Thanks, will do! I might do a walk-around video of the car and show the different factory accessories that I added right after the purchase. I got every available option from the accessory catalog, and I had the dealer put everything on so it would be covered under the Honda warranty. I am also planning to upgrade the OEM "premium" sound system with better speakers, subwoofer, dedicated amps, and signal processors. The factory sound system is decent, but it definitely leaves a lot to be desired in terms of clarity and low-end fill... the factory subwoofer is woefully inadequate. I'll certainly do a video on that when it happens. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Thanks for the feedback! I've been busy with my other projects and moto-vlogging lately, but I intend to do a full walk-around video and a 5000-mile owner's impressions video on the Accord soon. I'm also planning to record a 360° ride-along video so it will be as close to being in the car as possible. You can watch a similar 360° video that I recorded here to get an idea of what that might look like in the car: ruclips.net/video/aBXFJwAR6_4/видео.html . Cheers! 👍 --QM
Howdy, David... and thx for the sentiments! I'll be posting some back-logged content from late last year, and then I'm hoping to get out and make some new memories as soon as the lock-downs end and the parks reopen! Cheers! 👍 --QM
Hello I’m a new sub ! I’ve watched most of all your ryker videos very informative and useful ! I just purchased a Ryker Rally and it’s being delivered tomorrow on Tuesday I’m super excited ! Hope to see more Ryker vids soon !
Thanks for the sub and the feedback! I'm digging through piles of video footage to start editing and posting again now. I just uploaded a fresh Ryker commute video today, and there will be more coming soon! Cheers, and congrats on your new Ryker! 👍 --QM
Just sold my '16 Acura TLX Advance and purchased a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T. Overall, I'm very pleased and impressed. I've owned 19 cars in my lifetime. 10 of them were Hondas and 8 of them were Acuras. Wanted to replace my '16 TLX with a newer '19 TLX but searched for months and couldn't find one suitable. I knew all about the Accord's redesign in '18 and started considering it as an alternative. Came across the '20 Touring with only 7k miles and at a reasonable price so I decided to pull the trigger. So far, I have no regrets. The engine is a jewel. No car is perfect and I have a few gripes but they're all reasonably minor. My TLX had a much better sound system which I miss and shockingly, the Accord's gas tank is on the small side, holding almost 3 gallons fewer than my Acura would. The 19" tires are a little noisier than my Acura's too. The LKAS on my TLX was spot on and kept me centered. Like yours, my Accord wants to keep me very close to the left line. The Accord drives great though and that torquey engine just tempts me all the time to press the gas pedal harder. It is very roomy and comfortable. I'm glad I bought it. Mine is Lunar Silver Metallic with gray interior. I do plan to get back into an Acura though. The extra little intangibles are nice. I'm eyeing a '22 TLX Type S in about a year and a half.
Thanks for the feedback, Andy! Congrats on your new Accord! I agree on all points. I'm overdue to record and post my 1-year owner's review on my Accord... I'll try to get that out soon. My top 5 likes and hates will be in that video as well. The somewhat harsh suspension, the "floaty" front shocks, and the weak sound system are definitely at the top of the "hates". I have some Focal speakers and AudioControl DSP amps just sitting in boxes waiting to be installed to fix the audio problem. 😉 The engine is definitely at the top of the "likes", and the car's overall road manners are very good. I've only put ~9K miles on mine so far because I've been riding my motorcycles more lately... not to mention that my usual 45-65K mile yearly commute has dropped by about 50% since C-19 happened. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Thanks, and congrats back to you! Did your Sport come with the upgraded audio system? My only disappointment with my car so far is the "premium" audio system... that's going to get an upgrade very soon. Otherwise, it's a great car and gets very good fuel economy considering the performance level. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard Yes mine did, I think here in Ontario Canada we get some differences in trims, like my sport Ridgeline came with sunroof, higher trim centre screen, and leather was an option, + SH-AWD, etc...as for Accord audio...it's do awesome and better than 2016 EXT civic I traded in which was very good.
@@QuasiMotard the performance is surprising, I heard it's been dyno-ed at 280 HP and torque 273 ish, I burn tires even making left or right turn and still have control and spin tires even in third gear.
