Just wanted to say your builds rock . iam running your fire build with the ice build and its my favorite. I Hated magic through all the testing and now i love it
In Open-Beta Ice Spikes can Triple-Hit frequently when used indoors in close quarters. Walls will force the spiky reach to spawn on top of the pillar leading to absolutely stupid damage. Usually you can only get a reliable double proc, as you need a close wall on both sides to get a triple proc. Low fences are enough to count as a “wall,” so the reliable triple procs I’ve gotten were between a low fence next to a house, in a particular PvE zone. Usually the big ice spike would also be “spawning short” as it would be cast into one of the walls. I’ve gotten a triple proc in an open, but sloped field in a PvE dual once, but didn’t see it happen ever again. If they don’t fix the triple-hit that can be easily done indoors, it could lead to some nasty indoor camping, particularly at the top of stairwells. Two people with ice gauntlets could practically one shot someone with very little time for reactions.
The last perk in the ice spike CAN hit multiple times, but it has to be a large hit box. There is a video on youtube somewhere where a dude is attacking a gator and the model is large enough to hit an enemy ~4 times.
Just echoing the other comments, your weapon guides are fantastic. If your doing the fire staff and have any info on CDR from the passive effecting Runes of Hellios, I'm really keen to know!
You're guides were extremely helpful, only thing I would add is a "final thoughts" on the end. Using all these peoples I'd like to see how you scale them to others.
commenting because you deserve it for such in-depth info. Wish I was the 1000th "like" instead of the 999 but keep it going. Also I'd love to know how all the ice gauntlet perks interact with the abilities. In particular, Deadly frost and pylon burst. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
So I have an issue with your opinion on the 5 mana on spell cast. It counts your basic attack meaning that you are gaining allot from standing by your pylon
@@pritch3328 Intended and does apply. It gives you so much more reason to get the builder alt. You can now dodge other abilities while still getting your free attacks
This was a bug and it would disappear only if you had the last upgrade. Hopefully this doesn't exist by launch b/c I know Amazon is aware of it and attempted to fix it in the open beta... pretty sure they failed though haha
They will probably fix this for Release but IIRC in both beta's switching weapons when you had a specific perk on the ice storm stopped the ice storm from working. so if you cast ice storm and would switch to your rapier the ice storm might still look like its there but stopped doing damage
Another great weapon guide. Keep up the excellent content! I'm intrigued by your pairing the spear and gauntlet. How would you divvy up your attribute points to make this work?
Thanks man! I think I'd dump most points into Intelligence and gem the spear to do 50% off intelligence then put the rest of my points into dex. Maybe get 50 into con then the rest into dex. Basically intelligence first b/c I can gem the spear to get 50% of that value
i gotta re test on release but i could have swore empowered frost worked with basic attacks, felt like i had unlimited mana if i light attacked on my pylon with it
Yeah people started telling me that! Said your basic attacks counted as spells and so you had like unlimited mana and if that's true, then that's SUPER valuable haha!
Fantastic video and it definitely converted me to playing Ice Gauntlet at launch. I'm thinking of running a life staff with it but I'm unsure what I should be putting attribute points into to be most effective at a primary healer and with the gauntlet as backup. Do I just drop points into focus only or do I need to slot some specific gems into my ice gauntlet to make it scale off something else?
I'm a fan of all of these guides. Really great job. Hopefully I can pair ice gauntlet with hammer some how haha. Also, wtb a left glove for another gauntlet . So awkward looking that I mainly used 2h for beta.
This is the one I’ve been waiting on! Thank you very much! I’m new to the game and I’m interested in playing this with the hatchet or great axe but the attributes don’t really work out. Is there a solution for this or am I forced to play a specific secondary weapon to be viable? Thanks in advance! Keep up the great content!
