As a lifetime biker I think that it's a brilliant concept and would seriously consider one. Diagnosed with MS a few years back and have had to give up bigger bikes and cut riding right back because of the weakness in my legs. Was considering building a trike moving forward but this definitely needs further investigation. . Great video. . Cheers 👍
I was just talking to a bloke yesterday, 6'5, no health issues, and he got rid of his as he found it just too heavy and cumbersome to manoeuvre. Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but as someone with health issues myself, I thought I would just pass on this chaps experience.... something to bear in mind in the least. There are still lighter options I believe.
I am looking also for a bike that is really stable as I have also muscular dystrophy and has made it really hard to find a bike that I don’t need to use mush my legs to keep stable the bike specially when is stopped . And this one it looks right but as you said needs more investigation first before I call it perfect …!
Last motorbike I had was a xr80 back in 82. Always wanted another crack at motorbiking, but never could be bothered getting a cbt so this is the answer to many people's problems. Looked like great fun! Great video 👍
Thank you for such a comprehensive review and run through of everything… I just ordered one today and as a car drivers first steps into the world of scooters/bikes very much looking forward to many miles of adventure (with care and will be doing CBT etc)
These are very popular in Europe in the older cities that have lots of road cobbles/setts because this style of trike is so much more difficult to drop on corners if the cobbles are wet. 👍
Nice vid, Gus! I rode the first two-up-front scooters, the MP3s, when they were a new thing. A 250, a 400 and then a 500 (Fuoco). Extremely practical and versatile, but fun too. I commuted every day and toured Europe with them as well. I leaned more on them then I ever have on 'proper' motorcycles, because they were so stable (then again, I'm not a 'sports' biker). They are great. You make me laugh comparing it to a car, Angus, hehe. It's a maxi scooter in all ways - the two wheels up front is almost just a 'feature'. It is great for new riders, but it's bonkers you can ride it on a car licence. It rides nothing like a car drives or even a trike rides. It leans like a scooter. It rides like a scooter. The linkages up front make it lumber a tad until you are moving, but the pay-off in grip and stability is fantastic. The 'tripod effect' feels solid even if you slide it sideways, while leaning! (Not that I'd advise that, still hehe). FYI: The 'stand-assist' isn't something you'd want to use for anything but parking. Not even at the lights. Turning your scooter into a narrow trike (especially when the switching takes a couple of seconds) is asking to fall over, ironically. I tried it once - rolled into a pothole, and because the suspension was no longer working independently it nearly tipped over. For parking though? Awesome. Laugh as you pull up into a slippery sloping grass field, stop wherever you fancy, press lock, put on the handbrake, get off and start setting up your tent, while the rest of the scooter club slide around and struggle to find somewhere they can safely put down a kick-stand! Giggle as you pull up to a stacked London bike park, lock it upright, get off and then push it into a tiny gap from behind!
Haha cheers 👍Thats cool you have a lot of experience with them! It is a bit crazy that you can ride it with a car license, very strange indeed!! Blimey I would be nervous sliding it around a corner, I was nervous just leaning it!! Suppose you get used to it quite quickly though. Sounds like you had a lot of fun on them and really liked it 👌 That is great to hear, I love the fact that everyone has different experiences with different machines. The beauty of motorcycling, it is sooo much fun. Cheers
@@redangrevival Very true, mate! No matter what machine or how fast you go, having knees in the breeze and leaning around corners is something wonderful. I'm all booked up for London DGR, by the way. Will no doubt see you there.
Depends on distance between the two front wheels. Used to be able to get spacers for the piaggio to make the wheels wide enough to stop it being a motorcycle. Most modern car licences do not cover trikes.
After 2013 I don't think it works anymore. Everyone who got a licence before this date now looks like they have a full motorcycle entitlement. But it's just to cover trikes that's all.
It's a tool to do a job and if I was still having to do the traffic infested daily commute; it would be on my shopping list for sure. The added bonus is that it looks like a bit of fun for the occasional ride out on a weekend as well; winner winner in my opinion. (I like the looks; it looks like it came out of a 1970's science fiction show. It's not a motorbike; it's something else, so it's allowed to look different) Nice review; thanks.
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the review 👍 It is definitely practical and good for the daily commute. Can't say I am with you on the looks department though! 😉
If you can't park it in a free "solo motorcycle" space (Scotland) then it isn't any use for the city. If you can't use bus lanes then it starts to become even less useful compared to a two wheel scooter or small commuter motorcycle
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Haha yes that is amazing that the Italians have managed to make something more practical than Yamaha! Cheers
Great review,I have only one leg witch side is the foot brake I lost my left leg ,so stopping you don’t have to put you feet foot on the ground? Is this only one rider can you carry a passenger? Do you think this would be a good vehicle for me being disabled (one leg ) I look forward to hearing from you on my question,it looked very nippy on the road no gears changing to worry about ,thanks for sharing this review,John
I own one 😀 and it is fantastic to ride, Takes getting used to in slow sharp turns but soon get the hang of it. One stat people are interested in, is fuel consumption. I have done a few urban and rural combined trips and the fuel average was 79.8mpg.
I'm also very happy, I barely did 700km, and it's really great, but I have to drive 300 km to change the oil and do an first service, I save it a bit at the final speed because of that, I drove around 120 km / h I don't know how much is the final speed that Tricity can do
@@redangrevival Thank you for your answer, but about the service, the first regular service is required for 1000 kilometers, but it is important that Yamaha offers a 3-year warranty, at least here in Slovenia
there is a second Yamaha recall on the Tricity 300's due to faulty lock assist locking on and not releasing , first recall to fix did not work , Today I received a letter from Yamaha not to use the stand assist at all until they can find a proper remedy , much as I love this bike if they cannot fix it I think I am entitled to get a full refund due to not fit for purpose and possible to have an accident through no fault of my own . this fault seems to be being hushed as I have not seen any mention online from reviewers .
Another option for this kind of trikes that was not mentioned is the Peugeot Metropolis. It has been around since 2013. It has the same kind of locking mechanism as shown. Press button to lock the tilt of the wheels and press the button again or the throttle to unlock it.
You can use motorbikes with an engine size of 125cc or more to tow small trailers. When the trailer is loaded it must weigh no more than 150 kilograms or 2/3 of the kerbside weight of the motorbike - whichever is lighter. Link: www.gov.uk/towing-with-motorcycle
I was considering buying this, but sadly because it's more than one meter long, I would have to pay the congestion charge in many cities in Britain. Absolutely gutted! Great video!
A metre long???? ................ you mistyped that. Congestion charges in "many" cities in Britain? Only a few, especially the State of Kahn (at the moment)
Drivers of motor tricycle vehicles can apply to not have to pay the Congestion Charge if the vehicle is one metre or less wide and two metres or less long. To do this, they must apply in writing and send in photographs of the vehicle, a copy of the registration document and a £10 registration charge.
🙌 Good morning and thank you so much for your generous support. That means a lot and really helps me continue making videos. Thanks and have a great day. See you in the next one 👍
My first “bike” is my Can Am Spyder. Being disabled it has allowed me to experience riding without having to take a test for something I’ll never be able to use. I’m buying a brand new Spyder Sea to Sky this year.
Great review and I’ve now gone out and bought one for pottering around and also adventures in the Highlands and Borders of Scotland 🏴. If you can get close to 80 mpg that would be fantastic, as my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon only does around 23 mpg, although it is great fun off-road. Only real concern is the weight of it for slow manoeuvres, although the Yamaha dealer says it’s often best to hop off it, activate the stand assist and then push it around manually, rather than “duck walk” it backwards etc.. I think you’d need to be quite hardy to ride in the winter up here though, even if the wide trike does give a measure of weather protection.
👍 Thanks, glad you liked the review. Yes I think you will definitely get 80 mpg from it. Certainly better than the Jeep haha!! Yup they did say this to me as well (in regards to manoeuvring), seems like the best option. Yes it takes a certain type of person to do that type of riding in the Winter up there!!

