Here in Warren Michigan, I asked a priest if he could hear my confession.
He said I needed to make an appointment to which I agreed.
He didn't see me follow him into the church office to make that appointment and I heard him say to the secretary "I don't have time to listen to shit" then he turned around and saw me.
He didn't know what to say because I guess I took him by surprise, so he just walked into a back room and I left shocked in disbelief at what he said and somewhat heartbroken at the same time.

That's just sad. An encounter like that would lead me to wonder about 2 things:
      1. Why did this man choose to be a priest?
      2. Is he even Catholic at this point?
Sounds like a prime example of a "hireling."

I'd write a letter to his bishop and find another church. I wonder what church you attend. I was baptized at St. Clements church on Van Dyke in 1969. It is called something else now.

I remember recently you reported that the Pope was not allowing TLM trained seminary grads to be ordained, and they've been waiting 2 years.
The growth of TLM Mass attendance by youth is on the rise, so why is the Pope forbidding TLM in Parishes? The youth are a potential source of new clergy. It all seems intentional and counterproductive to a thriving Church.

In watching this video, I remember that one Sunday, the deacon preached a really good “Catholic” sermon. By “Catholic” I mean one that wasn’t concerned with political correctness. Needless to say, someone complained to the bishop and the pastor got a call from him to talk to the deacon. I truly believe that there are some “Catholics” who would complain to the bishop, if Jesus Himself were to preach to them and He said something that rubbed them the wrong way. Bishops are not doing anyone any favors by bowing down to the “god of political correctness”. All they are doing is censoring the truth, which is what the devil wants. There can be no true repentance on our part if we don’t know the truth about ourselves. Is there something about ourselves that needs to be addressed? When we stand before God for judgement, you can bet He will not be “politically correct”.

It is high time that bishops stop worrying about the coffers and start worrying about saving souls. Sadly, so many bishops cancel good priests simply for speaking the WORD OF GOD. These bishops would rather get the money CINOs give to the parishes than tell them the truth of God. Jesus will NOT judge the bishops by how financially wealthy the parish is but will want to know how many souls were saved by strong faithful priests who were allowed to properly tend his sheep. There's a reason why so many saints have had visions of many clergy lining the road to hell.

Not sure of the accuracy, but an Irish friend of mine has told me that the Dominicans had 17 seminarians last year in Ireland, all with an interest in their Traditional Dominican Rite. (about 20 diocesan in entire country) There is hope, Ireland and elsewhere, the future lies in tradition. Have hope and support traditional seminarians where you can.

Thank you, brother, another good show.
A church I attended in my youth has had the confessional removed in favour of a handicap washroom.
It's easy to see how important confession is when great saints like St. John Vianney and Padre Pio practically lived in one. Padre Pio is known to have said we should go to confession once a week even if nothing mortal has been done - after all, we dust a room once a week.
When you start skipping sacraments you are in great big trouble.
Feast of the Assumption of our Lady is tomorrow. Everyone, please go to the Mass if you can, and pray that our Blessed Mother raise up many holy priests.
Pray for the Church. Ave Maria.

Since the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been abandoned for the pro-testant “supper”, focused on man as the “center and king” of life on earth, the faith is dying. The only corrective that will work is a return to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Theology it proclaims.

As a german: Confession is almost dead, but there is nothing new about it. In the post-concilliar 70-80s many of the priest actually communicated that confession was abandondend and is not anymore necessary. Every convert or revert in current times is also rediscovering confession, thank be to god i live nearby a parish which offers daily mass and confession and regular adoration. But at this point you have to actively search for these parishes, otherwise you might end up with any imaginable sacrilege, like women preaching or lections from literally non bible books! (i`ve seen it all...)

You know, there was a time in the mid-20th Century, back when every parish had "the box," when not only Catholics went to the confessional, but a surprising number of non-Catholics went there. It was about the only place in mass society outside of the psychoanalyst's office where one could find somebody who would listen to the guilty and shameful things he or she keeps hidden from others.
Now, of course, we know that a confession shouldn't be treated like a therapy session. But the people off the street just wanted somebody who would listen to their fears and anxieties, and wasn't going to ask them to book an appointment or hand over some large fee. From what I understand, unless there was a huge line, the priests seldom kicked these people out. They couldn't give them a formal, sacramental absolution, of course. But they would hear what these people had to say, maybe give them some advice, sympathy, or reassurance, or maybe a prayer or a blessing before sending them on their way...hopefully better than when they came there.
The anonymous, walk-in confessional was probably one of the best public relations and evangelization tools the Church had. Because it brought in people at their most troubled seeking answers that the Church is well equipped to provide. I can't say how many bystanders snuck into a confessional one day, and eventually became full Roman Catholics in the fullness of time, but the number is not zero. But, even if these bystanders didn't become Catholics, they would at least have good feelings about the Church for making such a resource available to them.
If the Church these days is motivated by worldly pragmatism, then there are worldly and pragmatic reasons to make open, anonymous confession a priority.

Mr. Stine, as a comparison, in my early years, there would be many full pews, with many confessionals, for up to 3 hours at a time. Priests visited homes, hospitals and went to the factories, and industrial areas offering confessions. As you well know, this great apostasy was foretold, and now we're bearing the consequences. Thank you for speaking out, from Adelaide, Australia.

