because of the weapons weight mitigating recoil the .357 version is actually nice to shoot. the recoil is kinda like a 9mm but still has that .375 snap. still a huge pistol, but fun at the range. if you're in the right american state you can open carry these things :P
I have a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle and it definitely has some practical advantages. Despite the common lore that it's high recoil, the Desert Eagle softens recoil, it has much less recoil than a .44 mag revolver and feels like shooting a .45. Also it is very accurate compared to other pistols because of its fixed barrel, I have shot clovers (tight groups) at just under 25 yards and can reasonably hit targets at 100 yards which is much harder with other handguns. It also reloads extremely fast because the mags are easy to grab and because of the flared magwell. Another advantage is that barrel changes and disassembly are stupid easy which makes it very modular. I have a 14 inch barrel for mine (only was made for the Mark I and Mark VII) and I can swap to that from my 6 inch barrel in seconds. The big disadvantage is that the Desert Eagle can wear springs very fast, as I shot over 2000 rounds through mine because I reload. The gun is very reliable with proper maintenance and ammunition, reloading allowed me to get a well tuned load that hasn't jammed yet.
The Desert Eagle can be used in a fight if you have nothing else, but it's like the muscle truck of pistols. It's serious overkill when you don't need more than a .45 ACP. 9mm is the most practical defensive caliber.
Agreed. Its also worth noting that if you shoot one of these in a house, without ear protection, you will likely perforate both ear drums on the first shot. Ive seen someone do that on a shooting range with a 357.
If memory serves me well, the Desert Eagle came out in 1990 and it also came with differences: It had a range of ammunition, ranging from .357 Magnum, the .44 Magnum and the .50 Cal. It also had a range of barrel lengths, from the shorter I believe 6" to the 8" and to the 10"? I knew a guy back then and when I said this to him, he said the 10" .50 cal would be great for deerhunting. It IS iconic, and I suspect that it could be a reasonable asubstitute for the not so great S & W AutoMag which did have issues, I think with the loads and ammunition. I could be wrong of course, as weapony isn't my strong point. I believe the DE also came in a few different colors as well such as blued, and metallic silver? There may well be other calibres and barrellengths out there, such as possible .22 etc. You may also get one that is pure decoration with black and gold decorations.
Despite its critics, the Desert Eagle is the perfect gun for every day carry. ... if you have been teleported to a planet full of nine feet tall space aliens covered in protective bony plates....
I remember reading a G&A article back 1998. The artilcle claimed the Desert Eagle was designed for Mossad and other Israeli specalised or intel agencies who wanted pistol that could penertate through concrete brick earth filled walls etc a target would be hiding behind.
Ported .44 has less slap than a .357. Even shooting +P through the ported .44 just had less palm sting than a standard .357. Having that larger frame really factors.
@@fakshen1973 mine wasn’t ported this was the old 9 inch barrel variant. Still slapped less than a .357 revolver. Sold it eventually, but it was a good gun for deer and feral hogs.
Hearing protection is recommended when shooting ANY gun. Desert Eagles are cool, and you're right. They're not at all practical for much of anything other than fun, or hunting. One thing you didn't mention is how notoriously unreliable they are due to their poor magazine design. It's almost guaranteed that you'll get at least 1 FTF malfunction every 21 rounds or so. What you were saying about .50 AE being more powerful than 7.62x39mm (AK ammo).... You might want to do a little more research there, because that's really not true at all. .50 AE typically clocks about 1250 to 1475 FPS depending on the ammo, and can produce up to a whopping 1800 FT LBS of energy. That's definitely some serious punch. 7.62x39mm can clock up to 2421 FPS depending on the ammo, and produce about 1000 FT LBS of energy (the important part here) AT DISTANCES UP TO 100 YARDS. Here's why the statement about Desert Eagles being more powerful than an AK is wrong. The ballistic drop off for .50AE is going to be astronomically higher than it is for 7.62x39mm. Those numbers FPS=Feet Per Second AKA Velocity/FT LBS=Foot Pounds of energy AKA Joules start to get smaller the further the projectile travels through the air. There are really only 3 factors that are going to determine the length of time that the projectile can maintain optimal terminal ballistics. Those are going to be the length of the barrel, the strength of the powder load, and the aerodynamic shape of the projectile. It doesn't take a genius to know which gun wins in all 3 of those categories. It's the AK. .50 AE produces some pretty impressive numbers for a handgun cartridge, but outside of 50 yards you're lucky if you'll land any hits with any consistency (being generous here because 50 to 100 yards with a handgun that's a lot easier to shoot is pretty damn good shooting). Plus the further it travels the slower it gets, and the slower it gets the less lethal it becomes. Sure, maybe it's got more going for it in kinetic energy at CQB distances, but honestly that's a completely irrelevant moot point. Why? because 7.62x39mm is literally just as lethal at those distances to much further out, and is fired from a platform that is easier to handle, easier to make accurate shots with, and is far and away more reliable than a Desert Eagle is. So, no. A Desert Eagle is not "more powerful" than an AK. Not by a long shot......... See what I did there?
The Desert eagle is a useless overpowered gun, a headshot with a .22 lr will kill you or incapacitate you. The reason that some buy it is that they want to shoot the biggest gun, and let's face it , it's a luxury to buy one, buy ammo. Ammo alone is over $2.00 per shot and the gun is $1300 and up, mostly up a lot. Would I buy one if money was no object? Yes , and a Lamborghini too, but need, no I don't need either of them.
What a lot of people misunderstand, is that it was a gun created for the sole purpose, of just testing new shit. Like the PP Bizon, HK G11, AA12, ect ect, it was made to fill a niche, but it was never really intended to be super practical. Like there's no real practical use for a Deagle. It barely has anymore capacity than a high power revolver, the reload speed is negligible because you can just use speed loaders, the recoil is awful because the slide has to cycle, and it costs way more to get and maintain compared to a revolver. It's a cool gun, it just doesn't do anything a revolver can't do so it's just incredibly impractical for even the role it's supposed to fill
Better check your facts numbers there! The 7.62x39mm AK round is only slightly more powerful in terms of muzzle energy than the 5.56x45mm M-16 round. But yes, the Deagle .50 AE round is roughly as powerful as an AK round, not twice as powerful as either rifle round.
I am a large guy, my son isn't, but make no mistake we can both conceal my Eagle. I got it to hunt with, but I have used it for a conceal carry handgun.
I would like to see you or someone do a video on the Ruger Blackhawk. Chambered in.30 carbine. I own one. I love it but most people don't like it because it's not the.44 magnum or .357 magnum.
Honestly this is a cool gun but shouldn't be used for self defense for another reason. That's over penetration. Great as a bear gun though. There are stories of people taking down bears with a 9mm, but it sometimes takes an entire magazine because the bullets don't penetrate enough. Penetration is an important factor.
I just got a 50 bushwacker that's a double dessert eagle! 5 shot revolver why because it was on sale for 1300 ! Came with a scope and 40 rounds couldn't pass that up! I made a leather holster for it and now it's my concealed carry. I also have a pocket pistol I can get to faster! I've already been offered 2300 for the gun!
The Deagle is so exaggerated and oversized for a Pistol, that it would make a lot more Sense to just make it a Carbine right away. (It's using the System and the Bullet Size of heavy semi auto rifles already anyways, so what the hell. Make it a Carbine.)
A little constructive feedback for you: This will be the last video of yours I ever watch, because it has the same flaw as all the others I started to watch but didn't finish: Four minutes in, and you haven't even _begun_ to address the topic in the title. Bye.
I dont see who would carry such a lump of iron really. This gun is only a fashion accessory. Unconcealable and too heavy to carry in a holster, with plenty of other guns that can do the job.
It's a novelty like the Wildey. Not very practical. Something like a 10mm Glock 20 or Glock 40 is much more practical. An ounce of gold could buy you one plus a couple boxes of ammunition.
It's useless, Just a "hold my beer i'm gonna build this Crazy thing" gun, that's It. It works like shit, It's complicated, has many small parts prone to breaking and Easy to loose. It's made purely for recreational shooting, but no use other than that.
There seems to be way too many videos on RUclips showing way too many malfunctions with the Desert Eagle. Enough of a reliability problem that most people wouldn't want to bet their lives on this handgun!
If you run out of ammo,
you can always beat the person with it.
Did Colt Post this?
you could just get the FK Brno Field Pistol which is also fully steel and big but has 16 shots and can at least penetrate level 3 body armor
because of the weapons weight mitigating recoil the .357 version is actually nice to shoot. the recoil is kinda like a 9mm but still has that .375 snap.

