More surface area, therefore more stability and better grip in wet/slippery conditions.
I made my choice of buying one this year.
I was looking to Yamaha xenter125 as well.
But thanks to you’re review I changed my mind and I am going for the tricitty.
I had my doubts about the double front wheels, but I think it’s actually going to benefit my need, because it’s wet almost all the time in Holland.

Thanks, good to hear. Yes, most videos out there are just a compilation of pictures with some horrible music or sometimes a robotic voice.
Just a little info for you as I don’t think you noticed it but inside the cubbyhole pocket is a 12v charge port so you can charge your phone, that’s probably why the cubbyhole was on the small side as it’s designed to hold your phone.
I do think they could’ve made it a little bit bigger say to hold a 500ml bottle of drink but it’s handy anyway. I keep in mine a Little first aid kit.

Yamaha recently released an updated version of this. The thing that struck me was the fact that the updated one doesn't have ABS, it only has UBS. Are you sure that the old version indeed had ABS installed? Also, nice video! Thanks :)
Good video review. Too bad this scooter won't come to North America. The Piaggio MP3 500 is here, but I do wish they would have brought the Yourban here too. This Tri-City looks sort of cool. I think if it did come to North America they should up the cc to at least 300cc to make it more marketable.
Agree with the power output. There will be a 155ccm version of the Tricity in Italy available this years as far as I am informed. Unfortunately it won't make it to the rest of Europe.
Excellent idea. I imagine the biggest advantage is in the wet.
+monck55 it is, personally I have thought about one myself, however I would be more interested if Yamaha would make a 250ccm or 300ccm Tricity. Unfortunately we only get the 125ccm in Germany/Austria/Switzerland while Italy has a 155ccm version. It's great for wet roads, basically a all-year Scooter.

I'm buying the 2022 version and I'm wondering if, in your opinion, it will be comfortable for longer routes, I'm not talking about 500 km+ routes but rather 200-300 with the assumption that I mainly intend to drive on side roads and situationally on expressways.
This is a very personal thing… some bikes/ scooters are comfortable for me personally while others are painful after 25-30 minutes already.
I would suggest to rent one or test drive one for like 150-200km if your dealer would offer it.
Can you drive the bigger capacity engines, if so maybe the Tricity300 would be the better option for longer rides…
awesome review, thanks a lot for the info. Im deciding between the Tricity and the PCX. If there's oil on the road, will the Tricity has more chance of avoide sliding and causing an accident?
+hxy32167 thanks for watching. Well, comparing the PCX and the Tricity, you obviously will have more chances with 3 wheels. But don't get fooled and too crazy with the Tricity either, the physics apply the same as to other 2-wheel scooters.
hxy32167 the premise of it is that if one wheel slips the other wheel keeps the bike upright.
I tested this by accident last week I slipped on oil but stayed upright. Also my back wheel slipped and I was saved

Thanks. Well, it’s a 125ccm. I would love this concept from Yamaha with a 250-400ccm, it would be amazing but I guess too dangerous for most...
Just to let you know that the Tricity 125 2018 has a max speed of 80-85 Km/h on a flat road without wind. That is a nightmare as I bought it as lots of reviews said that model can drive max GPS speed : 106km/h but it's completely wrong. The Yamaha shop little guy tested as well and yes... he could drive to max 92km/h (little slope down) written on the scooter... on GPS it's less of course. Is there a problem with my 2018 scooter ?
hy have you got an ideea of the fuel consumption on this scooter let s say eco mode or regular mode thank you ?
Unfortunately I didn’t have it long enough to say something about the possible range and overall fuel consumption.

Did you drive it on snow? If so, did you put winter tires on it, how did it handle on snow, does it get up steep roads on snow? I`m considering buying one, but if it can`t handle austrian winters with proper tires it is useless for me. please answer, i `d really like to know. Have fun! Edit: in austria you are allowed to ride a 125ccm bike with a car license.
Sorry, I didn’t ride it in snow as it is not my scooter and test scooters are not available in winter months. It will be more stable for sure, but once it’s slippery on the road more wheels won’t turn off the laws of physics.

Do u can drive it when the road is wee bit icy?
It’s basically the perfect scooter for wet roads. You can ride it one slippery roads, but physics still apply for any bike/scooter/car in slippery conditions. If you go too fast, you gonna crash with this one as well, but it is obviously more stable!
What kind of license do you need?
You need the A1 or small motorcycle license as the wheels base is too narrow. Other than the PEUGEOT three wheeler which you can ride with a car license.
Is this scooter coming to the United States?
I cannot tell you. Best would be to contact your local Yamaha dealership and ask them.
You can drive them in Spain with your car license

Yes, but keep in mind it is heavier than your regular two-wheel scooters. But it’s much more stable on the road and you can ride it when it’s wet with much more ease.

Not being sold in Switzerland/ Germany/ Austria due to drivers license regulations. The Tricity 155 is only being sold in Italy and maybe France too.
Auto Review it s a pity as I have a motorbike driving licence and I can drive huge motorbike but I do not find this little scooter ! importation is a nightmare !

117km/h sounds sufficient, though I’d wish for around 130km/h to have some reserve above the max. speed limit in Switzerland.