@@TheKingkingg Check out the specs for the Hondata FlashPro: prlmotorsports.com/hondataflashproaccord2018us20turbo.aspx . It's only $695 USD for a big jump in performance (see the dyno graphs on that page). Adding a downpipe and a new airbox can bump another 30+ HP, pushing it into the mid 300's HP and high 300's torque... that's impressive for a Japanese family sedan! 😉 --QM
Hey man. I just purchased a 2020 Accord Sport 2.0t in White Platinum Pearl, it's sweet! Had a 2017 Civic EX-T before. I love it I live past the woodlands but commute to Houston for work. Galleria area, I'm a computer tech
Howdy, neighbor! Congrats on your new Accord! Which interior color did you get? I wanted the black, but none of the dealers in Texas had one back in February when I bought mine. I really like the white pearl, but I'm not so fond of the light-colored interiors. Cheers! 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard Black interior! Black headliner, man it makes a difference. I got this past Sunday. Funny thing is, I only went in for routine oil change. While waiting, causal talk with a salesman allowed me to make the mistake of what I would get, the Accord 2.0t. he went to check his inventory and said there might be one he didn't know about. Sure enough we found it. 6 miles on it, still had plastic on steering wheel and seat. Never test driven. I was the first! It was manufactured 8/2020 delivered on 9/30 and wasn't inventoried right. Well I ended up buying it lol. I understand this car is sought-after. It was meant to be
I had a 2020 Accord Touring 2.0T for about 6 months. ( I had to sell it for financial reasons) I loved it, and plan to get another one EXACTLY like I had. Pearl White with the cream colored leather. Its a great car!! A lot of car for the money.
I just bought a 2020 touring model, white:) I noticed the audio isn't as good as my last Honda which was 2017 touring coupe. what do you have your audio settings at ?
Agreed! That's my only real complaint about the 2020 Touring... the audio system leaves a LOT to be desired. I'm a bit of an audio snob because I did high-end car audio for nearly 2 decades, so I'm more particular about audio quality than most people would be. The sound is quite "hollow" in the Accord, and the factory subwoofer is only good at medium-low volume levels. The factory amp starts taking out bass above volume-15 to avoid clipping or overheating. I found a video on YT with a hack to disable the hidden factory equalizer "optimizations", and it seemed to improve mid-bass a little bit, but nothing spectacular: ruclips.net/video/G6o0zHZt6KM/видео.html . I can't remember where I've left the EQ curves and subwoofer levels, but it's just passable at best, IMHO. So, my fix for this is to upgrade the entire system while retaining the OEM head unit (can't change that because of all of the integrations and CAN bus stuff). My plan is to replace all of the speakers with Focal components, rework the damping and sound insulation throughout the car (DynaMat, Thinsulate, and Low-E closed-cell foam), and then drive everything with an AudioControl D-6.1200 for the full-range and a LC-1.800 for the subwoofer. I might add an AudioControl Epienter Plus for the bass control. I haven't decided which subwoofers or enclosure yet... I'll probably go with a pair of JL Audio 10's or maybe the Focal FLAX 10's in a custom sealed box. I don't want BIG bass... just tight, controlled, clear sound with some real bottom-end to it. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Thx for the feedback! That's great that you're MSF'd and ready to ride! The Ryker is a great gateway machine to get people into riding. I'll be posting several queued-up videos from late last year and then I'll (hopefully) be out riding and motocamping again soon! Cheers! 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard I went with the black interior they had the white interior but my concern was keeping clean, if i did get a darker color touring model i would have chosen white just for the nice aesthetic. I am here in Southern CAL
do you feel any jerkiness with your 2.0t? I feel a little bit of jerkiness when braking and sometimes in the beginning of accelerating and also the car shakes a bit after turning off the engine. I heard some people say this car has that bc of all the gears it goes through but others have said it’s supposed to be smooth
I've noticed a bit of transmission jerkiness where there shouldn't be. It seems to lurch and forget where it's at while shifting at low speeds and low throttle positions. I've noticed that it's more common when the engine is still cold in the mornings. I haven't noticed a rough engine shutdown or braking with my Accord. If you feel pulsating in your brakes, then that's usually due to a warped brake rotor or a belt separated in the tire (usually front tires). My biggest gripe with my Touring model is the floaty, bouncy front suspension. In "normal" drive mode, the front of the car porpoises over ripples in the road (front bounces up and down, but the rear end is settled). It's less noticeable in "sport" mode, but it's still there. It seems like the front spring rate is too soft, and the front struts are insufficiently damped. I rented a Mazda 6 Touring for a few days, and it had MUCH better suspension and a smoother ride than my Accord Touring. I currently have about 22K miles on mine right now, and I suspect that the front struts will need to be replaced before 50K miles. They're gonna be expensive (electrically adjustable), so I hope that my 8-year extended warranty covers it. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
I'm also is Houston and am considering probably the LX version because the roads are not great...but with the black car, do you notice a difference in temperature WHILE driving? Like AC struggling, etc.
Congrats on your upcoming Accord purchase! I haven't noticed any heat problems while moving. The AC is able to cool the car down quickly after heat soak from sitting in the sun. I have a WeatherTech sunshade that I put in the windshield to keep extra heat out of the interior and off the dash, but it still gets very hot inside... black on black is always problematic in Texas. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
I have the white exterior with the ivory interior in Phoenix - gets super cool very quickly, and stays cool. If I'm driving for more than 10-15 minutes I end up pushing the auto temp to 76°+ to stay comfortable👍
Appreciate the review. I’m cross shopping this car against a Stinger in the event I don’t find what I’m looking for and need to make concessions. S/N - what education/certifications would you recommend for someone looking to get into your field?