@@uptowndisco2 Yes, I know, just replied to your previous message mentioning a possible recall. I bought a new Tricity 300 a few weeks ago from MCS at Kilmarnock, but they can’t let me have it now as it is currently classed as unsafe, so can’t be registered or a warranty issued. I’m clearly entitled to a full refund having not received my machine, but I was so looking forward to it, I’m really upset.
@@stonemarten1400 maybe you dodged a bullet not yet having the scooter 🙂, I don't know where I stand yet due to me already owning the bike , but if Yamaha can not come up with a good safe fix I will be checking with trading standards what my legal options are . nice bike though lol
Northampton Police have had the Yamaha Tricity converted to a hybrid petrol electric, I would love to see a review of that conversion. Worth mentioning that in London, these are liable to the congestion charge, and technically not allowed in solo motorcycle bays.
Ha that sounds very interesting! Will have to get in touch with them for a test ride 😁 Can imagine it is extremely fuel efficient. That is a really good point and worth mentioning, definite down side in London
On my 1979 moto guzzi the front brake lever operates the right side disc on the front wheel ,the foot brake operates the rear disc and left disc on front wheel,.
Just one important point regarding the licence required. In the UK, you do need a A licence (79)3 but these came with car driving licences upto 2013. The (79)3 is a trike restriction on a A entitlement. Ive had my Tricity since November and love it. Nice video.
Hi Paul, thanks for the info 👍 That is good to know the specifics. I must say I didn't know too much about this bike before riding it, but I can definitely see its appeal and how practical they are. Long may you continue to enjoy it. Cheers
I’ve had a bit of a nightmare trying to get hold of one up here in Scotland, the dealer even having my latest order from January cancelled in April by Yamaha without proper explanation. Pull your finger out Yamaha. It’s been 18 months since I first expressed an interest and I’ve been messed around ever since. Still persevering and at least it seems the machine seems to get positive reviews.
@@stonemarten1400 That's poor, sorry to read your experience so far. I can't help you source one, I can say I'm very pleased with mine. I went for a 3 hour ride on Sunday and covered about 130 miles. Good luck, I do hope Yamaha deliver.
👍 I have never ridden the MP3, however I can say the Tricity felt very good. I believe the stand assist is more advanced on the Tricity. Perhaps a test ride is in order!
I’ve always ridden larger bikes. 900-1200cc, because I like the ability to pack the panniers and cover longer distances comfortably. These bikes look like they hit the perfect compromise, as the smaller motor will be economical, yet powerful enough to sit comfortably at the speed limit. I don’t think the extra width at the front would be wider than an average sports tourer with hard side panniers at the rear, and I’ve never had any issues filtering through slow traffic on my 1200cc BMW touring bike. I’d fit a top box and side luggage immediately to this, to release its full potential as a year round workhorse. The 3 wheel configuration will give newbies a lot more confidence in the wet and colder weather, and the luggage will make it a viable alternative to a small car for most people who live in ULEZ areas, or want better mpg or struggle to find parking at work or home. I like the idea of more people trying something different like this anyway. They free up more space on the road, and any rider will tell you that getting out on your bike everyday just makes you happier, as they’re MUCH MORE FUN!😂😎
Very well said 👍 To be honest I would prefer just two wheels! However as you say it is very practical and makes riding more accessible to the masses. It will help ease congestion and it is very economical. I am all for them. Cheers
interesting bike/video...i like the stay upright feature...I thought it was an electric bike first....nice review....now to replace all the cars with one of these!!
Just before the COVID got known I was looking for a daily commuter and this came out. I already knew the 125 but thought the power was a bit underwhelming particularly due to the weight. My daily commuter is a w650 cafe racer that has zero practicality to modern day life. I also have a bunch of kids, and would like to assure their mothers (long story) that when they ride pillion... there is a little bit more comfort, stability and security riding in Lisbon's pothole, tram line, manhole, bad paint, coblestone riddled roads. Still today. SO this one, for me is an obvious choice.
Sounds like a great match for your needs 👍 Very stable and safe for riding with a pillion. kudos to you for daily riding the w650 cafe racer, that is super cool 😎🏍 A true rider!! I get it though, this Tricity 300 is just so practical and it is still fun. All the best from the UK.
The best three-wheeled tilting scooter is the Kymco CV3 - 550cc and it stands up on its own. I like three-wheelers. I own four motorbikes and a scooter, but my 'car' is a Can-Am Spyder F3-S. 1330cc inline triple. It's like a snowmobile on wheels, but it doesn't lean. Sticks to the road like glue and it's fast. I love it.
Thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoy the reviews 👍 Yes I am looking to get a ride on the MP3 Piaggio soon. It is the only place the camera would fit! Not ideal
@@redangrevival it feels like I have wasted £8000 cause I can’t ride it because its 230kg and a high seat height, having to use tiptoe with a passenger not good
Yeah, nice looking bit of kit. Stability looks good, still wondering about snow & British winters...but mild weather cruises, beats any car transport eh!...innovative product is key to future success, so good luck 👍
Great video, I think there would be a market for this type of bike but yet again uk licensing stops it. I'm very keen on promoting motorcycling and the thing that puts people off is having to take the over complicated licensing process. If you have done a theory test for a car why do you need to do it again for a motorcycle. Both my sons did the car and motorcycle theory while getting there full licence in both and they said the theory was identical. We need a major overhaul of motorcycle licensing.
Theory for motorbike was different for me at least 20 years ago. It covered motorbike specific concerns. I know because like your sons I passed my car test around the same time I did my bike test, and thought its pointless but then it was different.
@@littlefishy6316 To me a motorcycle is not a weekend toy it’s transport as they were meant to be . Some of the latest designs look like they have been designed by robots & not human beings . That Yamaha Tricity looks a dogs breakfast & over complicated & a nightmare for owners to get their spanner’s into & more parts to service & replace . I have only ever seen one of these style of scooters actually on road & it was a demo model made by Piaggio years ago . I haven’t seen one on the road since .
It is a hybrid of a scooter and a motorbike. It has its advantages. In some ways the best of both worlds for some. In Australia, My new Tricity has the foot brake removed I find the front brake very powerful. Is this the reason the front brake is powerful? There is a panel where it is supposed to be. The panel looks very much part of the original manufacture by Yamaha. Perhaps it is Australian law, no foot brake. I will find out when I take Tricy for her first service. I have been riding bikes since the 1950s and had many make of bike in that time. This Hybrid corners like it's running on rails, very surprising. It takes a bit of getting used to but once you do it is a very enjoyable comfortable Sunday morning ride in the countryside out to your favourite motorbike cafe. On a cold morning, most of your body is out of the cold air stream. The one thing I miss is the tank between my knees. I always feel something is missing and affects the way I ride. With a motorbike, your body becomes part of the machine a scooter Hybrid, you just sit in it like a car. That's different but you have many positions for your feet and changing positions is nice on that long ride.
