Hi Nancy, it's true, for apartment dwellers, dorm rooms and first time home buyers who need the right tools to get started. It's the basics without all the fluff.
Even before seeing this I'll give it a like and a thumbs 👍 since my son is going off to college n this info will be indispensable to him! Thanks Angela
Hello, I do gift baskets and I wanted to do college students cleaning kits as well. I have most of the items you shared Thanks, I wasn't sure about what types of cloths. I learned after my daughter attended college and graduated two years ago now and is working.
What a great idea! These microfiber cleaning cloths sold online (amzn.to/3WtvK2c- paid link) could be a great addition to the gift baskets. Keep me posted on how they turn out.🙂
I work Custodial in a school with dorms and I would say that kids should ask their Custodian about some supplies because we can probably get you some things that you won't have to pay for but every place is different.
That is great!! Usually the students in the dorms have to get their own cleaning supplies. But a school that has custodians to provide it, is absolutley awesome!!!
Thanks Nancy for watching and tuning in. We've found that this specific set of tools is just about all you need to survive the entire year at school. :-)
When I was in college back in the 1980’s, all I had to worry about was my room for sleeping/studying. The bathroom was down the hall and the laundry room was in the basement. We ate in the cafeteria. I was expected to clean up after myself well before I left home for college - something women were taught at a young age during my time, but the boys weren’t. My dorm had vinyl floors with throw rugs we brought in. All we needed to do was to stay tidy, sweep, mop, dusting, and laundry. Once I moved into my own apartment, those requirements changed a bit since I had my own kitchen and bathroom to maintain. I did keep house for others part time for extra cash while I was in college.
I like those Scotch-Brite sponges too. For dishes, I cut mine in half. That might help to distinguish from "cleaning bathroom" sponges too! Thanks for all of your hard work and sharing info on RUclips!!
They come in different colors: yellow, pink, blue and pistachio green. Yellow is dishes and countertops, Pink for the cat box, Blue for the bathroom, Green for the floors. The dish sponge get tossed every week.
I can't even begin to tell to how much I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. I JUST SIT AND CRAFT AND WATCH AND LISTED AND LEARN AND DREAM ABOUT BUSINESS IDEAS.... BUT as a human what REALLY REALLY draws me to your videos so much that I can run through several before my real and severe adhd thinks it's bored...(that's what usually happens... if it's your video I only decide to go on a tangent to research something you suggested orn someone is yelling at me for being late. :) Anyways... it's your laugh.... it's your kind pure joyous laugh. It's the laugh with me kind not at me. It's the let's laugh at our selves kinda laugh that forgives and is forgiving for those embarrassing moments that so tragically can grow like mold in people's hearts. And by the way. I'm a therapist..... I'm trained and morbidly experienced in trauma work and suffer from its effects. The show hoarders hurt my heart at first and then made me realize that unfortunately it helps make s really painful target for those living with it . But having said that... my big ugly secret that I hid in fear that it world LITERALLY destroy any good reputation I had worked very hard to build if people found out so I've been struggling silently to combat this on my own. And even when I was really being humble and asking for help it didn't come and in fact close people made it worse by giving me their unwanted items to sell for money to cover my basic needs.....I didn't know how to cope with what I now knew was happening and I had to really dig deep to forgive them for "helping" me with income earning opportunities which only expanded my feelings of shame so much that any of those items I tried to sell were rejected and I'm pretty convinced I must have gotten rejection juice all over them with my energy because I was unaware of how weighted down and hopeless those extra anchors around my neck felt and the people giving me offers for my items probably got the "not worth the investment" signal from my already confused internal compass. I know that sounds bleak and it is so getting back to hoarders I have to be grateful that at least people are learning that this exists and I hope it one day brings critical family members to a very pensive place to know that some of us are seeing the hoard and asking ourselves..... did no one love this person enough to be present and consistent enough with it that they could have held the dam back a lot longer and maybe forever because in the beginning we care Whig and the energy and ability to cover our tracks still exists for people who insist on seeing our face live once in a while. So some of us wonder why they show up now with a camera crew and how their Hearst don't get ripped out knowing someone they love is being metaphorically skinned and gutted alive for the whole world to potentially see because that kind of big movement excites people into believing they are finally doing something tangible to cure a disease. It's rough for me 360 and then I came to one of your videos and at the end I just sat there in utter gratitude for the gentleness of your spirit that I have yet to find in anyone who has claimed Status as a professional what not or the other associated with the great hoarder clean up movement that has swept people up I want you to know I graduated at the top of my class and earned credentials that say it's me not you who is qualified to treat this problem. But I assure you if I could assign legitimate credentials to people who in my opinion have en equivalent measure of practical understanding and skill. You would be a clinically licensed mental health practioner who specializes in the well being of personal age shared spaces in the home and workplace as a part of a holistic treatment approach for individuals groups and families. You have facilitated more healing in the last few WEEKS than I've managed in the last 5 years with a3 person mental health team in my corner and my prayer tonight is that you really feel how much you have provided to not only leave a cleaner world.... but maybe even a few more cleaner consciences as well....😅 I offer you my whole being's deepest appreciation for existing and for the style and integrity with which you do it. May your laughter spread and the gems be dead. Hip hip hooray!!!❤❤❤
Sorry for the bad grammar and saga sized run on sentences.... it's how I roll when I get passionate and then impulse control doesn't clock in until roughly 9am. ;) I hope you understand what I was trying to say. ❤
Thank you so much for your incredibly heartfelt comment! I'm deeply touched to hear how much you enjoy my videos and how they bring joy and inspiration to your life. Your kind words about my laughter and its positive impact mean the world to me. I'm truly sorry to hear about the struggles you've faced with hoarding and the challenges you've experienced in seeking help. It takes immense strength to confront and address these issues on your own, and I commend your courage. Your experience as a therapist gives you a unique perspective, and I appreciate your recognition of the value in my approach. Your words of appreciation and encouragement mean a lot, and I'm grateful to have played a small role in your healing journey. Sending you my deepest gratitude and warmest wishes for continued growth and happiness. Hip hip hooray indeed! ❤️❤️❤️
Halllooo from Brisbane! ❤️❤️ we have MANY pot lids lying in different places: some not next to the correct size saucepans. The dish drainer is a _fabulous_ idea for stacking lids & I’ll also store dish washing detergent next to each sink & shower. So many great ideas even though I left University over 30 yrs ago! 🧽🫧🧹
@@AskAngelaBrown I’m continually looking for ways to keep things organised. In Australia, students stay at home whilst attending university. It’s terrific but it does mean our lad sometimes treats the house as a dorm! All of your ideas are very helpful.
If you have a domed pot lid that does not fit in the slots, you can customize your dish drainer by cutting out one rib, to double the space for the lid. I had to do that, and it made all the difference!
What about cutting off the tips of the corners of the sponge for the bathroom to identify that is for bathroom only? Also, do you use baking soda and vinegar for cleaning over a chemical product?
Thanks so much for this, I’m a housekeeping supervisor for Student Accommodation in the UK, 90% of our rooms are en-suite. We always run a small competition at the end of the academic year, the 5 students who have left their room and bathroom in the best condition get a £10 Amazon voucher! I’ve definitely seen an improvement since we bought in the incentive. I did have one question though; I have noticed a lot of the international students leave their rooms in a very bad condition, as back home they usually had a maid or housekeeper. How can we train them to do simple tasks like clean their shower and toilet, vacuum and dust their bedroom and take out trash without seeming condescending? I assume most 18 year olds know how to do these tasks but some don’t.
You may want to include a laminated list on the back of every dorm door that has the to do's with an illustration of how to do it. I love the cash incentives. And yes, it's true, many students today haven't had any experience cleaning their rooms.
This would be a nice kit for a for a first time homeowner as a housewarming gift

