Michael Burnham's "seemingly impossible depth of human compassion" is outmatched by the number of people whom she has personally killed, and by her lack of feeling for the millions of creatures whom she has killed indirectly.
Her big speech at the end of Season 1 is a howl of hypocritical statements by her and by the writers.
Old trek showed you what a character was like, and perhaps later someone would comment on it. Like Kirk saying that of all the souls he had encountered in his travels, Spock's was the most human. That line was EARNED, and everyone knew what Kirk meant. In STD, the writers try to tell you what a character is like, often despite all evidence to the contrary, and they shove it constantly down your throat.
Sarek expressed love for his human wife. I would say he didn't express his love for Spock, because of his Vulcan half. Regardless of Mikey Burnham's perfection.
Good writers create relatable characters that audiences grow to love naturally. Hack writers just tell us that we should love their unlikable characters over and over again.
They can't fight because they are also the best at friendship. If they met all the universes in all dimensions and in-between would enter an endless age of peace and joy. I'm sure to us it would look more like the end of evangelion though, but hey, everyone would be united!

Holy sh*t!!! This is like a egomaniac’s wet dream come to life!!! Just a minute or so of these clips and it already makes me want to bash my head into a wall non-stop. For the sake of my health, I’ll definitely distance myself from anything Discovery related.
Its obvious that the showrunners behind Discovery wanted to present this awesome all seeing all doing black female action hero without realising that having all the awesomeness being focussed on one character at the expense of the rest of the crew is literally about as far away from Star Trek as you can get. It has become beyond a joke.
A hyper intelligent and physically superior woman who ruthlessly murders men and gets away with it, being admired for he outstanding moral compass and boundless level of compassion, and to top it all off, she has a male name... This character's is the deluded feminist's ultimate power fantasy.
Yeah, that and let's not forget that Star Trek Discovery is also STD for short... We're seeing a lot of "inside jokes" when it comes to this show. Talk about a discovery in itself! Hmm? ;) I sometimes wonder if these inside jokes are more mocks towards the fans, than anything...?

The entire series is a fanfic written by Michael Burnham. Burnham is an overweight femcel working as a paper stapler in Starfleet regional depot #224H.
This isn't so much preferential treatment/plot armour as character worship. I mean, stop trying to put all the positive attributes that would be with several characters (with flaws) onto one. It's like the OP game hero character.

Michael Burnham was born to two scientists and became the foster child of a Vulcan Ambassador of a Noble House. She was constantly an overachiever because she didn’t have a choice in a society that saw humans as inferior and lived in a household that demanded hard work. Everyone on the Discovery are hard workers who earn their positions through humility, curiosity, and perseverance. Those characteristics didn’t create Starfleet principles. Those characteristics are byproducts of the principles. I love Burnham’s speech because it came from a place of having fallen short of Starfleet ideals and a renewed commitment to keep trying to live up to them. Living a principled life is a challenge, but it’s a gift that opens our individual potential. I can see us exploring space and terraforming dead planets. It’s happening now by a bunch of people who live by certain principles and a lot of humility. I find that … fascinating. :D
Taking one of the most powerful figures in Star Trek and turning him into the weak brother of the galaxy savior is the unbelievable part. Kind of a huge hole in continuity that neither Spock nor Sarek ever mentioned her in either the original or Kelvin timelines. Oh, and a nonVulcan being more powerful in Vulcan ways than any Vulcan is truly laughable, as it is their unique biology and evolution that gives them abilities like mnd-meld

It's like they were never taught the most basic of all writing principles, "show, don't tell".
Why does Michael Burnham have this continuous look on her face as though she's trying to silently let out a fart?
She's faster, stronger, and smarter than Spock and Data combined. She's also nobler than TNG era Picard, and a better combat commander than Sisko.