Absolutely, has its advantages and disadvantages 👍 Very practical and easy to ride, and like you say the wind protection is brilliant. I didn't know you get chilly mornings in Aus!! 😉 Not too sure why you have no foot brake, must be a local law! On the one I rode the left hand brake is very strong as it applies all 3 brakes at the same time. It is an interesting bike/trike and definitely has its advantages. I would need longer on it to get used to the cornering with 3 wheels. Cheers
@@redangrevival In Western Australia, we have the extremes from as hot as over 40degrees a few days in summer and sometimes below 12 degrees in winter to compensate we do have the advantage of over 240 sunshine days a year with most of our rain in winter. With slightly more inches of rain per year than London. I originate from Kent 42 years ago. Did most of my riding around London and the southeast on an AJS CSR 650 wish I still owned it? At one time I had a Triumph Thunderbird with a sprung hub believe me that was an animal to ride. Riding here in Wa is an absolute pleasure once you get out of the city the traffic flow is low. In the past, I had a desire to ride right around Australia visiting towns and interesting places on the way. When I last checked that was over 42,000km more than the distance around the earth at the equator. If you plan it correctly and take a year to do it you can ride all the way round in summer weather. I have reached the age now where my partner said no more two wheels so I bought the Tricity. "She said I meant Motorbikes". Really!!!!!
👍 haha good for you, we need our motorcycle fix somehow!! Nice, that is a great plan to have, I would absolutely love to do something like that around Australia!! Heaven 🙌 Thanks for the info, really interesting. I have now added that trip to my bucket list (motorcycle around Australia). Keep riding my friend and enjoy the nice weather you have out there. All the best from the UK 👍
I believe here in the UK if you remove the foot brake you would be breaking the law in regards to its classification as a trike. It would certainly fail a MOT test without this foot brake. Shame, because it’s position is too far back to be used comfortably with the ball of the foot and who would brake with their heal? Frankly, it’s pretty useless, just getting in the way.
piaggio mp3 also has a handbrake to stop it rolling, something you see the Yamaha doing in this video and i see a comment that Piaggio has reverse gear.
Liked and subbing. I have a 2021 F-3S Spyder 1330 cc 3 cylinder. It’s such a nice trike and pretty fast too! All the goodies, ABS, traction control, stability control, cruse control. What a honey. Does require a m3 license or if you already have a motorcycle license, your good to go! 😉
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Welcome to the channel! Love the look of the Spyder, would really like to test one out. Another level about this Tricity 😁 Bet that triple engine is a peach. Also relaxing to ride as well. Cheers
You bet. I just found out the motor (Rotax) is made in Australia but is owned by BMW MOTORCYCLES! One of my customers has about 5 or 6 BMWS in his (house’s) garage and his smaller bikes (wife’s) have parallel twins made by Rotax.
👍 Thanks Alexander, glad you liked it. Me neither don't think I will be owning one any time soon!! As you say, very interesting to expand ones knowledge and experience all types of motorcycles/trikes!! Cheers
I’ve always wanted to own and ride a motorcycle but I have dyspraxia so I’ve never been able to ride a bike and seeing one with 3 wheels is giving me hope that I could ride one of these
Hired a Piaggio mp3 in Corfu a few years ago. Loved it in the winding mountain roads. I've only ridden motorbikes on a few occasions (off road in my younger years). Bit of a learning curve for me and I did manage to tip it over turning a sharp right junction with my son on the back, very embarrassing at the time but that feeling has worn off now! Tons of fun though. Nearly mastered it after 5 days hire and didn't lose the damage deposit. Conclusion super duper. Street Hawk next!
👍 I have heard that the Piaggio is great as well! I think it is a good idea to need a trike license. These things are more similar to motorcycles than cars, and I think at least require some training. Silly law in the UK.
I live like 30 minutes away from any town, and I need a viable option for no license. I have a nice little trike converted to e-bike, but I need something that will take me a bit further as all my major doctors are in the bigger city. And I hope this will fit the bill.
Although quit interesting, that stand assist. I emagin emediatley been in a band and though technical fault it coming on and me been in a bit of a pickle.
In most other countries, like Australia were I live it would be still regarded as a motorbike needing a motorbike licence. Only 50cc or less qualify as scooters that can be ridden on car licence.
Nice to see a local video, if you ever see a manic dirty yellow three wheeler round the place... that would be mine. I am wondering too if it had a single saddle, there is a very little known loophole in trikes that if its single use e.g. cannot carry a passenger then you could prob ride it on a provisional subject to DVLA as I have heard of a couple people who have made single seat trikes and ride them on a provi.
My Reliant can thunder up Babylon Hill at speed limit with plenty to give, can thrash it to just under a ton but trust me a three wheeler of any kind is scary as heck at 100mph and the front end of a Reliant is planing making the steering insanely skittish. You should take yours on a decent ramble round the leafy lanes down towards Cerne, Kings Stag, Marnhull. Marnhull, Child Okeford a lot of "A touch of glass" episode of Only Fools and Horses was filmed and the stately home is that posh school over in Blandford, Alan Parry actor Denis Lil lives not far either in Yetminster, gets a bit cross if you ask him to autograph an Oxo cube... :P
A beautiful area of the country 👍 haha I will keep an eye out for you! Yes the laws around trikes seem to be a bit hard to understand. Am sure there are some good loopholes etc...
I have aprilia sr gt 125cc scooter. Its a nice scooter but a bit to small and a bit underpower for my needs. This sims bigger, higher top speed and looks better option for me. The question I have is, how is accelaration? Is it noteble faster then 125cc 15hp maxiscooter?
Incorrect to say that no licence is required. In Canada there is NO jurisdiction which allows operation of this vehicle (or any other 3 wheeled motorcycle) without either a motorcycle licence or a motorcycle licence with a 3WMC endorsement.
This bike seems ideal for me. I might need to look into it a bit more. After motorbike accident that left me in a wheelchair for four years and with subsequent lifetime disabilities along with the fact that I am less than 5 foot so kind of struggle putting my legs down to hold a bike before the accident. This seems like an ideal way to get back out there.
Sorry to hear about your accident. There is light on the horizon, this could be a great option for you to get back out on the road. I would recommend testing one out, the front wheel lock is a great feature but can be a bit unstable at times!
The only time I would think of a trike than 2 wheel would be for the biker who just doesn’t want to drive a car because of the feel of the elements and stability , in winter ‘snow conditions
Here in Ireland anybody who had a car licence before 2013 is covered to ride a trike.Anyone who obtains their first licence after 2013 must have a motorbike licence..On a slightly different note,, you can drive a 3 wheeled car on a motor bike licence...( Compo "Last of the Summer Wine,a Bale of Hay") 😀
👍 that is interesting, thanks for the info. Yes the rules seem to change a fair bit depending on what country you are in. A 3 wheeled car with a bike licence! That is fun. Perhaps I should do a video of a 3 wheeled car!!

