Thanks for watching! I'm headed to Spain in about a week to make some plans for house #2. The process really is pretty easy! Let me know if you ever have any questions.
@@traveltomoney Thank you so much for responding! I’m moving to Spain in 2 months for grad school. Depending on how things work out, I might try to become a Spanish resident after graduation and then buy a property there. I’m so glad to hear your home buying experience went well!
Taxes paid to a foreign country can be used to offset US taxes through the foreign tax credit. I am a US citizen and I'm looking into using this foreign tax credit when I file my taxes in the US after buying this house in Spain, did you use the foreign tax credit?
If you are An European citizen , with European Passport, but you live in The UK so you pay taxes in the UK, can you deduct expenses when renting in tenerife ? 🤔 this is not clear to me!
Hi Janne, Not that I'm aware of. I do believe you have to get the house registered as a vacation rental, but I was never required to setup a business. Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂
Hello, I’m thinking to buy a vacation home in Spain to retire there in the next few years, is there is an annual property tax in Spain the way that we have it here in united state? Thank you :)
Hi there! Yes, I do pay annual property taxes. The tax amount is between 0.4 and 1.1 percent of the property's value which is based on a property survey.
That's a great question. In the US I know it's possible, but I haven't tried that in Spain. I would imagine it's possible as long as it doesn't conflict with regional laws, building rules, and that you get permission from the landlord in the lease.
@@traveltomoney I’ve seen apartments on idealista for 100k euros, do you have to pay that at once or is their a percentage of the price that you pay down?
@@rahnbm when I wanted my house to be held for me, I had to put around 10 or 20% down. I think it's just up to the owner or realtor to determine what that amount is.
You fogot to mention the price of an alarm system/contract with security company otherwise some okupas could move in and a deal to get him/them out could cost you 1.5k+
Hi I'm on the process of buying an apartment in Granada Spain. My worry is that some apartments do not qualify to be put on Air BnB. Is there a way I can find that out before I purchase the property?
Hi Raul! A couple if things I would recommend. 1. See if your solicitor can find out information for you. Mine was fantastic when it came to anything of that sort. 2. Town hall is generally where you register for a tourist license. Going to your local town hall to ask questions could be helpful. 3. From what I've read, there was a new law passed in Spain in 2019 stating that in apartment buildings, if three-fifths of the residents in the building decide against short-term rentals, then it may be prohibited in that specific building. I have no idea how strictly it is being enforced. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to help. 🙂 Congrats on your purchase!
Why do you speculate on housing in other countries? Why don't you do it in your own countries and stop destroying society and real life of others. Barcelona marks the way. #stopairbnb.

do you actually have to buy the apartment? Or can you rent it and list it on Airbnb too?

Just been scared away of all the stupid rules of Spain 😱
the 25% tax rate is a real number or it was made up? is that for foreigners or EU citizens? ty
It's for non-residents. I'm not sure if that includes members of the EU or not. It's currently 24%.
@@traveltomoney could you please point us in the direction where this information is found online? any government sites? ty