There are gems you can socket in the end game that convert 50% of your damage off your intelligence so you can basically get like 75% total value and if you put all points into intelligence then put the rest into your secondary weapon, you can get that total value even higher. The attributes for sure will have you pairing the same attribute weapons together for min/maxing damage values, but LANDING and COMBOING damage is way more important than potential dps in my opinion. So yes, even if two weapons don't share the same attribute, you can TOTALLY still pair them!
Hey I just want to chime in also that the last talent in ice storm breaks ice storm. Its a bug. It stops ice storm from persisting even when it shouldnt
Great breakdown. Ice Gauntlet/Fire Staff has been my favorite weapon combo in the betas. Do you plan on having the Fire Staff guide out before release?
what are your thoughts on build the last build with hatchet? and what gem should I use on the hatchet and the ice gauntlet also what stats should I run?
What's your opinion on ice gauntlet vs musket to pair with rapier? Mostly focused on small scale pvp. I just can't decided, I really like ice gauntlet skills, but also really want the musket range with 3x zoom.
IF you can land shots (especially headshots) musket can feel pretty solid. If you are going against a ton of greataxe hatchet/heavy armor players. IG will help you zone them much better. Idk what to tell you other than both are equal haha. It just really depends on your individual playstyle lol.
if you don't pvp then probably no points in con. If you DO pvp then maybe just 50. I would play around with light or medium armor and see what feels better for you and your playstyle!
I can totally see that!!!! S&S + IG is like the hardest person to kill and tankiest combo I can think of!!! You should totally try it out! By tankiest combo I just mean it has the highest BLOCK potential
Hi, me again, with the weird tanking-requests, Hello. Since the IG has the second highest block-stability after the shields, how would you build an IG-PvE-tank?
Hahaha not weird AT ALL. Big brain ;). I’d run ice shower and entomb and ice pylon. If you tanking then heavy armor and mostly full con. Idk if I’d put points in strength or intel… basically just yank hits on S&S until around 20-30 stamina the. Swap to gauntlet and block some hits to regenerate it all up!
I believe the last talent for snow globe was bugged so if you switched weapons it would stop doing damage. Can we get a light attack vs heavy attack dps comparison? if they are the same? I believe heavy was 20% more dps if you didn't care about mana from what I tested. (for fire and ice both). Anyone know if the snow blower goes through shields quickly like flame-thrower does?
Correct, this was the bug! Hopefully this gets patched before launch b/c I know they know about it lol. I think in the short game, if you are talking about like 3-5 attacks and whether they are light or heavy, the heavy animation is pretty fast and does 40% more damage so I'd say rock heavies. I really don't think the lights would compete until we are talking about smashing 10 light attacks together vs 10 heavies haha. But you are right, that would be a cool thing to test out and compare dps wise
i dont understand why in kinda all build you don't put passive refreshing frost (20% cd red if u skill in a frosted area, maybe even other ones)i think is so op,i wish to know why pls,or what you think about,if it's smtg like :you don't need to be close to enemy in the frost area wich can have sense ofc but in the end a good melee will always gap the distance and at that point sometime playng melee standing in your own frosted area wuld be great
You get frost zone from three abilities: Ice pylon, ice storm, ice shower. Pylon with ulti can be a big zone where you are hanging out around so there's a solid chance you can take advantage of this but the Pylon doesn't go on CD until it's dead so there's nothing to reduce. That means that at most, you are reducing the CD of one ability by 20% which is meh, not terrible but nothing great. If you don't run pylon (I only had it in the solo open world build) then you only have two abilities that create it and I only recommend the pairing in 1v1, 50v50, and TOBTRTA and you need to cast one, then stand in it, then cast the other. The number of times you would do this is incredibly low to 0 lol. You NEVER want to STAY in melee range of someone that has gap closed to you so when you cast ice shower, you should NOT be running TOWARDS the shower to cast ice storm... you should be running away and kiting haha.