I have owned and ridden conventional trikes but have not tried one of these. I don't think I will be trading my bike in any time soon but it does look interesting.
just a thought, these may not be allowed in bus lanes and some parking places as it's not a two wheeler. Most of these places and things say two wheeled motorcycles, because when they came up with the rules they didn't have these types of vehicles. So you might end up with fines for riding in bus lanes and parking on motorcycle parking spaces.
@@redangrevival I think technically you could end up with fines, I don't think they allow Reliant Robins to drive in the bus lane or the Carver 1 only two wheeled motorcycles, I don't think they allow quad bikes either so I doubt they would allow this, which basically means you could end up sitting in traffic. But saying that I have seen people riding those Peageot 3 wheelers in bus lanes, and even seen them parked in two wheel parking bays, so it is something that would need to be researched to see what the actual law is now with regards to these or you could end up very unhappy at buying one.
@@flitsies I am guessing it is not allowed, however some people with 3 wheelers do it anyway and get fined for it. Or maybe even the parking wardens don't know either!
@@redangrevival So it puts these types of vehicles in a bit of spot for parking, do they take up a whole car parking space and have to sit in traffic thus negating any real benefits or is it needed for the govt to make some sensible changes to allow them to park and use bus lanes, plus put in more free motorcycle parking in the right locations. I find parking spaces everywhere for cars, but very few for motorcycles, and often cars can park right where they want to be or close to it, which motorcycle parking bays tend to be right out the way where it's easy for thieves to hack away at your locks without being disturbed.
imo car licence holders who've never ridden a scooter/mbike should do a CBT or similar. I own a 3 wheeler and my experience on bikes and Scooters helped me get the best out of them.
Two questions: 1. do you feel comfortable splitting the lanes with cars and how tight can you do a u-turn? The Kymco CV3 with the 550 engine seams a better buy but Yamaha certainly has a longer history. Thanks mate.
It is not as easy as a standard two wheeled motorcycle, but much better than a car! Yes U-turns are easy to make, great balance. If you want the engine I recommend the biggest Yamaha one. Quite expensive though

