I’ve been scared to watch this and trying not to be terrified now that I did!! I don’t ever want to be presumptuous but I also don’t want to not be trusting in God’s mercy! There’s a fine line. Most precious blood of Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and the whole world 🌎 ❤🙏🏽

1st off I'm not criticizing you in a negative sense but giving you constructive criticism or food for thought "if you will" big difference.
I spent 18 years in the Infantry and one thing instilled into me was this. In order to defeat my enemy I need to know my enemy along with respecting his abilities to cause me harm.
The Devil is our enemy. And given FREE REIGN (key phrase there free reign) the least of the Demons could defeat the Army's of the world past present and future in nothing flat.
But the entirety of Hells Army's would be as helpless as a cockroach against the bottom of a little girls shoe with the Direct help of Christ and indirect help through Mother Mary and the rest of the Heavenly Angles and Saints.
It's important for us the faithful to learn about Satan and his Demons in how they attack us so we can be on gaurd against them along with learning the Heavenly weapons we have at our disposal to defeat them.
For with God as long as we have faith and trust in his power against evil the entirety of hell has absolutely no power against us. Again key phrase there faith and trust in God.
My parish is staffed by young, traditionally minded priests and I love the way they make no bones about sin from the pulpit. I do the rosary before Mass at a local nursing home on Thursdays. I had a serious plumbing issue on Saturday and couldn't get anyone here until Sunday morning and it took them so long that I couldn't make any service. So, I stepped in the sacristy while we was vesting (people do it All the time at church and they don't seem to mind) and told him I couldn't take Communion. He shut the door, heard a brief confession, granted me absolution, and I was able to take Communion. I absolutely loved him for that!
Wow. You are blessed to be in a parish like that with accommodating priests.

I died and came back to life in 2000. My experience was that there seemed to be heavenly realms. I sensed that I was in an outer realm which was so beautiful where I spoke with my Grandmother who told me I would be ok. This is a simplified version of my experience but just wanted to confirm that there is either what I called realms or levels like Fr Chris speaks of.

@@sandraelder1101 i've seen videos where people who are in lower heavens are sad about not seeing God...where the angels, elders and saints are is where it's happiest. we should aim for the highest place originally designated to us. we were created to take up spaces left by fallen angels-- the goal should be getting to those spots
@@michaelhaywood8262 you want to get to the highest part of heaven because it is for all eternity and the closer you are to Jesus on earth the more you will be rewarded in heaven. Just getting your foot in the door is good but the higher up the better. Supposedly the ones who just skim pass hell and make it in the side entrance of the pearly gates will not have a clearer view of Jesus as compared to those who maybe were martyred for Jesus.

I will have to discern if I should watch this or not because sometimes I have a tendency for scrupulosity. And I have been trying to get over this harmful negativity. My day wasn’t so great, as it was, I think I will give it at least 24 hours. Please pray that if I do decide to watch this that I don’t regress. I do love to learn from Fr. Chris because he is so faithful, however.
Praying for you. I watched it more than once. There’s a lot to unpack. So much so, I am having difficulty writing a coherent comment.
Always remember that the goodness we can produce is contingent on Christ. In us dwells nothing good, so it is by God's grace through our faith that we are able to do any act of charity. It's important to remember, because sometimes we try to reach something above us that we cannot reach, similar to a little child that isn't tall enough to reach the upper shelves. Do not worry. For the goodness God demands of us is not always tangible great deeds like building hospitals. There are some in heaven, whose name is greater in heaven than known saints, who have done nothing visible for others. Some people may be homeless and all they can do is bless walking passengers, but this secret thing done with a pure heart, is worth more for God than you can imagine. Also remember the poor widow in the gospel that gave so very little in comparison to others, but Jesus told her she did give more than any other person. Or another example is our blessed mother. From a human minded perspective she did nothing but raised a "mere child", but in God's perspective she was found to be blameless in her obedience, higher in virtue than any of us.
Rethink your scrupulosity rationally. You care for God and what is pleasing to him, or else you wouldn't worry about it, don't you? I'm not here to make you boast about yourself higher than you deserve, but you are probably "better off" than those who don't care about God and overindulge in worldly matters and sin. God is merciful and He is the one that makes us able to stand. Don't worry about your own weaknesses, but trust in God fully and you will stand up always, just like St. Peter stood upon water with Christ, which would be impossible by himself. Don't lose courage and doubt God's love. If prayer should become burdensome for you, then you are in doubt about God's love. If that happens, pray: "Dear God, I know you love me and I accept your love and because I accept your love, I am able to love". Never try to earn God's love, but be able to love by God's love, as it is the spring of our devotional life.