@@pritch3328 is not completly correct,i think mas pvp,50v50 etc have good potential cuz the passive doesnt say the ice zone need to be your,if it actually work even on your friend one it wuld be so powerful and reliable we actually shuld think more on this, unless if you alrdy know if it work or not,thx for the reply
Hi, great video! 2 general questions that have bugged me and maybe someone can help out: Is there an aoe cap in new world? ie does ice storm just hit everyone in it even if there are 50? Is there a cap on the punishing storm mastery ( that adds 10% dmg for every enemy caught in ice storm)?
Great Vid as always !! You are saying one can pair the IG with any weapon, but then I would have to put Attribute points in both INT+STR or DEX. Or what would be the Stat priority here, i.e for Spear+IG?? Maybe investing all points into INT and using an aquamarine gem for 50% Damage conversion to INT for the spear?
Yes exactly! Except it’s not an aquamarine gem that does this. Those convert to frost damage. I forget which one converts to intelligence off the top of my head haha
@@pritch3328 Ahh yes, aquamarin is converting to frost. But stupid question maybe, why not converting to it, i mean IG is doing Frost damage, so I guess it could be used that way and combine with this nice "OP" ICE Perk "ICED Refresh" with 75% CD reduction^^. Anyway Thanks for all the content and when are you dealing with the Firestaff? ^^
already began working on it last night! These take a couple days to make though so it'll be a bit! And yeah I think the aquamarin might be a tad more burst with secondary but probably the sustained damage will be better with the Intelligence scaling gem
I'm thinking of going rapier/ice gauntlet while leveling and then switch to ice gauntlet/healing staff at the end game. Do you believe that the leveling build will be enough to get through it or should I look at other choices?
I didn't have enough points to put this to the test but I think it SHOULD b/c it's applying a debuff to an enemy... That debuff shouldn't be effected by your weapon swapping... in theory lol
@@pritch3328 ah I see, also I find like FS aoe damage honestly kinda a joke compare to IG. With ice storm and the breath thing its like. 340% and 400% damage skills. Where FS had meteor doing like 159% over 5s lol, fire pillar only 135% and 270% if you get the double hit which is hard and not sure if it's glitch. And fire ball isn't that much either compared to IG skills.
@@RexZShadow The fire strike glitch -> triggers its damage twice if the mob moved outside of the circle when it goes off. Like if you cast it, the mob is near the edge -> the pushback from the firestrike pushes the mob outside the ring and they take damage again. Otherwise its a very bad ability. ( I ran it during testing because this bug only). Fire Strike: 1. Does less damage than 1 heavy (which is mana free, gives mana, and reduces CDs if you spec that). (if you include the 40% dmg buff then I argue you could do more dps by pulling the mob from further away with FS heavy attacks before it reaches you.) 2. The second talent for 40% damage if they are full health only procs if they haven't taken damage. If you are in an expedition this 'should' never happen. If you are in PVP same thing, or you should never land it because if you open with it there is no cc on them. 3. Mana refund is good. But the only mana dump (if you don't take the mana talents for heavies) is flamethrower. Incinerate is mandatory if you ever find yourself in a position to use flamethrower. In this case you would want fireball because its better than flamestrike too (no casting/channel animation, more damage, better aiming, reduces other ability CDs). So the skill it synergies with you can't really take together. Plus for the 40% damage talent to benefit it has to be your first spell (when you are full on mana already). ha haa..... meteor shower also has a shorter range than ice globe and has to be channeled for much less dps :) The bright side is that any firestaff works with other people's fire god runes.
@Zehao @nay nay As I'm currently going through the weapon footage and just in utter shock at the crappiness in value I'm seeing from abilities hahahaha. Yikes!
@@Fireguarding Ya FS skills are underwhelming as fuck. Only reason its good is their auto attacks are so story and all you see is people spamming auto and dash. Fire pillar need to constantly hit like 2 times than it be a great skill and change that damage increase to like flat increase and lower it to like 15% since 2 hits. Its also very clunky to use trying to land it is hard enough without trying to land the edge.
