!!
Consort.
Queen IS the title of a King's wife/*Consort. Very few Queens are Monarchs.
You don’t keep calling her consort though. She is crowned Queen to King Charles.
The wife of a King is Queen. Very simple to grasp.
Well, either way, the continual reference to what the king did and what Queen Camilla did was extremely odd, as neither held those titles at the time they performed said work to Highgrove.
I’d have rather heard, “the then-Prince of Wales” or “as the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla undertook renovations of the interior rooms…” etc.
God Bless King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Kamilu?
He is a good king.
THIS WAS VERY WELL DONE-TOP DRAWER INDEED
Top drawer of what? It must have been a very low piece of furniture indeed…😏
Amazing what you can do WHEN YOU HAVE UNLIMITED AMOUNTS OF MONEY!!! That house only makes me think of Charles Creating House on Princess Diana!!!! Must be nice to have all the time and money in the world to do whatever you like.
She is NOT the current queen. She is queen consort.
A King's wife (aka consort) IS indeed titled HM The Queen. Very few Queens are Monarchs. So yes, she is the Queen but she is not the Monarch.
Don't be such a sour puss. All English kings' commoner wives are "consort" but called queen. Even the Queen Mother was a queen consort. Catherine will be a consort. Camilla is no different. If you feel obliged to be nasty, at least get it right. You are obviously under the impression that "consort" is derogatory. Sorry to burst your nasty bubble, but it is not.

HMM WORRYING ISLAMIC GARDENS I THINK THE ENGLISH HAVE HAD A GUT FULL OF ISLAMIC THINGS HOW ABOUT SOMETHING ENGLISH
Yes, a beautiful garden and home. I can see the beautiful Diana with her boys out on the lawn. The problem we have today, there is a mole living inside.
No, Charles' current wife doesn't entertain lovers in the homes as his first wife did around the children.
I think you are held back in the made up fairy tale, and very onr sided book dictated with specific purposes
In the name of all that is worthy and holy, LEAVE THE DEAD FIRST WIFE OUT OF THIS. She left ther THIRTY TWO years ago. Let it f*cking go already and move into the 21st century. Can't you just enjoy domething lovely without tarnishing it with your moldy old yearning for a ghost?

It’s so sad that the Royal family especially Charles treated Diana as such as she didn’t feel loved just to produce an heir He told her when she asked him if he ever loved her and he said no she wanted another baby until he told her that After all he was disappointed that she had another son the second time and he didn’t like that Harry had red hair She thought if she could have another child maybe it would be the daughter he wanted I believe that she thought if they had another child it might fix their relationship but sadly when she asked him if he ever loved her and he said no what a disappointment for her after spending so many years trying to get his love However he really didn’t know what love meant because his mother was Queen Elizabeth and he didn’t get the same love from his mother and father that he needed Nanny’s and private boarding school you don’t have the same love you need from those you look to for that kind of love I understand how difficult that can be as I’ve been through similar things not exactly because I wasn’t born into a Royal family My parents threw me out at 16 years old so I understand how it can affect a person 😢
Mistakes , errors , will not matter to the homeless , or the ones in one roomed temp accommodation , as they look on
I’m a American, so this king and queen stuff doesn’t make any sense to me. But I’ve always enjoyed seeing what was happening with all of them. Princess Diana changed everything. She just brought. HAPPINESS, and JOY into the family. Then the boys was fun to watch her LOVE HER BOYS. But the thing I just can’t accept is Camilla being called a queen.
ugh these series all the script does is repeat the same info 5 different ways boring nothing new to learn
It's a shame, he doesn't apply this love to his children with Princess Diana!!!
He did love Diana but after a while discovered they had nothing in common & both were very unhappy.

"Harry, Duke of Essex"? What? Sussex. Prince Edward is Duke of Essex: shouldn't the narrator with a British accent know the difference?