This may sound silly, but as a car owner who lives in a climate where we have a winter, is this thing any good in light snow? Any availability for snow tires?
Interesting especially the Stand Assist. The problem with motorcycles is fat, more gripping tyres on the back. You want to loose, the back end first when pushing the limits of a vehicle . 70 mph that's too fast in the UK surely. 7 mph grace perhaps. I drove a van, which is limited to 60 mph on a dual carriageway.
It is really stable and you would have to be going silly speeds to loose the front end! 70mph on the dual carriageway, providing traffic is safe is a fine speed

Last motorbike I had was a xr80 back in 82. Always wanted another crack at motorbiking, but never could be bothered getting a cbt so this is the answer to many people's problems.
Looked like great fun! Great video 👍
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Absolutely a great way to get back into biking, recommend giving it ago! Cheers
My last bike was a Honda CB 175 in 1978 and would love to get a 125/175 if it wasn't for the cbt. First bike was a FS1e...great days!
cbt takes about 4 hours, it's not a points thing, if you're alive at the end chances are good you'll walk away with a cbt certificate.
Witch one would you buy piaggio or tricity many thanks john
@@flotinaway7 Yeah CBT is no big deal, give it a go and you'll be glad you did.
Thank you for such a comprehensive review and run through of everything… I just ordered one today and as a car drivers first steps into the world of scooters/bikes very much looking forward to many miles of adventure (with care and will be doing CBT etc)
It is my pleasure and really glad it was helpful 👍 Welcome to motorcycling, you have lots of fun times ahead. Cheers
Solid presentation…I am becoming a big fan of 3wheelers …many safety advantages and comfort…
Thanks I appreciate it 👍 Yes they definitely have their market and are impressive bikes to ride. I hope they catch on more
These are very popular in Europe in the older cities that have lots of road cobbles/setts because this style of trike is so much more difficult to drop on corners if the cobbles are wet. 👍
👍 a great point and I can see why they are popular in Europe
Just like to say, this is the best vid thats been done on the tricity to date. Well done.
Thanks so much I really appreciate that 👍 Glad you enjoyed it
Thank You for Your interesting review.
Much information and very nice and heartily how You talk about the trike.
Best regards from Germany ...
Hi Ralf, many thanks really glad you liked the review 👍 All the best from the UK
100% would be good to catch up. Keep an eye out for me, I will be that guy with a camera!!
Thanks. So I can not sit at the traffic light without putting my feet on ground?
@@UNKNOWN-un6nz You can sit at traffic lights without putting your feet down 👍
Depends on distance between the two front wheels.
@gilburton thanks for the update 😃
It's a tool to do a job and if I was still having to do the traffic infested daily commute; it would be on my shopping list for sure. The added bonus is that it looks like a bit of fun for the occasional ride out on a weekend as well; winner winner in my opinion. (I like the looks; it looks like it came out of a 1970's science fiction show. It's not a motorbike; it's something else, so it's allowed to look different) Nice review; thanks.
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the review 👍 It is definitely practical and good for the daily commute. Can't say I am with you on the looks department though! 😉
Yes, I have to do a brutal commute with motorway filtering and city filtering, there is a market for this machine
If you can't park it in a free "solo motorcycle" space (Scotland) then it isn't any use for the city. If you can't use bus lanes then it starts to become even less useful compared to a two wheel scooter or small commuter motorcycle
Dobar motor imao sam MP3 i bio zadovoljan ali kad sam kupio Yamahu to je odmah bio viši level.
I bez straha odlučio na put do francuske rivijere.Napravio bez problema oko 2800 km bez umora i
žuljeva komforan i vrhunski za vožnju.
Yamaha je boljši kot mp3?
That car park at the end was amazing! Would love one that big in Exeter to practice my slow riding skills!
Yup it is great for filming etc... Just outside of a sports ground 👍
Excellent video!
I'm getting on a bit so falling of my scooter not such a good idea. This is an interesting alternative thanks for so much information.
👍 It is my pleasure and glad you enjoyed the video. Yes this type of scooter/trike is a great substitute for two wheels, and still fun to ride
The Piaggio does have a reverse gear interestingly, lol. Come on Yamaha, don't let the Italian's beat you! Nicely narrated, enjoyed watching, thanks!
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Haha yes that is amazing that the Italians have managed to make something more practical than Yamaha! Cheers
Yep but only on the 500 and 530 models. It would be nice on all models because of the weight tho.
👍 nice, yes I can imagine it takes a bit of getting used to! Wow that is brilliant mpg!! There definitely are many benefits to this bike. Cheers
I'm also very happy, I barely did 700km, and it's really great, but I have to drive 300 km to change the oil and do an first service, I save it a bit at the final speed because of that, I drove around 120 km / h I don't know how much is the final speed that Tricity can do
👍 Great to hear that you like the Tricity as well! It seems to be a popular bike. Good luck with your service.
👌 seems like Peugeot where onto something but just did not market it that well! It is a great feature but definitely takes some getting used to.
This is brillaint. A good way of getting (potentially), my wife on '2/3 wheels' without the palaver of tests etc.
Spotted one other day in town, just had to have a look, what surprised me,the young lass who owned it, had even had a tow hitch fitted.😲
😂 That is brilliant! Presumably to tow the kids behind in the car!!
You can use motorbikes with an engine size of 125cc or more to tow small trailers. When the trailer is loaded it must weigh no more than 150 kilograms or 2/3 of the kerbside weight of the motorbike - whichever is lighter.