I'm pretty sure that any aoe heal on the ground or food will still heal you but I'm unsure if you can be targeted with a heal (like from a single target heal from a lifestaff friend)
please explain to me why in the lore people that use normal weapons arent getting dominated by other people using this the fire staff and eventually tthe void guantlet, also keep up the good work man

2 general questions that have bugged me and maybe someone can help out:
Is there an aoe cap in new world? ie does ice storm just hit everyone in it even if there are 50?
Is there a cap on the punishing storm mastery ( that adds 10% dmg for every enemy caught in ice storm)?
I honestly do not know the answer to either! Those are great questions though!
Thanks man
Im an Ice Gauntlet believer now
Great Vid as always !!
And yeah I think the aquamarin might be a tad more burst with secondary but probably the sustained damage will be better with the Intelligence scaling gem
life staff next?
Is basic attacks & heavy counted as spells? would it effect energized critical (crit dmg 15% ice spells )?
they ARE yes!!!! Which is something I didn't realize while making the video!
@@pritch3328 hell yeah! ty for fast reply
People are sleeping on IG. Ice spam from organized groups will be hard to deal with.
I'm thinking of going rapier/ice gauntlet while leveling and then switch to ice gauntlet/healing staff at the end game. Do you believe that the leveling build will be enough to get through it or should I look at other choices?
Oh yeah rapier/IG can get through any content! Just got to play to the weapons strengths!
@@pritch3328 thank you! It's nice to get a response from you, keep up the great job you're doing man. Hoping only the best for you.
@@stelioskaxiris8982 Yeah np man! Thanks for watching my videos!
i love the gauntlet i rly want to make gauntlet and sword and shield to work
If I use Ice gauntlet will I be able to get damage increase from same faction or party members Ice storms?
It applies a debuff to the ENEMIES which means ANY incoming source can take advantage of the increased damage so YES
Will the fully upgraded pylon with the ultimate be viable in expeditions?
Yeah it will totally be viable. I think it will do more single target dps than wind chill over time.
Most critical tip: Jerry doesn't have any legs.
These are the Pro tips you can expect with my content hahahaha!
Are you doing a Life Staff video?
Yes! After firestaff
Does the elite still apply though if you're not using ice gauntlet?
Fire Strike:
1. Does less damage than 1 heavy (which is mana free, gives mana, and reduces CDs if you spec that). (if you include the 40% dmg buff then I argue you could do more dps by pulling the mob from further away with FS heavy attacks before it reaches you.)
Plus for the 40% damage talent to benefit it has to be your first spell (when you are full on mana already).
ha haa.....
meteor shower also has a shorter range than ice globe and has to be channeled for much less dps :)
The bright side is that any firestaff works with other people's fire god runes.
Insane
Can you be healed while using Entombed?
I'm pretty sure that any aoe heal on the ground or food will still heal you but I'm unsure if you can be targeted with a heal (like from a single target heal from a lifestaff friend)
@@pritch3328 I'll test it out, I think you probably can't but if you can it would be pretty awesome
To confirm, yes you can be healed why entombed.
Good stuff. Every time you say build it does 25% damage to my phone. Lol
my name is cypher and i approve this build
Yeah, data for the win. Lifestaff next?
Firestaff, then life ;)
please explain to me why in the lore people that use normal weapons arent getting dominated by other people using this the fire staff and eventually tthe void guantlet, also keep up the good work man
haha oh man idk much about lore... can I phone a friend and ask BarDownBeef?? He's supposed to know lore stuff haha
Love the video breakdowns! Do you have one planned for Life Staff as well? o.O
Yep! Right after fire staff! Goal is to have one for every weapon by launch!
@@pritch3328 hell yea! I'm torn on a couple options , outside of Orb of Protection, so having that extra opinion is going to help! Right now I'm leaning toward Divine Protection but split on Beacon and Sacred Ground -\(*.*)/-
What is your prefer pve combo?
I've been in love with GA/Hatchet with heavy armor since I first touched the game haha. I was doing it before it was Meta... I MADE IT THE META lol. Naw but it's still my fav for sure!
