  • Learn how to make LED Chaser Circuit Using 4017 and 555 IC. The simple Breadboard tutorial and electronics project.
    This chaser circuit is based on two ICs that is 555 timer IC and CD4017, in the circuit 555 timer IC generate pulses that can be adjust by the variable resistor, the pulses triggers the CD4017 IC so it runs ten LEDs in sequential arrangement. You can arrange the LEDs in different styles and make it on PCB. The breadboard tutorial is just for learning and the step by step process in breadboard tutorials makes learning electronic circuits more easy to understand. There is no need of circuit diagram, just follow the steps and make your own 10 LED chaser circuit. If you have any confusion or question, so you can ask me in comments below or if still you need schematic (circuit diagram) so contact me on IdeasTv's official facebook page. I hope this DIY chaser tutorial will be useful for you!

    i know this is old but what if i wanted to use only 5 leds how do i trigger reset sooner? Thanks for the great video.

    Made it and it works well, altough you can use a 20nf capacitor to alter the rate of flashing and even the type.

    • @IdeasTv
      @IdeasTv  Год назад

      Yes, speed of flashing is dependent upon the capacitance value of the capacitor.

    Tried this several times with several different chips... Any idea on what would cause the LEDs to be normally lit vs normally off? They seem to go off in sequence rather than turn on in sequence. Thanks!

    I am using a potentiometer to control and slow down the speed of the 555 and the LM4017 outputs. I'm wanting the LED's to fade when they come on and off and I am experienced with many different circuits that fade LED's. I have tried basic cap and resistor pairings at the LED's and also by using the 4017 outputs to drive bc547's transistors that turn on the LED's, again with different arrangements of caps and resistors on the base and/or emitter sides and I've also tried resistor/cap arrangements that can turn square waves triangle or sine, with and without the transistors. In all cases, I can get a very controllable fade out of the LED's but cannot get them to fade on. Is there something about the output of an LM4017 that will not allow it's waveform to change or for a capacitor to slowly charge? Or something else that I just can't figure out?

    What component is that at 3:25 ? Some kind of bare wire?

      @jean-claudegillet6319 4 года назад

      Oui c'est un fil nu qui sert de pontage car il a utilisé une breadbord qui est séparé en 2 parties donc dans ce cas il faut ponter