Listening to him talk I would have thought he had been formed in a traditional order. Unfortunately he said something during a legion of Mary meeting that one of the members didn't like so that person reported him to the local bishop and the bishop removed him from the position and subsequently because of that incident the FSSP denied his application. My guess that they did that because they don't want to rock the boat.

How true! At Knock Shrine recently at the end of Mass, a visiting priest read out a new, long drawn out and tedious prayer to Our Lady of Knock, in which the clergy most certainly had a hand. And towards the end of the prayer addressed to Our Lady were the words, "We the children of Vatican II...."
Doesn't that say something about the mindset of the clerical authors? Should we wonder that there is an apostasy when the clergy and their bishops are at least passively complicit?

Many Catholics are hanging on by a thread. Not being spiritually fed by the priests, milk toast homilies, refusing to talk about the sins of the Church while reminding the laity of their sins. It all seems so hypocritical. I feel betrayed and abandoned. Sadly, in my last parish, I was abandoned by a priest when I was in need of spiritual guidance and so was a friend of mine when she made an appointment for confession. The priest walked in and said he had a financial meeting and could only give my friend a few minutes. It sometimes feels like the hierarchy owns the Church, and we should do what they say and not as they do.

They don’t want to hear confessions because they don’t go to confession themselves because a lot of them are not in a state of grace due to their own habitual sins.

I attended a procession today with an outdoor mass, Having earlier attended the Latin Mass i was absolutely astounded at the casuality with which the Eucharist was being passed like sharing sweets. One of the priests must have been in a hurry to be somewhere else, as he joined the E G Ms in rushing to fill as many hands as possible in the shortest time. A few people recieved on the tongue from an older priest. I left thinking, "These poor people have no idea of the majesty of the Catholic faith". And I don't wonder why, The modern priests appear not to know or couldn't care less about the true faith. May God forgive me but thats my honest opinion . Ave Maria.🙌

It is the “springtime” in the church because people starved to death in the spring. All the winter reserves were used up and all the seeds saved were used for planting. The energy requirement to till and plant for the future harvest left the farmer weak and with no food, sickly and that’s when many deaths occurred. The strong survive!

Total collapse of attendence at Mass, and Confession almost nonexistent. Although I don't remember the exact number of church closings: Diocese of Detroit has gone from 500+ parishes down to approx. 200, and Diocese of Pittsburgh has gone from 300+ to approximately 100. Lack of parishioners means less money coupled with lack of priests. Lack of priests means they have more Masses and that takes priority to Confessions. Equally, most NO parishes I see that have confession have it for 30-45 minutes before Mass. How does a thousand parishoner parish attend a 30-45 minute confessional period?

Spot on so true - trouble is that the lethargy spreads like the description in CS Lewis' Screwtape Letters, where Screptape writes in his letter to Wormwood : the road to hell is wide and the walk is soft - you hardly notice you are on it! I think we who are not (yet)🎉taken in, we know, but we are practically anaestisized by the bland softness of the road to hell?

The vocation, the call to the priesthood, is service to the domestic church, the family, Christ's flock. The urgency to megalomaniacal, imperial administration of parochial infrastructure has become the primary formation of seminarians. The building is the church, the pastor is the landlord. What family would encourage their sons to join this elite, antisocial, sinwrangling comptroller union? The present ministerial priesthood is an enemy of the family. This needs to be openly confessed -- from the top (Bishop of Rome) down. Let the clerics confess, openly, and plead for forgiveness. Thanks, Anthony.

I have been to different parishes in my community for confession. A couple of years ago we would wait 2hrs to have our confession heard, and the line would wrap around the church into the foyer every 1st Friday of the month. Incredible! The priest would ask for help from other parish priests or retired priests. Now, after moving the priests around, the new priest put a time cap on 1st Friday confessions. So, when I know confessions are being heard and there start times, I show up 30-40mins early.

Where I live in the US the diocesan parishes each only have 1 priest and in half of those parishes the priests are foreigners. If it wasn't for an excess number of foreign priests, many of the parishes wouldn't have priests at all. However, there is a parish run by the FSSP in my area and it has three American priests. It's obvious what the problem is, young men don't want to be a priest and put themselves through dealing with these modernist bishops and laity nor do they want to perform the new mass. My brother want's to be a priest, but he said the only way he'll become a priest is if he can join a traditional order, which he is trying to do right now. He said there is no way he would ever be a diocesan priest, and I think he represents the attitude of most young men interested in the priesthood.

I am deeply grieved. I converted to Catholicism. I was born and raised Episcopal. That church went off the tracks a few decades ago. It is now stunningly secular. There is a break away conservative church that tries to follow the older ways. But in the early 1990's when I left, there was no such outfit near me.
I have seen the same things happening here. I guess the radicals follow similar game plans. This is not the Church I converted into in 1994.
I believe that gates of hell quote that is frequently banded about is misunderstood. I don't believe the Catholic church is standing. It has been conquered by wolves in sheep's clothing.
I also believe it would be a sin for me to support such a corrupted and decadent organization. God opened my eyes, and since I do understand, I would be sinning if I remained.
I don't know enough to use the word sedevacintism. I do see that overt changes began with Pope John XXIII. I will just call it the corruption of the faith. If you want to call me names, have at it. Frankly my dears, I don't give a d***.

Is it lack of leadership or …. Lack of faith? Do many clergy even believe that Christ is the Son of God? Do they believe in the real presence? Do they believe- or even know- the basic teachings of our Faith? Do they have ANY kind of deep spiritual life themselves?
