      Indeed, she would have made more logical choices. Also, she wouldn't have fell in love so fast with her boyfriend. They fell in love way to fast, in just 2 episodes they were already a thing. If she was raised as a Vulcan, that would not have happened. The writing is way off in the tv show.

    • @saragolightly
      @saragolightly 3 года назад +8

      I think your reasoning makes sense. However, it's possible that Michael at times acts "extra human" because she didn't learn how to control our human emotions with other humans. Vulcan couldn't teach her that - so she learned to keep up the act that she has pushed them down to a Vulcan level. In reality, her emotional growth was stunted, so as soon as she emerged from that society, she was a bit like an adult IQ wise but a teenager psychologically. Just my theory.

  • @ChadeGB

    For me this is the main thing I hate about Discovery. Star Trek has always had an ensemble cast, it was never focused on a single person, everyone had their talents and weaknesses, everyone needed help sometimes and was shown to be fallible or flawed in some way. Each character had their time in the spotlight, you learned everything about them, and grew to love them or hate them, but for the right reasons.
    This just isn't the case with Discovery and Burnham. I've never met a more unlikeable, egocentric, toxic character. Which is ironic really.

    • @st.6413
      @st.6413 4 года назад +20

      @@ShamrockParticle Even in the original series, it was the famous trio. Kirk Spock and Bones. Kirk is most important because he’s the captain, but Spock was arguably as important and present as a Kirk. Many people’s favorite character was Spock and for good reason. McCoy was also always present and served a good friend to Kirk and foil to Spock. Man Trap and City on the Edge of Forever stand out as great McCoy episodes. Scotty, Sulu, and Uhura had their own moments, episodes, and arcs, and even Chekov got some love in Spectre of the Gun. Kirk gets about as much focus overall as Sisko in DS9. Proportionally speaking. He is the most important character, but not the only character of importance. Picard, Janeway and other Starfleet captains often get more screentime and dedicated episodes because ether are top of the food chain. It’s their decisions that dictate the ships survival. But they were always surrounded by a large cast of important characters who had a role to serve, functionally or character wise.

Mikey Spock finally grows a moral backbone just in time to end the war she started.

They would have let her be her own character backstory if they were willing to accept less revenue.

    But let me tell you: Star Trek Discovery is shit.
    And Michael Burnkam is a ridiculous character.
    Absolutely ridiculous.
    I have stopped watching this crap after season 1.

    So glad this horrible series is over. It should have been called The Michael Burnham Show. Aside from some great sci-fi visuals and space battles, it was a terrible show. The only good thing to come out of this was Strange New Worlds. That show is 100 times more Star Trek than this was.

    Star Trek Discovery is all kinds of awful. The actress that plays Michael Burnham is obviously a bright light with some major star quality, and Discovery will clearly serve as a launching pad for her. Jason Isaacs and Doug Jones also impress. That said, the show itself is so egregiously awful. I've just tried my best to watch seasons 1 and 2 out of some misplaced sense of loyalty to the franchise. I couldn't make it through. It's just too radical a departure, and most assuredly not for the better.

    I asked Yeschat: How would a girl who grew up on Vulcan since she was 9 and heard her parents die behave? Star Trek
    That's the answer:
    To explore this intriguing scenario, let's consider how a human girl raised on Vulcan from age 9, after experiencing the trauma of hearing her parents die, might behave:
    Emotional control: She would likely exhibit a high degree of emotional control, having been immersed in Vulcan culture during her formative years. However, her control might not be as perfect as native Vulcans due to her human biology and early childhood on Earth.
    Trauma response: The loss of her parents would be a significant factor in her development. She might struggle with suppressing emotions related to this trauma more than other aspects of her life.
    Logical thinking: She would likely approach problems and decisions with a strong emphasis on logic, having been educated in the Vulcan way.
    Cultural identity: There could be an internal conflict between her human heritage and Vulcan upbringing, potentially leading to identity issues.
    Social interactions: She might find it challenging to relate to other humans, especially in emotional situations. Her behavior could come across as overly formal or detached.
    Vulcan philosophy: She would likely adhere to many Vulcan philosophical principles, such as IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) and the pursuit of knowledge.
    Physical adaptations: Living on Vulcan, with its higher gravity and different atmosphere, would have physical effects on her development.
    Language and communication: She would be fluent in Vulcan and might use more precise, literal language even when speaking other languages.
    Coping mechanisms: She might have developed unique coping mechanisms to deal with her trauma and the challenges of adapting to Vulcan society.
    Career interests: Given Vulcan's focus on science and logic, she might be drawn to scientific or analytical fields.
    This character would be a complex individual, balancing human emotions and experiences with Vulcan logic and cultural norms. Her behavior would likely be a unique blend of these influences, potentially creating interesting conflicts and growth opportunities in a narrative context.
    You can do with that information what you want. (LLAP🖖🏻)

    Hahahahahahahahahahaha LITERALLY "ME...ME...ME." the perfect narrative for the millennial generation and younger LOL this is the greatest set of Clips I may have ever seen on TV I thought Brie Larson was bad but this is absolutely fantastic thank you for posting this. The only thing I can think that might be worse is Batwokeman. #Are YOU as #BATWOKE as #Batwokeman? 😆 but she has a man's name and she is also the Perfect Blend of alien species and the Perfect Blend of male and female the perfect androgynous nothing no personality just great at everything. Oh you got a jammed toilet? Michael Burnham has used two different worlds toilets and she does it better than you... move aside mere MORTAL. mere...Man. how dare you be mail and earned your role above me in status. I am a female Vulcan and the Chinese woman who can't even speak English properly is giving me an accommodation to take over a position that would essentially put me over even herself...but whoopsy what do you know the highest paid actor gets written off the show lol IN THE 1ST LIKE 3 episodes. I cannot believe people paid more money than usual on cable to get this CBS all access b******* I absolutely cannot believe it I've been watching reviews and I truly could not be paid money to sit and watch this I would think that would pretty much be torture to have to sit and watch this all day as a thinking adult with a college degree from major university. But what does education matter Michael Burnham read that in the script she can do everything and she's better at it than anyone you know in either culture Vulcan or mere earth males. Almost as much as Rey is suddenly now "all jedi's" LOL and I ain't even see that MOVIE HAHAHAHAH SRRY 4 SPOILERS BUT ITS TRASH but thank you so much this was a very good laugh

    They should have just made her a regular Vulcan (with no relation to Spock), named her M'Kel. Most of the show's problems would have been solved. It would have just been like "logical Vulcan shows humans how it's done" and no one would have consider her a Mary Sue, because Vulcan ARE shown to be much stronger and smarter than Humans in Star Trek. And people EXPECT them to be dull, dry, boring and unlikeable, yet still hyper-competent
