For the people who don't have enough time to watch it all 00:00 to 15:00 putting couple wires together on roof from 15:00 to 26:49 is making x2 inner wheel well boxes. You are welcome.
I recommend using Butyl tape to seal the boxes on the roof then sealing round the edge. Gives a good seal and holds it in place until you seal, less messy!
I have my sprinter set up the same way and it's worked a treat I ise my 200amp leisure battery for the 12v and my allpowers unit for the 24v and also it can charge the van if we are parked up for a few days and our sola pannels are wired to the allpowers unit
I used MS11 to fix timber to floor at the start of my conversion...i discovered water was coming in through one of the plastic panels on outside...I had to use a crowbar to remove timber which actually left parts of timber on floor...luckily I found that leak early...Great video as always mel.
This van don’t half move on when Becky is there rest of the time it takes a lifetime for something to get done keep her at it and I won’t have age too much before it’s finished roll on Becky
Good night Mel and becker I love watching your videos of you and your building your new campervan please keep up the good work up on your videos on your you tube channel please keep safe and warm and I hope you are all well and enjoying your build on your new campervan
Sikaflex 291i is an elastic polyurethane marine grade sealant and will hold the wood and other materials in place permanently. It's very strong once cured and no water leaking past this either.
CT1 is a good sealant adhesive and can even be used underwater. Fixed my panelling down in my Motorhome and will take a lot of effort if ever needs to be removed which thankfully it won’t. What I’m trying to say is it’s permanent and reliable stuff
CT1 is the way to go . You’ll have a hell of a job to break it after 36 hours. Available in various colours, but be warned the clear does yellow after a bit.
Hi Mel, Glad to See someone else powering there van like this , i have batteries for All my 12v and my Ecoflow powering my 240v fantastic way of doing It, Great Video by the way.
Just a note the Y connectors are rated for 30amp. Worth checking the cable running in the van think that might be 30amps as well, with the two panels your close to 60amps at 12v. I would run a cable for each pannel. Van is looking good.
But the solar panels are not 12v output, they are more likely 28-36v so the ampere rating will be less than half of what you are suggesting, the conversion is done in the mppt controller, that's where the higher current will be. 👌👍
Great job as usual cool van just a thought why did you use a stick on cover instead of just putting glands in the roof that was what we use to do on the lightships and just a tip when you cut a cable tie if you pull on it then cut it flush it doesn't leave a piece stuck up that can cut you which has happened to me a few times keep up the good work 👍
Polyurethane glue is superb stuff. Don't get it on your skin or you'll be wearing it for a few days. Also activates with water, I usually spray a mist of water on both surfaces before I join.
I like the idea of using the power bank as your solar storage power and batteries for other but doesn’t the Bluetti cooling fans when running (discharging etc) annoy you? I have a few variatious solar power banks and some are very noisy, the AllPowers for one is very noisy.
Mel, the CT1 brand do a product called power grab, its awsome stuff, comes with a large spout for heavy jobs but i just discard that and use a standard sealent nozzle cut a little larger than normal and it is very powerful stuff when its set, its set!
I used that sticks like sh*t for my window fixings on my boat to screw the side panels too admittedly I used sprayfoam around the pieces of wood as well shame I can’t send you a pic, might well use that evo stick wood glue when I make my van cupboards
I have had 2 of those roof glands pop off using tiger seal (yes I did de-grease), so I drilled some small holes along the foot of the gland, for the tiger seal to squidge through and its worked a treat.. Cheers Mel
Hi Mel, Mary is coming along nicely, very entertaining video on installing the cables for wifi and panels, love the arch covers too, We gave a Hymer 7mtr and we would like to change the leisure battery to lipo , do you have any recommendations, cheers Eric & Maj 😅
The batteries are coming down in price now I do like the CREABEST brand

Wow 😮

Thank you for noticing! I'll keep at it and now that Mel has done all the foundational work - we can all see the visual progress.
Hahaha 😝
Great trick with the old speaker magnet to catch the metal while drilling the holes 👍
Glad you liked it👍
Treasure as in metal detecting. If so I’m doing exactly the same 😮
it is, yes. I think he's got another channel for it.
Yes I am and good luck happy hunting 👊
Love the magnet keeps bulk of swarf
That’s the plan but I did still need to hover up afterwards

Maybe that hole is from factory build for aerial ? Van looks awesome Varios Appreciation is good .