Thx for the feedback! The Stinger is a really nice car, and the 3.3T is definitely quicker than the Accord 2.0T... economy is worse, though. As for the career path, that's a tough question. I've been in this industry for about 33 years, and I started consulting when I was only 17 yrs old. I went down the traditional path of BS in Computer Sciences, but that roadmap has changed radically over the past three decades. I specialized in networking, infrastructure design, and security early in my career, then I also certified with all of the top vendors in the field. That opened a lot of doors for me during the Internet and DotCom booms... right place at the right time, and I ended up as one of only 18 people in the world with a particular set of highly desirable certs in the early days. If I had to start over today, I would definitely go down the security path again because that's where all of the action is now. InfoSec and cybersecurity are the hotbeds of activity because of all of the evolving threats and rampant fraud on public networks. Obtaining industry or vendor-specific certs in those fields can be just as crucial as a BS/BA degree (sometimes even more so) because those are usually more applicable skills than general CIS degrees. For example, most CISSP's start out near $100K/year, and additional certs in network infrastructure and/or high-level programming languages will drive up that figure quickly to the $200+ range (assuming that the candidates also have experience in the field). Further specialization into vertical markets like PCI compliance or HIPAA auditing can be even more lucrative. You can expect long hours and plenty of lost sleep, but it's never dull! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard Wow! That was a super comprehensive and helpful reply. I'm definitely going to begin looking into those suggestions tomorrow. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Will do! I only have ~3500 miles on it now, so I'll probably wait until around 6-8K before I start tweaking it. My plans are to install the Hondata Stage 2 with the PRL airbox, downpipe, midpipe, and intercooler. That should bump it up into the 330 HP and 380 ft-lb torque range. I will certainly have it dyno tested to be sure that we're running within the right parameters. It won't set the world on fire or match my 700+ WHP Mitsubishi Galant VR-4, but it's certainly more sophisticated and comfortable as a daily driver. 😉👍 --QM
This was a refreshingly nice video about the form and function of the car, thank you for making this. One of these will definitely be my next vehicle purchase. So how are you liking the car four months later?
Thanks for the feedback! I've owned the car for ~6 months now and I have about 4K miles on it (not driving it much since COVID-19 started, using my motorcycles and truck more). The Accord is a great car, and I am really enjoying it. I'm still planning to do a full walk-around video and to do a review of the Honda accessories that I installed on mine. I only have a few complaints about the car so far. My first gripe is a personal one (not the car's fault), and that's the quality of the "premium" sound system. I don't think the sound is quite up to par, so I will be upgrading the audio system to give more balanced sound and more bottom-end (not big bass, just more depth/warmth). I will be replacing the speakers with higher-quality units (including a better subwoofer), and maybe upgrading to external amplifiers. Again... this is just a personal preference. One of my previous careers was in professional car audio, so I know how a good stereo "should" sound. 😉 My second issue with the car is that the front suspension tends to float and bounce around more than the rear, so this makes the car feel slightly out of balance. I can drive around with sport mode enabled, which helps to stiffen the front suspension somewhat, but that also changes the engine and steering performance. It would be nice if the suspension mode and engine performance modes could be selected independently... or just have slightly stiffer (or re-valved) front shocks to avoid the "float". The last issue is with the wheels and suspension. I had a strange issue about 2 months ago while driving down IH-10 in rush hour traffic... all of the emergency and dash lights went crazy, warning about "collision avoidance", "adaptive cruise control", "lane keep assist" failures... all failed simultaneously. However, the car seemed to be driving just fine. I stopped and checked the front of the car (specifically the front radar sensor) and everything looked OK. I started driving again and everything seemed normal. The next morning, I took it to Honda to be checked and I got a huge surprise: the right-front suspension was almost completely destroyed! The inside edge of the right front wheel was dented in over 1", the upper ball joint was broken, and the right control arm was bent/deformed... all from an apparent road hazard or impact with something. The damage estimate was $2600 and not covered by warranty, so I had to make an insurance claim. I don't remember hitting anything that significant (like a curb or debris on the road), and whatever impact may have happened was long before the car freaked out... I was traveling on very smooth pavement in the main lanes of IH-10 when the alarms went off. Houston is full of potholes, so this must have been just a "normal" occurrence. That means that the aluminum in the wheels and suspension might be a little soft and prone to damage. Time will tell if that's the case... I'll just be extra careful to avoid rough spots when I can from now on. Cheers! 👍 --QM
For some reason my dear old dad used to trade in his cars every 3 years. I think it was because he could get more money out of them and the buyer knew that he could get a lot of use out of them. Same thing with televisions. 🤔🇨🇱
Nice Video! How come you don't use the trip computer for tracking Vs the pics ? 21 model has wireless AA...I wish mine had that too :( i got a 19..I swapped out my tuor I ng wheels to the sport 19 and changed tires and rides a lot better, but the adaptive suspension still gives us a firmer ride nonetheless
Thanks for the feedback and for your updates on your wheels/tires! I use the trip computer to track fill-ups (trip A) and oil changes (trip B). The pictures are for recording my mileage stats and posting them on Fuelly ( fuelly.com/driver/QuasiMotard ). I post the mileage stats for most of my motorcycles and a couple of my cars on there for the community. I'm a stats geek and hyper-miler, so those figures help other people to gauge relative efficiencies between different vehicles and/or driving habits. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
I have several cars and trucks right now, but my previous daily driver was a 2011 Mazda 3 Sport sedan. The Mazda has been handed down to my son for his first car, so I needed another car for myself. I had been seriously considering buying either the 2020 BMW M2 Competition or the 2020 Porsche Cayman, but that would have been an extravagant purchase just for me... nobody else in the family would drive those cars. So, I did the responsible, adult thing and purchased a family sedan instead. 😉👍 --QM
Thanks for sending the info on the accord, it was helpful. One last thing i washed my car at Costco and the windsheild wipers get going, i believe its the sensing issue how do you turn it off.