I was considering buying this, but sadly because it's more than one meter long, I would have to pay the congestion charge in many cities in Britain. Absolutely gutted! Great video!
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes that is a real shame and something I forgot to mention in the video!
Cant think of any bike under a meter long?
A metre long???? ................ you mistyped that. Congestion charges in "many" cities in Britain? Only a few, especially the State of Kahn (at the moment)
Congestion tax. You mistyped.
Drivers of motor tricycle vehicles can apply to not have to pay the Congestion Charge if the vehicle is one metre or less wide and two metres or less long. To do this, they must apply in writing and send in photographs of the vehicle, a copy of the registration document and a £10 registration charge.
Thanks
🙌 Good morning and thank you so much for your generous support. That means a lot and really helps me continue making videos. Thanks and have a great day. See you in the next one 👍
My first “bike” is my Can Am Spyder. Being disabled it has allowed me to experience riding without having to take a test for something I’ll never be able to use. I’m buying a brand new Spyder Sea to Sky this year.
👍 That is brilliant, I would LOVE to have a go on a Spyder! Glad you enjoy it and can get your biking fix and wind in the hair
What a brilliant video, thanks for the info 😊
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍

@@redangrevival Hybrid conversion was done for Northamptonshire police by White Motorcycle Concepts (WMC) based in Northamptonshire.