Yay! Hopefully it gives them some tips of things they can do to keep the area cleaner and more enjoyable during the school year. 👍
When you make yourself laugh….I laugh with you.
Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤❤
Hahaha....thanks! Glad I can make someone laugh. Thanks for watching and for the comment, I appreciate it!
Purchased the Oxo Deep Cleaning Brushes based on your recommendation in another video - love them, use them, they're awesome.
Hooray! I believe everyone should have a set or three. I use mine every day for a dozen different things. LOL.
@@AskAngelaBrown I was thinking the same thing after watching the live yesterday! Put another one in my Amazon shopping cart, different color.

Wow, thank you for sharing your story! I bet those housekeeping skills came in handy when you got your own place!
I wish I was young, studious, in education, free and had a dorm.
Right? I might go back to those days myself if given a choice. LOL.

I don't use baking soda and vinegar together. Either can be used but separately as the baking soda neutralizes the acid in the vinegar.
The swiffer can often be used to go under the stove, fridge, on the side and between washers and dryers.
Yes, it’s an amazing tool. Thanks so much for sharing these tips. 👍
Not the sponges being handed out at Halloween!! 🤣🤣Not gonna lie, I'd go trick or treating for some cleaning supplies!

Thanks for watching and congratulations on having sons in college. I'm proud of you and for you. 👏