Sorry for the late reply... you probably already figured this out by now. The automatic rain-sensing wipers are controlled by the stalk on the right of the steering wheel. The highest position upward is OFF, and one click down is the auto-sensing position. You can just disable the automatic option by leaving it in the OFF position and then lifting to the "mist" wipe momentary position whenever needed. 😉👍 --QM
Hello great video! I am also a honda owner and have the same issue with lane keep assist. My suggestion is next time you go service ask them to check out if there is any updates on the honda sensing system. Hope that helps.
Great suggestion! I plan to take it in soon because there is something rattling on the right side when I hit sharp bumps (sounds like the side skirt or maybe something in the right-rear fender well area). I'll ask them to check for any open TSB's, recalls, and/or software updates while they have it. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Good choice! Are you interested in the 10-speed auto or the 6-speed manual? The manual was very tempting to me, but it's not available in the Touring trim that I wanted. Cheers, and happy shopping! 👍 --QM
QuasiMotard I’m not exactly sure yet. I think I’m leaning more towards the 10 speed automatic but I haven’t decided. After viewing your video a second time, I might consider looking at the touring edition as well. I would definitely like to see another vlog in your touring. Was very interesting to see👍🏻
I'll try to post a more "review-oriented" video on the car soon with a full walk-around to show the features and options that I've added to it. I'll also try to add a few more POV shots with 0-60 and roll-on runs. I might get creative and do a 360-VR POV (passenger side) video with my GoPro MAX (or Fusion360) paired up with the Zoom H3-VR audio recorder. I need to find a decent racing camera mount for the passenger headrest for that video, though... hmm... we'll see. 😉👍 --QM
Great video. I have a 2018 Sport 2.0T and I also purchased the 8 year 100,000 warranty like you. I would like to get the Hondata but I'm worried about voiding my warranty. Great video, very informative. Subscribed.
Thx for the feedback and the sub! Most of my channel content is motorcycle-related, but I will be doing a few more videos on the Accord 2.0T. I'm planning to do an OEM accessory review for the Accord because I have nearly EVERY factory accessory installed on my car. I'm also planning to do a full video series on the power upgrades when that happens. A buddy of mine owns a high-end speed shop, so he will be installing the go fast goodies on my car for me. We'll be recording the process including the pre and post dyno runs and related bits. Cheers! 👍 --QM
I think a Honda might be my next vehicle because of the ACC. I have to wait for my Prius to die first, though. I've heard turbos like clean oil. I like 5k oil & filter changes. Looking in the 2020 manual, I couldn't find maintenance intervals. But I want to get a dirtbike and tow it places. The 2.0 Accord is rated to tow 1000lbs. (if I remember right) Was wondering if yours was as cvt or not. It seems the 2021 models have manual and cvt options only.
