  • Whether he likes it or not (and, frankly, I got the feeling that sometimes he doesn't), Patrick Warburton has to deal with the fact that he is an iconic presence in an iconic show - Jerry's mechanic friend David Puddy, who dated Elaine and painted his face in a mere 11 episodes of Seinfeld.
Warburton has a multi-generational fanbase - The Gen Xers love him because of Seinfeld; the millennials love him through Family Guy; the kids that loved him from The Emperor’s New Groove have grown up to keep loving him in The Venture Bros. Even the toddlers love him, as Grandpa Shark!
And he adores Aussies, having filmed Working Dog's The Dish in rural New South Wales 30-odd years ago!
In Melbourne for the Metro Comic Con fan event, Patrick Warburton spoke with Screen Watching's Simon Foster (and, occasionally, with a dog called Rex) about the comic genius that inspired him, the early indie film work that he still holds dear and how forging relationships with the likes of Barry Sonnenfeld helped his character-actor career.