On my 1979 moto guzzi the front brake lever operates the right side disc on the front wheel ,the foot brake operates the rear disc and left disc on front wheel,.
Haha that is wild!

Really a good thing for urban mobility. Nice video.
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes they really are very practical tools
I would like the option of a canopy for the scottish weather.
Cheers
i really like the cvt transmission, the 1958 buick had one.

My first 125 was 750mm wide, this is only 850 - not bad at all!
You forgot to explain the foot brake, I was so excited to hear about it.
Apologies for that
Yeah . Would have liked to see a braking test .
Everyone post COVID ....🏍️
The best three-wheeled tilting scooter is the Kymco CV3 - 550cc and it stands up on its own. I like three-wheelers. I own four motorbikes and a scooter, but my 'car' is a Can-Am Spyder F3-S. 1330cc inline triple. It's like a snowmobile on wheels, but it doesn't lean. Sticks to the road like glue and it's fast. I love it.
Thats I will take a look at that scooter 👍 I would love to try a Can-Am some time, think would be a very interesting ride/drive!

You are lucky. Here every 50cc plus motorbike needed a motorbike driving licence and not a CBT like one, but a normal A category licence.
It's still a bit thinner than a Honda Goldwing which is 922mm. So it is smaller than SOME 2 wheel motorbikes.
Yeah, nice looking bit of kit. Stability looks good, still wondering about snow & British winters...but mild weather cruises, beats any car transport eh!...innovative product is key to future success, so good luck 👍
It is a cool thing, they have done a great job with it 👍 Not ideal in snow, but then what vehicle is I guess!
Many thanks I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes it can seem a bit complicated at times!
Theory for motorbike was different for me at least 20 years ago. It covered motorbike specific concerns. I know because like your sons I passed my car test around the same time I did my bike test, and thought its pointless but then it was different.
My favourite bike
It’s not a bike it’s a tricycle . A glorified mobility scooter with a petrol engine .
@@maskedavenger2578 true, but we should be happy to see interesting designs. Does the world need another high powered weekend toy?
Not too sure why you have no foot brake, must be a local law!

Yes I am yet to ride the Piaggio, but it does have a few features that the Yamaha doesn't 👍 A reverse gear would be great for these style trikes.
Another level about this Tricity 😁

You bet. I just found out the motor (Rotax) is made in Australia but is owned by BMW MOTORCYCLES! One of my customers has about 5 or 6 BMWS in his (house’s) garage and his smaller bikes (wife’s) have parallel twins made by Rotax.

👍 they are very fun machines to ride. Haha must have been tricky to tip it over! Good effort 😉 Happens to the best of us.
I have same thing It's Piaggio mp3 250 IE but in Texas you need trike license!
👍 I have heard that the Piaggio is great as well! I think it is a good idea to need a trike license. These things are more similar to motorcycles than cars, and I think at least require some training. Silly law in the UK.
What is with all the second guessing on riding a tilting reverse electric trike?
I live like 30 minutes away from any town, and I need a viable option for no license. I have a nice little trike converted to e-bike, but I need something that will take me a bit further as all my major doctors are in the bigger city. And I hope this will fit the bill.
I recommend double checking the license laws, as they change! But yes a great option for it 👍
Looks expensive, how much.