Howdy, Ben! I'll dig up my manuals tomorrow to find the service info for you. The 2.0T Touring model only comes with the 10-speed auto transmission this year. The 2.0T Sport is available with the 6-speed manual or the 10-speed auto... not sure about the CVT. I think that the 1.5T has all three transmissions in all trim levels, but I could be mistaken. Towing capacity is a good question... I would assume 1000-1500 pounds (like most sedans), but I don't know about the transmission... it might need additional cooling if it's permitted/allowed under warranty. I'll see what I can find in the manuals and send it your way. Cheers! 👍 ‐‐QM
it’s so interesting how different the ride is with the bigger wheels. i have the hybrid touring and it rides as smooth as a lexus with the 17s. the 2.0 was great to test but 50 mpg was too good to pass up
I was originally looking for the Hybrid Touring, but there weren't any available in Texas at the time. I wanted that hybrid for the fuel economy... high 40's to low 50's city or highway... that's awesome! However, the grunt of the 2.0T sold me... it's a lot of fun to drive. If I can keep my foot out of it (almost never), then I can get ~35 MPG on the highway at 75 MPH... not bad at all. I've been busy with other projects and neber circled back to make more Accord videos. I plan to do the top 5 likes/dislikes and a 10K mile owner's review soon. The wheels and the under-damped front suspension are on the top of my dislikes list. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Yep, I found that in the main "applications" menu. It's nice, but it doesn't start automatically like previous Honda infotainment systems. I wish that the clock display in the top-left corner of most of the screens was just a bit larger... easier to read at a glance instead of REALLY looking for it (and not at the road). 😉👍 --QM
No, not yet... I'll probably do those upgrades later this fall. I've been playing with my motorcycles and upgrading them this summer, so the car will be next! 😉👍 -QM
Haha! 😄 I've seen that hack, but I haven't tried it yet with my Accord. I'm too "old school"... it's too hard for me to relinquish control to a computer. 👍 --QM
I have a champagne frost pearl with ivory interior 2020 Accord Touring 2.0T . Overall I am very happy with my 5th Accord though it’s missing a few features that should have been standard for the price, heated steering wheel, 360 degree camera and a branded higher end stereo system and standard rear USB ports. Several times the touchscreen will power off and reboot while driving. Very annoying! Gas mileage has improved after first service at 5000 miles. 19.8 mpg first 5k miles after service 22.5... A rattle has started in the dash from the head up display. The aluminum wheels are good looking but they aren’t flush with the tire and they are easy to curb rash.
Agreed! The OEM "premium" stereo leaves a lot to be desired in terms of audio quality. I did high-end car audio for about a decade, so I'm a bit pickier than most when it comes to audio quality. I have already purchased two sets of Focal 6.75" component speakers and a better 8" sub for the rear deck. I will probably add an AudioControl LC-6.1200 and a LC-1.800 (or LC-1.1500) to drive everything and reprocess the audio for more balanced sound. The head unit lockup/reboot issue is supposedly resolved with the latest firmware update, so you might want to check into that... you can download it from the Honda/Garmin website: owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2020/Accord-Sedan/features/System-Updates I added the OEM accessory USB charger sockets in the back of the center console for the rear seat passengers... that should have been included, for sure. The 360 camera option would be nice, but I think that Honda reserves those high-end options for the Acura line... not sure if any of the Honda lineup is available with that option yet. As for the wheels, I noticed that issue immediately... I'm dreading the day that I curb rash my wheels. The OEM Michelin Primacy tires don't have any rim protection bulge at the bead area like some other tires have. For now, I'm just being extra careful to stay far away from the curbs. I think a set of aftermarket tires with more lip/rim protection might help the situation... maybe something 10mm wider would give enough overhang to protect the wheels a bit better. Cheers! 👍 --QM
I have the 1.5 sport, not as quick as the 2.0 but still a decent car for the price and tech features compared with other car vendors in that price segment. I see you live in Houston as well because i see you driving I-10/katy freeway.. lol
Thx for the feedback! It's been a while, that's for sure... time really goes fast. I'll be posting a bunch of content over the next couple of weeks, and then I hope to keep a steady flow going until my next busy season. Cheers! 👍 --QM
If you haven't already downloaded the owner's manual from Honda, then you can find it here: owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2020/Accord-Sedan/manuals There is a master-enable button on the lower-left of the dash panel near the driver's door that enables the system (icon of a car with a circle around it). There are also two buttons on the lower-right of the steering wheel that enable/disable the lane-keeping assist (LKAS) and adaptive cruise control (ACC). You can use those two features together or independently. I've noticed that the LKAS tends to be a bit intrusive around town, so I only use it on the highway. The ACC is great and works well anywhere above 35 mph, and it will allow you to decelerate down to a stop while still on cruise and then resume when traffic moves away. I always maintain control over both systems just in case of a logic error, like the LKAS trying to steer me into the highway pickets or crash barriers near merge/exit lanes... that's a serious flaw in my opinion. Another minor thing to note about the LKAS is that sometimes it won't detect the lane markers on one or both sides, so it won't work properly. You can adjust your HUD mode to show the LKAS and ACC status so that it shows the lane markers/bars on the sides of the car. If either of those is not illuminated, then the LKAS won't be engaged. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Road noise is horrible , drove from Houston to okc very good good handling and power on some road, 90 mph no vibrations , it was quiet on some tar roads but some roads it was like ur hearing a jet . And I can hear ur cars road noise 😬
I have about 2500 miles on the car right now. I haven't been driving it as much as I normally would because of the virus lockdown stuff... working from home more over the past 6 weeks than usual. Have you checked your tire pressures to be sure that they are 35-38 PSI? That seems to help most of my cars get better highway fuel economy. Is your car the 2.0T with the 10-speed automatic transmission? 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard yep! My tire pressure is in the normal range too. I wasn't sure if it's still in the break in period. I have 3000 miles but mostly in Boston so cold and crowded city... I recently did a highway but it's barely 30 mpg so make me start to wonder what could go wrong
It could be a difference in fuel blends. We have a different blend here in the Gulf Coast region than elsewhere in the country. It could also be an elevation issue. We are just above sea level here in Houston with an average of only ~105 feet... denser air generally gives more power and efficiency. --QM
I can feel it firm-up a bit in sport mode, but there is still quite a bit of front-end "float" that I wish I could tame. It would also be nice if you could set the suspension and engine map separately. I'd like to set the suspension on "sport/firm" with the "normal" engine mode, but that's not possible as far as I know. Maybe an ECU flash or similar hack could allow for custom mode settings. 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard Agreed. I wonder if KTuner can do it? That's my #1 wish, setting the suspension and steering separately from the powertrain mode. I'd keep the suspension in sport the majority of the time. The dampers seem to make a noticeable difference in body roll when cornering aggressively. They tame the float a noticeable amount but it's still an Accord. I guess I didn't expect as much. I was impressed there was any tangible difference at all honestly.
