Thank your for the video! I'll have those in mind when learning with my online teachers. What about a video about how to introduce yourself and your goals for language learning? It could be useful to break the ice when finding a new teacher.
Even though I consider myself an upper-intermediate/advanced level (I speak Brazilian Portuguese ) I have found this lesson quite useful, European Portuguese is so beautiful.
I definitely need a video on more formal telephone language and dealing with issues when talking to a stranger - so YES! My stomach turns when I get an unknown Portuguese number calling me as I really struggle to know what the call is about. The other day I went into the dentist to make an appointment. The receptionist said you know you can call to make an appointment. I had to explain that I prefer to speak face to face as I cannot always understand on the phone - but at least I managed that conversation completely in Portuguese. Would you believe though, the day before the appointment, the receptionist called to rearrange the appointment. She was lovely though. She obviously remembered what I said about speaking Portuguese on the phone and spoke clearly (with a ton of patience) and we managed to agree a new appointment. Small successes make up for all the monumental defeats! By the way if you have any tips to politely (or perhaps not so politely) end a sales call, please share!!!!
It's incredible the pronunciation of "te" and "me" in European Portuguese. Without reading it I would never hear them saying them. I've got some way to go coming from learning Brazilian Portuguese 😅
Really like your videos and instructions! Very useful! Thanks for being here and doing this with so much enthusiasm! There's one thing I have a hard time with though,. It's not you, so many use music behind speech these days, like here, but it makes it harder to hear clearly and for me personally also much harder to concentrate.
Thank you. The fifteen Portuguese phrases in connection with the usage while talking to someone on the phone are useful and practical. Thanks a million. God bless you. 👌👌🙏🎶
Ola Liz, I've just begun your classes online and appreciate your guidance very much. It would be helpful if you would walk us through the steps of what happens when we get to the Faro airport with our D-7 visas upon entering Portugal as residents for the first time. I will have my dog and cat with me traveling from Hawaii and I hope to make the transition into Portugal as swift and smooth as possible as I expect we will all be quite tired from our long journey. Obrigada ♥
Hi, so exciting! I have survival phrases on my channel for your first few days, but I also highly recommend signing up for my free 60-minute lesson “Speak Portuguese like a Pro”, it’s a quick start guide for total beginners covering pronunciation, real-life Portuguese & essential grammar! You can sign up for it here: www.talkthestreets.com/speak-portuguese-like-a-pro - let me know what you think!
If I may, careful with "provar" it's incorrect here. Provar can either mean to prove, for example, someone's innocence or to taste. What you may want to use here is experimentar...vou experimentar. Or you can use a form of provar in a fixed expression, which means to put to the test..."vou por à prova". I believe this is correct 😊
These are such helpful hints and I wish I had watched this video before my class that I had yesterday. No worries because I am sure I will be more prepared for the next time. Muito obrigado !
Interesting tid bit about the pronoun moving ahead of the verb when we use 'não'. So the correct way to say would be 'não me culpa' instead of 'não culpa-me'?
Can you do 100 questions with the answer yes or no. Ie: I spoke to a maid in my hotel in 🇵🇹 i needed something. Break it into 10 questions..I'm slow. preciso de um rolo de papel higiênico.

When the sentence is on the negative or with the word "que" and a few others that I can't remenber, it's before the verb
By the way It's
Não me culpes (informal)
Não me culpe (formal)
