Bulgarian here, this is by far the best Buzludzha video I have seen!! It's an outright documentary! Most videos I've seen of the site, the visitors just used to turn up and find that the building is closed and maybe some security guard was walking around. Amazing to watch! I shed a tear actually. And I was thinking that whether some people liked the communist system and others didn't, this is still a piece of history that must be preserved! Fantastic video, and I hope they achieve their goal of the full restoration of the building, even though in Bulgaria things generally happen a lot slower.
Very interesting video! Thank you for taking the tour and showing us this place! Dora is just an incredibly strong person who really needs to be admired! ❤️
This is such a fascinating, informative, educational and inspiring video. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You have done an outstanding job highlighting the restorative efforts taking place here. I like Dora's ideas about making the structure useful for artists and musicians to exhibit their creations and their talents. A "gathering place for positivity". I am glad that she wants to present the past history objectively and not gloss over the negatives of the Communist era in Bulgaria. Take care, Matt and Julia and enjoy your onward journey this week. 🤗❤️🙏🌎
Thank you so much John! Really appreciate it 🥰 Totally agree, it is an incredibly idea and we hope it will be such a positive thing for the entire country ❤️
I went there about 5 years ago when it was just an abandoned building to take photos. The architecture and location are amazing. When I walked around inside I constantly thought to myself why aren't they maintaining this place? It's so cool to see them restoring it. I learned a lot about the history of the building from your video. Great video all around!
Bulgaria has a special place in my heart, this video, and this specific topic, makes it even more special, my dad initially told me about this place, and it's still on my bucket list, awesome to see being restored, a gem...
What a great look back in history at a what was beautiful and iconic building. With Dora's energy and commitment I'm sure it will be again. Thanks Matt and Julia for a very interesting and educational vlog, I will keep watching for more inspiation videos.
Wow! What an absolutely beautiful video! Kudos to Dora for your amazing inspiration! I am in awe of the beautiful mosaics, and how they are restoring it. I also so enjoyed the history of the building. Lastly the video of the scenery was breathtaking! Fabulous video! Thank you for sharing
I have missed these types of videos showing the history of the areas you visit. It also goes to show you what one persistent person can accomplish. Look what she has accomplished by keeping at it. Awesome video. Thanks so much for sharing. It’s beautiful and amazing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So glad you enjoyed it Cheryl! This is the general direction we want to go long term with the channel, we making love these types of videos and sharing incredible people and projects 🥰❤️❤️❤️
Julia & Matt, you have presented a beautiful and educational video about a piece of history I knew nothing about. Thank you for educating me on the painstaking restoration that is going on here. It is truly remarkable, and I appreciate what you have shared. Keep creating this great content! ❤️
What a lovely video. The architecture located in that spectacular location is truly amazing. This would be a fabulous place to visit and learn the history of Bulgaria.
Thank you for such a great video! Too bad someone in Bulgaria doesn’t help that group. The place is amazing. I have never seen anything like it. Thanks again for showing it.
This is so nice to watch! I admire Dora and her team for their efforts and dedication. When things go south it's always easy to look the other way and pretend it never happened - it takes courage to accept, remember, criticize, compare, embrace and then take it into a hopefully better future. I hope they are successful and if I'd get the chance I would absolutely visit Buzludzha, after it has reopened to the public.
Wow! This was fantastic. I love learning history and geography facts. What an amazing project and woman. Her comment near the end about history is so true. Safe travels. Hope Julia is feeling better.
Such a strong and inspiring video! You guys done an incredible job I really caught myself thinking that I was watching a real documentary about this place 👏🏼 hopefully it will help Dora to attract more tourists
Fascinating! Thanks so much for sharing this video about Buzludzha and its history and the restoration effort. What an amazing lady, so committed to preserve the monument for the future. It is situated in such an remarkable position with absolutely stunning views. So sad that the place has been neglected and vandalized, but it happened in a turbulent period in the country's history, one cannot judge the actions of people trying to survive and coping with such life altering changes. I will surely follow the progress of this remarkable project! ❤❤
Thank you so much Johan! 🥰 Yeah absolutely, such earth shattering changing changes during that period of time, hard to imagine many of us wouldn’t do the same ❤️ So glad you enjoyed it ❤️❤️❤️
Fascinating! It's a beautiful building. Kudos to the restoration efforts and to you, Matt, and Julia for this thoroughly enjoyable and educational video. Would love to get periodic updates on the progress being made by Dora. She is a national treasure.
Really interesting, thank you. Going to share with some conservators I know. I House sat in a Bulgarian village over a decade ago. Such an interesting country. Hope you are feeling better and enjoying your adventures.
@@MattandJulia loved it, my bother in law retired there. We looked after their house in a village near Veliko Tarnovo. Saw eagles flying near bye, and after we left, there were wolves spotted near by too. Lots of Brutalist communist architecture still standing, and beautiful old Turkish houses, which were being left to rot.
The irony will be that it will take just as long or longer to restore Buzludzha than it was actually officially in service. We were there in 2018 on a poor visibility day, but seeing the UFO like saucer emerge from the fog was awe inspiring. So glad to hear it is being restored. Thanks for the video Matt & Julia, and Dora for her determination. We'll be definately returning there one day.
Bulgaria has still not denounced communism. In that respect there is no healing process under way and as much as Dora is an admirable person - this place will keep on reminding to a large part of Bulgarians what a monstrous regime soviet communism was.
Nice work Dora! I can't afford much (I'm not working right now), but I did make a small donation to the project. I'd love to go there once it gets restored. It's a long way from here in Minnesota, though. Thanks for the video, as always, Matt & Julia!!
Love Bulgaria such a beautiful place, but a shame to see buildings like this going to ruin. Dora is an inspiration to us all and I know she will get there in the end. A great informative video , thank you.
Wow, it takes an inspiring amount of vision and persistence to embark on a project like that. I hope you get to go back and see the progress in future years!
I live in Bulgaria and have visited Buzludza twice but was never able to enter. My very first thought was, why is no one trying to save this? That was back in 2009 when much of the roof was still intact. So happy to learn that there is now an effort to save, renovate and re-use this amazing monument.
There are ongoing partial conservation works but it is said that it might be open to visitors. Many local media have confirmed that it will be open for visitors after the winter season i.e. spring 2023.
What an unusual structure. So glad you captured it! This woman is so gifted to envision and execute this mission. You guys did a great job of covering this. Thank you so much!
I found your channel and absolutely love it. I lost my best friend, soul mate my husband. We did everything together for almost 30 years. Your a couple that reminds me of my husband and I . Soviet era Futurist / Brutalist Architecture at its finest! I remember learning about this building while in design school. Love the grass roots effort being undertaken to preserve the complex. Great job capturing such a unique place.

Влизала съм в Чинията наскоро след откриването и помня всичко: сграда, мозайки, интериор - в блестящ вид.
Well, that's sad. As a Romanian I think that's sad.

That’s exactly what she wants, for it to be progressive and objective, for the future of Bulgaria 😊
This was an interesting video.

For sure haha

Это не забытое прошлое это украденное будущее. В этом храме не вырывали сердца их там зажигали и гореть они будут вечно.
we all should help them fund it