The interior is very quiet over all. My only gripe is the tires... they are a bit noisy on Houston's concrete highways, and they tend squirm around in rain grooves a little too much. Otherwise, the new Accord is a great highway car. I just burned ~480 miles today in it traveling to San Antonio and back... it was quiet and smooth all the way! 👍 --QM
No... I always run mid-grade or premium because it has a turbocharged engine. The owner's manual doesn't specify the use of premium fuel in the Accord 2.0T, but the Civic Type-R uses the same engine and it requires premium. I'm sure that the knock sensors and computer will reduce boost pressure and ignition timing to compensate for lower fuel grades, but I want that power! This thing really hustles for a family sedan. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Junk in the trunk! ruclips.net/video/YWIBOQE8UVE/видео.html LOL! 🤣 I'm an enterprise network consultant, so I handle lots of outsourced IT tasks for my customers. I had just returned from a 550-mile round trip to Austin, San Antonio, and back to Houston the previous day. I had and another 600-mile trip just two days prior where I was hauling ~1400 pounds of servers in my old beater Ford F150. I'm always running around doing something! Cheers! 👍 --QM
Agreed. However, the owner's manual lists 87 (R+M/2) as a minimum recommend fuel. The Accord's 2.0T motor is the same mill that powers the Civic Type-R, and Honda recommends a minimum of 91 in that car. The CTR runs the engine under a different performance envelope, so that's the reason for the higher minimum fuel AKI (anti-knock index) rating. Generally speaking, running higher octane fuel than needed won't hurt the motor, but it can reduce power/efficiency due to the fuel's resistance to ignition. It does hurt your wallet a bit more though! 😉 Turbocharged cars are more prone to detonation (pre-ignition knock/ping) because of the increased intake air temperatures (IAT) created by the compressed air from the turbo. Intercoolers used in these designs (technically, air-to-air heat exchangers) can reduce the IAT's to within a few degrees of ambient temperature during normal runtime, but high boost conditions will "heat soak" the exchanger and then you will have large spikes in the IAT that can lead to pre-ignition. The higher the boost, the higher the fuel octane/AKI rating you'll need in order to prevent pre-ignition or detonation. When the ECU "hears" knock/ping, then it will retard the ignition timing and drop boost to maintain safe operating limits for the engine... that means less power under your foot when you want/need it. Houston's hot weather raises the IAT's up fairly high anyway, so I want to give a bit of headroom for the fuel (and ECU) to behave "normally" for me. Anyway, fuel is cheap right now, so I don't mind the extra pennies at the pump... although that might change when fuel prices jump back up above $3/gallon. 😉👍 --QM

Thanks, Korky! I have a few Cub videos queued up for editing, so I'll try to post those soon. I'm anxious to get back out on the road... this social lockdown really sucks. Cheers! 👍 --QM
I played nice with it for the first 600 miles and drove around mostly on surface streets with a few short highway runs (commuting). I also had the first service done very early at ~1500 miles. I usually stick with the traditional wisdom: no full-throttle blasts for the first several hours of engine operation, no extended high-speed runs, try not to maintain steady speeds or RPM's for too long, no extended idling, etc. However, most modern automotive engines are fully broken-in at the factory before they are shipped out to dealers. The factory does full run-in calibration testing of the engines, ECU, emissions control closed-loop tests, etc. After I crossed the ~600 mile threshold, I took the gloves off... no more Mr. Nice Guy. 😉 I routinely flog the hell out of it now. For a family sedan, it has a LOT of midrange grunt and the 0-60 mph pulls are a hoot! I only have about 6K miles on it now (mostly driving my truck and motorcycles this year). Cheers! 👍 --QM
I wasn't full throttle, but probably 85-90%. The Accord 2.0T really hustles for its size & weight. The 0-60 mph launches can be quicker, but I usually run my tires on the firm side (~35 PSI)... that hurts front traction a bit for hard launches. Cheers! 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard yeah I've seen it time and time again. I wish I would've gotten one but it's good that I've waited. I've seen what it's about and now I'm just waiting for a better sound system and panoramic moonroof like my optima. But my 2.4 can't perform or handle like the accord 😂
Thanks for the feedback! I planned to more in-car POV videos in the Accord, but I haven't had time to figure out what to share. I'm thinking about a 360° with some binaural audio from the passenger seat or something interesting. There are already lots of other very good Accord upgrade & performance videos out there. If you have any video ideas, then leave me a note here or at quasimotard@gmail.com . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Good choice! The new Accord is a really nice car. The highway manners are excellent, too. I just burned ~480 highway miles today driving to San Antonio and back... smooth and quiet at 75-80 mph for the entire trip. 😉👍 --QM
Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement. I will be posting a bunch of content over the next couple of weeks, and then I hope to keep the momentum going! Cheers! 👍 --QM
Ohh nooo we can't buy it over here, it is not coming to Europe . We have a big civic but no Accord..... Well can't effort it anyway.... it would cost just about 75000 dollars in Denmark where I'm I'm from ......