What if one wheel go into a pothole does the other front wheel throw you sideways ?
A good point, but no. More stable than a two wheeled motorcycle
Good review. One small comment -850mm is less wide than most modern bikes......
The motorcycle license depends on the CC even on a scooter
Although quit interesting, that stand assist. I emagin emediatley been in a band and though technical fault it coming on and me been in a bit of a pickle.
I would really hope it does not come on mid ride!!
I want 1
In most other countries, like Australia were I live it would be still regarded as a motorbike needing a motorbike licence. Only 50cc or less qualify as scooters that can be ridden on car licence.
Yes the laws do vary quite a lot from country to country! I think it sensible to need a licence
Why does it have a side stand if it has three wheels? I can't see it tipping over
A great point! However I can tell you it needs it. When stationary if knocked it could fall over easily
A beautiful area of the country 👍 haha I will keep an eye out for you! Yes the laws around trikes seem to be a bit hard to understand. Am sure there are some good loopholes etc...
👍 Cheers, haha yes can imagine a ton on a 3 wheeler would be a bit nerve wracking!
I would say the acceleration is that much quicker, but once you are moving it’s definitely noticeable
@@redangrevival you probably ment isnt. What do you mean noticeble, like top speed? Thanks!
@@tifthetif6567 yup top speed
Incorrect to say that no licence is required. In Canada there is NO jurisdiction which allows operation of this vehicle (or any other 3 wheeled motorcycle) without either a motorcycle licence or a motorcycle licence with a 3WMC endorsement.
Laws change from country to country!
Sounds like a PLAN. ME TOO❤
wow why do you want to get on a bike again after this awful accident? I would be scared to death
Thanks man, your story made me smarten up and not get a bike. What kind of brain damage do you have to want to go back into the wheelchair? Yeesh.
@@MrBorderdown thank you for your comment. The truth is that you get bikers and then you get proper bikers. Also, I’m not a man.
The only time I would think of a trike than 2 wheel would be for the biker who just doesn’t want to drive a car because of the feel of the elements and stability , in winter ‘snow conditions
It is a good option for that, much more in the elements so to speak 👍
What size is engine i thought it was a 850 triple ?
Is it legal to take a passenger on the back with just a car licence.
To be honest I am not 100% sure! And of course various in different countries
I am heading back to the UK early next year and would consider getting one so my wife can use the car....just wondering on the passenger deal...
@@KM-ABZ Its a great tool. The rules are tricky to understand completely. I wouldn't want to give you the wrong information
Thanks, I'll look into it once home in Aberdeen...👍🏻🏴
My mate just got the 125 but the wheels are closer so they are classed as a scooter

Haha I like that quote!! O wow really! I test ride bikes from Branson motorcycles in Yeovil, and then ride around the Sherborne area! Maybe next time I will!
Thanks really glad you liked the video, an interesting bike/scooter this one 👍
@@redangrevival I know Bransons well, recently spent a small fortune there... good bike shop!
Yes indeed next time your at Sherbourne (Fortunes Fold) let me know and you can pop over for a coffee... would be good to see you!

@@redangrevival Hi Angus..slowly getting through the multitude of great video's!
If you like, the next time you test ride a bike out of Bransons and you get to the Murco garage as before..I could meet you there and we could have a coffee and chat!
Give me advance notice if you want to...always good to have a break!

I got a 300cc mp3 imma be honest but the acceleration is crazy for a trike
I have owned and ridden conventional trikes but have not tried one of these. I don't think I will be trading my bike in any time soon but it does look interesting.
I would personally always stick with a motorcycle! However if you want easy and practical then this Tricity is great 👍
Are you allowed to carry pillion, even on a car licence on this thanks
Tbh I am not 100% sure on that!
Sherborne looks lovely
It is a beautiful part of the country
just a thought, these may not be allowed in bus lanes and some parking places as it's not a two wheeler.
Most of these places and things say two wheeled motorcycles, because when they came up with the rules they didn't have these types of vehicles.
So you might end up with fines for riding in bus lanes and parking on motorcycle parking spaces.
That is a really good point! I think the rules and regulations around these 3 wheelers are somewhat hard to interpret and could do with an update 👍
@@flitsies True, sometimes motorcycle parking can be hard to find! I think motorcycle parking should be free in all cities
Ridden the 125 it's excellent and second hand 2 to 3k . Excellent in the rain.
imo car licence holders who've never ridden a scooter/mbike should do a CBT or similar. I own a 3 wheeler and my experience on bikes and Scooters helped me get the best out of them.
👍 I completely agree with you! I think this trike is so similar to a motorcycle/scooter that people should at least have done a CBT license.
Very tempting.....!
Very interesting. Any idea about mpg and conjestion charge zones? As a car driver and cyclist I recon I could cope with one of these.
Nice vid.
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 Yes average mpg is 72. I am not 100% sure on congestion charges, a very good point though!
Cool video.
Thanks 👍
When will they have a TT Race with them :)
Haha not too sure how big the fan base for that would be! Definitely a lot safer though!!

Is the handlebars wider than a bike, because that is the defining thing.
The handle bar width is similar to any other motorcycle 👍
Is it really good that some can circumvent having a licence and the training that would go with it?
I think some sort of training should be required
How does is it
Well done.
👍 thank you
Hi does the stand assist work on a slope ? Is it better to use stand assist with feet down for more stability ? I’m worried about stopping on hills
Yes feet down is definitely recommended as well. It does work on a slope yes
This may sound silly, but as a car owner who lives in a climate where we have a winter, is this thing any good in light snow? Any availability for snow tires?
Sorry i have not tried in snow conditions!
I think it’s a great concept for people like me who are too scared to ride a normal 2 wheeler. More convenient to park than a car
I highly recommend giving it a test ride, great fun 👍
Interesting especially the Stand Assist. The problem with motorcycles is fat, more gripping tyres on the back. You want to loose, the back end first when pushing the limits of a vehicle . 70 mph that's too fast in the UK surely. 7 mph grace perhaps.
I drove a van, which is limited to 60 mph on a dual carriageway.
It is really stable and you would have to be going silly speeds to loose the front end! 70mph on the dual carriageway, providing traffic is safe is a fine speed
