Not that there's anything wrong with wandering around the tempo or adding in different fills or changing up the beat for a verse or chorus, but the drummer in question is doing so many different, little things it's irking me as well.
As a drummer who likes to plays this song it’s kinda irritating at points when he plays it the simple beat different than the recording but it’s still really good 🔥
I really like the clean guitar sound, it's cool Rivers is doing that rather than the half-clean sound he used for most of Weezers career. Sounds great. Solo as well sounded amazing. And the difficult bend in the second chorus sounded better than I think I've ever heard it. Guitar playing: 10/10. Drumming as usual is what really hurts this song. The first chorus here @1:55 starts to suck before it's even arrived. The high hat is so important in the chorus, I just don't get why Weezer don't understand this, it's like they don't understand what makes their own song good. On the record the high hat OWNS the chorus, it's louder than the cymbals and it holds the whole thng together. The second chorus here @3:00 is even more annoying, he's deliberately killing the high hat for the first half, like he's worked out a better way of playing it (A suckier way of playing it) and then he properly hits it on the second half @3:16 onwards and unsuprisingly, it sounds great! Pat and whoever the fuck this guy is need to be sat down with the album version of this song and have Ric Ocasek explain to them how to play their own song properly and how not to suck. Play the drums to Weezer songs EXACTLY the same as the recorded versions. Those are the absolute ultimate drum patterns/fills to play in those songs. So play them exactly the f-in same! If that's boring to you, Weezer drummers, then get another job.
@@annika6790 Yes it literally is. Listen to his voice and just look at him it’s clearly Rivers with a beard. Plus if it wasn’t, they wouldn’t say “Weezer” live it would say “Weezer with guest ____”

he sounds so great here.
woah, they performed on my birthday!
That divebomb Rivers pulls off during the solo is so crunchy 4:09 🔥
Who's playing the drums? That certainly isn't Pat and he comes in on the wrong beat which kinda irks me.

Iansane138 if you have played the same song for 10 years then I'm sure you'd want to make it seem more exciting
It's the drummer from The Bravery. He filled in for Pat for a few tours.

Worth noting that this is a fill-in drummer from The Bravery, so it's kind of useless to judge the drumming on this version.
GoCotton damn chill