Ouch, that's expensive! My wife is from Brazil, and the prices on Honda's are very expensive there as well. Her first car here in the USA was a 2000 Honda Accord EX-V6 sedan. I paid ~$32000 USD for it when it was new, and the equivalent cost for that car in Brazil was over $80000 USD! All of her friends and relatives thought that we were "rich"! 🤣 --QM

Yep, that's always how it works... I wait for the bugs to be worked out, and then the next year model has everything that mine was missing. 🤣 According to the rumors, Honda was testing the idea to offer 2018+ Accord, Pilot, and Odyssey owners a paid software upgrade ($25-50) that enables wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. I would pay that in a heart beat to have the wireless convenience. Now Honda is embroiled in their huge safety recall, so that software upgrade will probably be put on the back burner for a while. 👍 --QM
Ok, pandemic protection content. Wear gloves while pumping gas, keep a bottle of hand sanitizer (12 oz. with a pump) in the cup holder pocket in the door. 😷
Agreed! For a laugh, check my next video post for the Ryker... I couldn't resist making that intro pic. I had also planned to wear my hi-viz yellow rain suit, but it was just too hot outside. 😉 In all seriousness though, I need to find a few boxes of nitrile gloves for my work commutes and daily interactions with my customers. Unfortunately, every retailer around here seems to be sold out of them. 👍 --QM
I enjoyed this accord POV video. You got a great attitude and you are knowledgeable about your vehicle. Please do more of these.
Cheers! 👍 --QM
QuasiMotard please do it as soon as possible
I literally felt like I was in the passenger seat. This was so, so good...enjoyed from beginning to end. This is gonna be my next car by the way!
Cheers! 👍 --QM
Good to see you're alright and the videos are beginning again.

The engine is definitely at the top of the "likes", and the car's overall road manners are very good. I've only put ~9K miles on mine so far because I've been riding my motorcycles more lately... not to mention that my usual 45-65K mile yearly commute has dropped by about 50% since C-19 happened. Cheers! 👍 --QM
Congratulations, just picked up my 2020 Sport 2.0 last week and loving it
Thanks, and congrats back to you!

I love it
I live past the woodlands but commute to Houston for work.
Cheers! 👍 --QM
Great to see you back. Because of you I took a MSF class and now looking for a Ryker. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thx for the feedback! That's great that you're MSF'd and ready to ride! The Ryker is a great gateway machine to get people into riding. I'll be posting several queued-up videos from late last year and then I'll (hopefully) be out riding and motocamping again soon! Cheers! 👍 --QM
I just got my touring in white and i am really happy with it.
Congratulations on your new Accord! Did you opt for the grey or black interior? I wanted white/black, but couldn't find one near me in Texas. 👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard
I went with the black interior they had the white interior but my concern was keeping clean, if i did get a darker color touring model i would have chosen white just for the nice aesthetic.
Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard thank you for the detailed response! Will try to go to the dealership and hopefully warranty covers.
Looking forward to the mods in the future, keep us posted
My second issue with the car is that the front suspension tends to float and bounce around more than the rear, so this makes the car feel slightly out of balance.
Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Love the touring Honda. Very quick. What did you have before this car?
Cheers! 👍 --QM
Great video! I plan on getting the 2020 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 turbo since the prices are down at my local dealership.
I need to find a decent racing camera mount for the passenger headrest for that video, though... hmm... we'll see. 😉👍 --QM
QuasiMotard Awesome! I look forward to viewing your video. Have a great day man and stay safe.

Cheers! 👍 --QM
There is a full screen clock option somewhere - I know because I used it in my '19 2.0 Touring the other day 😁
Yep, I found that in the main "applications" menu. It's nice, but it doesn't start automatically like previous Honda infotainment systems. I wish that the clock display in the top-left corner of most of the screens was just a bit larger... easier to read at a glance instead of REALLY looking for it (and not at the road). 😉👍 --QM
In your review you mention Hondata stage 2 & an exhaust mod. Have you made the mods yet?
