I wondered initially why they aren’t calling for more Starfleet ships, but then I remembered that the Federation is still recovering from the devastating war with the Klingons. There are a lot more ships in SNW
Ya know, as much as i like the battle like in DS9 and so on, this is truly something i wanted to see. With the Naval command structure Starfleet has is is shocking it took until Discovery for a space battle to be depicted like this. Where the big federation ships act as carriers for smaller craft like real aircraft carriers.
If you can stomach older games, you should play Starfleet Command I and II as they have various ship classes including Carrier Variants of all major ship types (Constitution, Miranda, Excelsior, etc...).
This is a good example of how federation fire power and technology would be against a single race. Starfleet realistically would be a beast with so much alien technology all combined into 1 ship
I rather like the design of the Discovery era Enterprise and can almost believe she went through a refit between now and when we see her in Menagerie Part 1 when we are first introduced to Captain Pike. Also rather like that the sound effects for the Enterprise phasers were consistent with the Original Series. That is also one way for to the Klingons to make an entrance, almost beats the entrance in Sacrifice of Angels, with them decloaking with the Bajor star systems star behind them.
This takes place after the flashbacks in The Menagerie. There's an earlier Discovery episode that has a "previously on Star Trek" montage showing that episode, and ignoring any of the actor changes and 50 year differences in production values and special effects - you're just supposed to suspend disbelief and pretend it's the same.
Since Disco is the main target, they dont wanna go full aggro which is Why Saru said EVASIVE pattern Delta 5. And since our big girl Enterprise is like the sheild, she goes aggro which is why Pike ordered "All power to foward sheilds fire full spread" That line gives me chills

At first I thought everyone’s shields were lasting too long but the initial thrust was just drone fighters while the starships hung back. Then the Klingons came in right after the enemy charged into effective range. So it kind of makes sense that they only really began to falter around the halfway mark
haha combine that with the weapons of the Discovery era connie and u have for quite a fight along with the weapons of these klingon ships such as the Klingon Cleave ship and the Discovery era D7 xD HAH
Perhaps the Way of the Warrior, Sacrifice of Angels, Tears of the Prophets, First Contact, or even Nemesis space battles? These had a lot going on, carried a sense of motion, impact, but never became random chaos. I understand the desire to portray battle as random and chaotic, but when every engagement is shot this way, you lose the impact and simply numb the viewer.
AI1: OK, we got them surrounded. Open fire from all sides and tear their defense down! AI2: Or..or...bear with me now. Sacrifice 2-3 ships and ram those warm-blooded mammals, cripple their ship in one swoop? Picard Maneuver, you know?
It gets hate because the hate is earned. This battle was just one of the high points. Also, Captain Pike was an asset to the series in season 2. His character was a bright spot in the show. Still, after 3 seasons, I still don't know the names of the bridge crew of the Discovery. It's the Star Trek "Michael Burn him."
They earned it. This show is terrible. Star trek doesnt even have absurd standards. We will let a bunch go. This is just not good. And its being propped up in DEEP denial, so that makes it an matter of principle on our part.
Because no matter what is produced people are going to hate. Nothing new for Trek. I've really enjoyed the show, S2 & 3 especially. Don't worry though, there are plenty who love the show and its doing well. I'm looking forward to season 4.

Given that construction on the first D7s is only JUST finishing around start of Discovery season 2, this battle was probably the first time the Federation got to see the D7 in-person. Knowing what we know about how formidable the D7 was, having that many of them turn up here wasn't just a very cool shot but it's also really really clever geopolitics by L'Rell. She's showing the UFP that the Empire is still willing and able to defend itself with powerful new warships BUT they're willing to put old grudges aside when there's a bigger threat; that an alliance between the UFP and Klingon Empire IS theoretically possible. She's asserting Klingon independence while also hinting that she's not totally against the idea of working with the Federation in the future. It's still a long way off but L'Rell set the groundwork for what eventually happens in Undiscovered Country
Canonically, there have only been 2 female chancellors: L’Rell and Azetbur. I’m not positive, but I believe Azetbur’s successor chanced laws to make it illegal for women to be chancellors again. It might also explain why a woman leading a house is an extreme case in DS9 but was common enough in DIS

Gotta love the plot armor as well.....discovery depleted their shield so fast in the episdode where they rescued a colony from raider....but in this episode....it literally has minimal damage taking fire from military grade ship......

That was on the most insane - and I don't mean in a good way - space battles I've ever seen. It's a mess, and you can barely tell where anything is coming from. Then there are those irritating sounds of their weapons, like someone spitting. It's the worst.

I enjoyed this except with that many ships fighting against each other there was no real focus on the story. The CGI here is very good but it's overkill. One ship against maybe 2 or 3 others, but not hundreds of ships shooting every which way. Perhaps because in the second decade of the 21st most viewers do not have the attention span to follow a real story from beginning to end so in place of that we now have endless numbers of CGI action at every corner of the screen. If Star Trek: TOS was like this I wouldn't have watched it very long at all.
The D-7's dropping out of warp then start attacking can cause A Big Johnson to Happen If there had been spoilers in this video it would not bother me .

Well the main reason was their coms were being blocked by control so they could not send for backup
There was also subspace Jamming from the section 31 fleet, so no backup was coming. This you can call the Starfleet civil war

I enjoyed this except with that many ships fighting against each other there was no real focus on the story. The CGI here is very good but it's overkill. One ship against maybe 2 or 3 others, but not hundreds of ships shooting every which way. Perhaps because in the second decade of the 21st most viewers do not have the attention span to follow a real story from beginning to end so in place of that we now have endless numbers of CGI action at every corner of the screen. If Star Trek: TOS was like this I wouldn't have watched it very long at all.
If you watched the episode there was a lot more stuff, it was edited out for this video.

This battle sequence was just lame. The fight with the Gagarin was great - I don’t know why they changed the formula.