Thank you for making this subject clearer .....especially about presumption .....we all rely too much on God's mercy when we continue to sin
I am not presumptuous, I know that I choose Heaven or Hell based on my choices. I sin, and I rely heavily on His Mercy. I rely on His mercy to grant me the graces to fight off sin, because I cannot do it alone. The worse I sin, the harder I rely on His mercy, it’s the only choice I have, because I am 100% unable to fight off any sin on my own, I need His graces. Honestly, I do not think there is such thing as relying on His mercy too much. His mercy is unfathomable and unending.
But I think I got the point you were getting it, when people take advantage of His endless mercy and don’t really try, basically being lukewarm. I think this is what you were getting at. I try super hard to not sin (I’m talking both venial and mortal) and I fail and I rely so much on His mercy. And I also know when I fall into mortal sin, to not despair, get my butt to confession ASAP, and truly do everything I can (with God’s grace) to not commit mortal sin again.
actually my local priest says many do the same sins over and over because they rely on God's mercy too much...he hears a lot of confessioms...maybe you do not ...but many have a high degree of presumption @@seanmcelroy9774

Sin is the only thing that keeps us from the love of God! The confessionals should have long lines outside them. We have forgotten about the never endings tortures of hell, the suffocating darkness and terror. Pray for our priests too who need so much support. In Catholic primary schools in do not talk about Hell, the devil, mortal versus venial sins.What is a holy day of obligation. No wonder my children in their 30s have no idea on faith and Cathecism ( don't teach) Shocking! They say dont want to frighten the kids or irm their parents away from school.Parents they say are spiritual not religious. I am 67 went to Primary 60s.We were not afraid with the teaching. Otherwise I would have been more ignorant. This is a destruction of our church fro. Within.

Thank you. REST, CONSOLATION and HOPE Sound positively beautiful to me. It’s really inline with the benefits of knowing, when we have effectively discerned the Will of God in our lives. When we have made the right decision, we experience peace, love and joy (“How to discern the Will of God” {Fr Chris 4/22/23}). Our earthly existence is so arduous in many ways, yet if we surrender, it really simplifies it. God bless you.

Blessed Mary of Agreda said it was revealed to her that The Blessed Mother is the only one who will have the complete Beatific Vision, who will see God in all His essence. I am so so thankful to our Eternal Father for that. She suffered and gave so much for Him, and therefore, for us that I celebrate her being given such amazing gifts. Of course, it makes perfect sense. We are all going to be united to God, to become one with Him. Some are now, on earth, those who love God so much they refuse Him nothing, though not as perfectly as our Mother. So, she is the only one who will be one with Him as perfectly as God intended because only she loved Him perfectly. Praise God!!!
St. Teresa of Lisieux was taught about the thimble by her sister, who was teaching her the Catechism. It's a beautiful analogy.

I just read Dante's work at the end of last year. I found it very realistic. Thank you for the speach, dear Father Chris!
While Dante's work is illustrative of the reality of differing degrees of heaven and hell, it is important to always remember that Dante's work is not to be taken as the truth taught by the Church, nor does Dante have the right to presume who is or is not in hell. The Divine Comedy is not a church document, nor has it ever been granted an imprimatur by any Catholic Bishop. Fr Chris was merely using Dante's work as a tool to help explain how some people have explained the concept in the past.
You probably already knew this, but this message is more aimed at anyone who wasn't paying attention when Fr Chris said that Dante's work is not church teaching before he started referencing it in the talk. Usually he is more clear about points like this (when he starts referencing non-Church teachings), but I think I only heard him say it the once, so it does bear repeating. Heaven knows that at least one person is going to jump on him for referencing Dante at all.

I mean this in the nicest way. I believe in god and love Jesus …I feel like sometimes it’s so hard to deal with people and while I don’t want to become angry with people, sometimes people bother me especially working with the public. I know I’m far from perfect and I continue to repent and ask forgiveness along with try to do the right thing. I look back at things I’ve done and I’m ashamed, I always loved god but I didn’t know jesus like I am getting to know him more and more now.
Patience is a tough one isn’t it? Recently, I read a suggestion that rather than becoming annoyed by others, prayer for them. I used the example f the people who are noisy before Mass begins. Yesterday, rather than stewing about them, I prayed for them to be enlightened about proper behavior. They weren’t quiet, but I wasn’t annoyed. Try it.