No, not yet... I'll probably do those upgrades later this fall. I've been playing with my motorcycles and upgrading them this summer, so the car will be next! 😉👍 -QM
I heard if you tune the car we will void are warranty? How true is this?
Look up “water battle hack” for highway driving :) works wonders.
The head unit lockup/reboot issue is supposedly resolved with the latest firmware update, so you might want to check into that... you can download it from the Honda/Garmin website: owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2020/Accord-Sedan/features/System-Updates
I added the OEM accessory USB charger sockets in the back of the center console for the rear seat passengers... that should have been included, for sure.
I see you live in Houston as well because i see you driving I-10/katy freeway.. lol
Good to hear from you
Thx for the feedback! It's been a while, that's for sure... time really goes fast. I'll be posting a bunch of content over the next couple of weeks, and then I hope to keep a steady flow going until my next busy season. Cheers! 👍 --QM
How do you the adaptive lane keep in the touring? my dealership didnt tell me
If you haven't already downloaded the owner's manual from Honda, then you can find it here: owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2020/Accord-Sedan/manuals
There is a master-enable button on the lower-left of the dash panel near the driver's door that enables the system (icon of a car with a circle around it).
Cheers! 👍 --QM
Did you sold the handa accord ?
Because long time since last video
Any updates
New video about the accord will be good idea 😂
Road noise is horrible , drove from Houston to okc very good good handling and power on some road, 90 mph no vibrations , it was quiet on some tar roads but some roads it was like ur hearing a jet . And I can hear ur cars road noise 😬
That milage is impressive. I have the same spec 2019, but on 75 highway I can never get past 30mpg? So weird... how many miles have you driven?
--QM
The sport mode suspension is quite a bit firmer imo.
Seems like a quiet ride on the highway.
👍 --QM
Do you use regular 87 gas in this car?
Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Trunk full of computer junk lol , road trips. What do you do?
Junk in the trunk! ruclips.net/video/YWIBOQE8UVE/видео.html LOL! 🤣 I'm an enterprise network consultant, so I handle lots of outsourced IT tasks for my customers. I had just returned from a 550-mile round trip to Austin, San Antonio, and back to Houston the previous day. I had and another 600-mile trip just two days prior where I was hauling ~1400 pounds of servers in my old beater Ford F150. I'm always running around doing something! Cheers! 👍 --QM
93 octane? Car only needs 87. Honda recommends 87 for the 2018-2020 accord 2.0t.
Turbocharged cars are more prone to detonation (pre-ignition knock/ping) because of the increased intake air temperatures (IAT) created by the compressed air from the turbo. 😉👍 --QM
@@QuasiMotard I got my accord 2.0t in 2018 May. I have been using 87 octane and have not had any problems.
You are lucky not to live in the UK...Looking forward to more super cub vids as no bugger is bothering with the cub now its all monkey bike this and monkey bike that...Stay well and safe...
Thanks, Korky! I have a few Cub videos queued up for editing, so I'll try to post those soon. I'm anxious to get back out on the road... this social lockdown really sucks. Cheers! 👍 --QM
How did you break it in?
Cheers! 👍 --QM
That 73-96 pull made me realize how slow my car is 😂 were you even going full throttle?
Tbh this is an awesome video
Thanks for the feedback! I planned to more in-car POV videos in the Accord, but I haven't had time to figure out what to share. I'm thinking about a 360° with some binaural audio from the passenger seat or something interesting. There are already lots of other very good Accord upgrade & performance videos out there. If you have any video ideas, then leave me a note here or at quasimotard@gmail.com . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Great video, I am trading in my 2018 Malibu for this accord next month.
Good choice! The new Accord is a really nice car. The highway manners are excellent, too. I just burned ~480 highway miles today driving to San Antonio and back... smooth and quiet at 75-80 mph for the entire trip. 😉👍 --QM
I missed your videos
Thanks for the feedback and the encouragement. I will be posting a bunch of content over the next couple of weeks, and then I hope to keep the momentum going! Cheers! 👍 --QM
Awesome content keep it up excellent
Thanks for the feedback! More videos are coming soon! 👍 --QM
that remote gate tho
🤣 --QM
@@QuasiMotard some cars like, Mercedes and Porsche is 180 % tax on top of the actual pris so...... i have a new suzuki baleno 1.3 cheap car, still its over 20000. Same whit motorcykel ..... and the driver licenses for motorbikes over 50 cc is about 2000 dollars. So i ride a Honda nsc 50cc scooter.....Soooo yerrh denmark suchs on that part. Hey man i have watch all of yours videos on youtube, for real. Im down whit a bad bag so i can't ride right now..... KEEP ON SCOOTING.....😀
Tuning voids your warranty.
I think you live in my neighborhood lmao
Well... howdy, neighbor! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
The 2021 Accord Touring has wireless Android Auto..........
👍 --QM
