If I were you Mell I’d be covering that windscreen with a safety film or whatever you’ve got until your ready to drive away, just in case! Fit a light bar along the front unistrut to keep a low profile and less to get hit sticking up by tree branches

If you want the paint to stay on aluminium, you should use an etching primer first. You should also key the surface by rubbing down with 400 w & d.
I might've been tempted to fit the rear view facing cameras to the front door rear view mirror brackets they look very sturdy and an ideal mounting point to face rearwards.
You may not be aware that you can buy stuffing glands with multiple holes, so if you have 2 or more cables you can put them in each hole and when you tighten the stuffing gland it closes up on each cable providing a much better seal.

school boy error lol you clean the alley with panel wipe to get rid of grease etc etc but as you wipe it you then handle it with your bare hands leaving the grease from your skin back on the alley lol , great vids keep up the good work Mel

Yet another great job Mel, i order a few bits of ally express but they never turned up ( lucky it was via PayPal ). Love the the camera system i didn't use a Bluetooth one as i was worried about the length of the van and it not reaching so when old school and ran wires from one end to the other. Also fitted 4 spot lights on the roof rack and what a different they make on dark roads or campsites. Almost turn it from night to day. as well as looking so cool. Would love to bump into you and Becky one day as you both seem so full of energy and joy. Keep up the good work

I am learning so much from these vlogs. If you are planning on watching camera when in bed etc, does that mean that they stay on and transmitting when vehicle is all switched off? How do you isolate them when van is laid up?

I guess a little extension pole with a sponge would come in handy but yes, the front facing camera behind the front windscreen would definitely give better protection Del.

Camera system is similar to the one on my lorry...if you look at the camera there should be a white dot...this needs to be at the top for correct image...hope this helps Mel...cheers

Wow what a nice system. I've got a tiny camper so I might go for the Apple CarPlay system with the rear wireless cam and dash cam! It's also only $460 instead of almost $800 😄 ... I'm looking forward to your fridge conversion also, even though it is too late since I paid almost $400 for a 12 volt drawer fridge that will only hold 6 cans of beer! 🍺

Great video. And great product as well. But it seems like you didn't manage to change the orientation of how the images are displayed on the monitor from the side cameras. So, considering this flaw, I would rate this product 7 out of 10 instead of 9 out 10.

I didn’t know I could use a flange like that on the roof instead of those big ones? The fridge looks like mine. Mines 12v but can be used as 240v too :) but mine was £600. Good price for yours 😊

Was u able to rotate the camera on the side ? In the software or feature? Or will u have to rotate the viewing screen each time ? Sure there probably features with in the manual somewhere ?
Hey Mel really interesting video. On a side issue are you pleased with the windows? We've got them and they flop about when you have them open just a bit
Get your screen and window tinted . Helps here in India to tint windows
The side camera IR might reflect off the curve of the roof, night pic will bleach out. trial n error position before fixing to check the IR spread pattern. YW

Regarding aliexpress i have brought several bits ...one in particular mirrors for my motorcycle original one's cost around 100 euros got mine for 8.50 euro and just as good only thing is there cool but only can see my fingers...great view when leaning 😂.
Check your insurance, believe it or not my insurance company wanted to increase my premium for installing a tracker and 360 degree cctv. Said would have to pay more if van got stolen.. no sense 😮

I clean aluminium and anything galvanised with white vinegar, it contains 10% acid so it also etches the surface ready for paint, I’ve never had a problem with paint peeling off. 👍

Hi Mel, is the vario 24v system neg earth return, or is it isolated chassis as in trucks? Btw a big advantage with 24v is charging power packs much quicker than 12v,(up to 5x). Also cable sizes can be halved for the same load and less losses. I have 24v inverter/Lifepo4 cells in my transit for this reason. 👍 👍

I used a wolf box rear view mirror mount which is also a dash cam, rear is 1080p and front is 2.5k they also do a 4k front as well. The picture is crystal clear and it is also Wi-Fi so easy to download pictures, as I had no view out the back and the insurance stated a rear camera or parking sensors, this ticked off 2 on my list 1.rear view, 2. Dashcam front and back and the picture is 12” wide. A neat feature is you can scroll the image on the touch screen to view lower down or up. You can also activate a 12 or 24 hour parking mode

Fridge conversion to DC still uses the same Power. Lower volts but way higher current! So power = Power / Current x Volts. Then your incurring AC-DC losses as well, which results in heat (power) loss.
Not when you change the compressor which I’m sure Mel is planning to do. Have a look at belluna fridges from Germany. They convert domestic fridges to run super efficiently on 12 or 24 volt. They change the compressor and the refrigerant. I’ve an 85 liter with freezer which only pulls about 60watts when running and it only needs to come on a few times an hour. Much cheaper than ‘camper branded’ offerings as well.

You can take 12v feed off 1 off the van batteries its only 24v when you use them both. Battery 1 has the negative to earth and the positive to battery 2 negative,the positive from battery 2 is 24v.the positive on battery 1 is 12v.