For what it's worth this would be great to take to Antarctica.
Let’s gooo🔥🔥🔥💪🏼💪🏼 Thanks for the content 👌🏼 I've heard that voice somewhere before😁😁😁
It serves the same purpose as any other gun. There’s a lot of guns on the market that don’t make a ton of sense to me. But people buy em like crazy.

I shot a desert eagle. 50AE one handed. It felt like a 1911 .45. A .44mag revolver has more felt recoil.

I had a .44 mag DE long barrel back in the 90s. Used it for deer.

I'd love to see a video about the Colt Python and the Smith & Wesson model 27, both chambered for .357 Magnum
357. Is just a a fany 38. Special

Check your numbers Chad
But you see not many people aim for the head.
If you want a special yet lethal handgun buy a FN Five-seveN

I would love to see a video on the Walther PPK, or S&W Model 29!
nobody have ever bought a desert eagle because they think its a good gun.
they buy it becase its a really fucking cool gun.
Its basically a novelty item
Since it's made for hunting I wonder if anybody has ever killed an eagle with a Desert Eagle
Wrong kinetic energy. It is roughly the same as AK-47 round. It is twice as much as M-16 round.

Make a video about the Mac-10 and 11, G36, S&W 500mag and colt python please
Only way i'm using this, is if it has a 10 inch barrel, double-stack magazine, and full auto.
Well just think at this like bye my wrist and hello magnum.50 ae

The Xp-100 beats the Desert Eagle .50. Of course it is firing a full up rifle cartrage, and it's single shot.
Beretta 92 FS!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Big gun for a small man 😊