@@r33gts Yes thinking about it your right. So its worth him making sure the cable coming out of the MPPT are rated for the 30amps plus.
Pocket hole drill for your wheel arch covers would be so much easier.!!
Or even mitre glue it’s instant. & a nail gun for more strength 👍
I just got myself one 👍

Hi Mel and Becky, are you putting any recycled bottle insulation inside the wheel arch boxes ??
Stay safe guys, your #1 fan in Medway
Hi buddy no I can’t stand the stuff 😂👍
Ct1 pgb power grab and bond is good stuff
Thanks lots of people are saying CT1 is good 👍
That Sticks Like Sh,t glue like all wood glues isn’t designed to stick end grain. Should be face grain to face grain.
Oh that’s interesting thank you ☺️
@@BigVanSmallWorldthat's not the only brand either, Screwfix & Toolstation have dozens of nearly-identical ones.
Loving this camper build I have been watching right from when you and becki were on the van hunt days👍
Awesome! Thank you 👍
You should consider getting yourself a nail gun Mel, it would hold your ply in place while the glue sets up and would make for a better job.
I have looked into them but my god they are extremely expensive

Great stuff mate,
Thanks 👍
Mel.... use CT1 much better, thank me later. sticks and seals and water tight & flexible etc.
Thank you
A good adhesive you could try is CT1 👍🏻
I’ll have to check that out ☺️

I haven't beaten Cascamite yet. It's fiddly because it's a powder you mix up but it sticks brilliantly & lasts forever.
It’s working great so far 👍🤓👍
Hi mel another great video I highly recommend ct1 grab and bond that stuff really dose stick like shi# lol
Thanks for the tip👍
Mint 👌👌👌
Thanks 🙏
I am a legend! Great video guys
Yes you are
Hello Mel I am after a diesel heater fuel pipe quick disconnect. have you ever used one and if so do you have a link please
I'm having trouble finding one too, I've gone with 2 taps & a short rubber hose between them for now.
No sorry to say
Great video 😊
Thanks! 😊

BTW, I find Stick like shit to be superb, though I do use the turbo..
Thanks for the advice really appreciated that
Why don't you fit that wifi thing to a hinge first then to the roof, then you can just move it onto its side for liw areas, just a thought
Great idea
Use fix,all mell I use it at work on all types of stuff wood steel the lot ,and take it from me it do stick it like shit mate try it
Thank you I’ll have a look 👀
I'd bought a star link
Brilliant 👊

Was it you that was going to convert a domestic fridge, from 240v to 12v.
Yea video coming soon
Great video. U not having dab radio in ur van
Why?
With van speakers there's no difference in quality & it uses _lots_ more power.
I don’t listen to radio or tv can’t stand the propaganda from mainstream media
That plaster was covering some sort of van ariel issue
That company should rename it crap like shit 😂😂 dragonfly coming together now, not long to have your well deserved luxury home, glad your both are doing well 💙
Hahah thanks buddy
Hello mel love the look of yr van what is the exact model plz
Thank you ☺️ It’s a 2005 Mercedes Vario 814D
@@BigVanSmallWorld our fantastic mel thank you 😊 love that style of van very retro without being as old as the hills
Hi Mel. Can you remind me what the roof rack system you use is called?
It’s unistrut mate

👍🙂
That glue should be called stinks like 💩
Hahah
Better with no nails mel
that's one of the oldest "hybrid polymer" adhesives, newer ones are much better
I’m getting lost in all the recommended glue lol 😂
I bought a wife and couldn't see him back, no return policy
I think battens would Be a lot better especially if your putting weight on it👎
I’m confused 🫤
er , it obviously doesn't stick like sh@t then , what a crappy product
Nice vid ... missed lunch 😒 ... 🥲😂🤣
