Except for this one-off gag, he didn’t. If you look at any other picture of homer (even the ones from the Tracey Ulman Show) his ears are never once drawn to resemble a “G.”

@@sr.metang8193 I usually choose a different place every time. Sometimes the hair and having it match close to the original color. If their clothing had patterns it's put in the clothes. Sometimes I'll even put it in the eyes since I add so much detail into the coloring!

Animation is drawn at 12 FPS max due to the work. You can tell by the smoothness that it was computer generated. Further, a lot of animation is actually 3D modelled and rendered to look 2D drawn, see Futurama and later Simpsons.

Complex 2d 'puppets' are made which are designed to allow animators keep on model and not have to worry about drawing. You know when homer said about the M and G it got me thinking as I know the first name of the creator is matt. So I typed in "who made the simpsons" and M and G is the creators initials! I love that lol.
Basically in this chapter they showed us that Homer is a natural artist and that he can draw realistic versions of himself. And he can draw perfect circles

They definitely did not rotoscope it. They probably just animated it backwards and then reversed the frame order.
