This is the only video I've seen so far that shows just how dark it got that day. I was here in town when it happened. I've lived in Big Spring my entire life and I've never seen the sun disappear like that. Thanks for posting your video to you tube.
I was staying in a motel. Was walking to 7-11 for a drink. Decided to turn back because of the monstrous size. Stayed outside as it hit. It was shockingly gentle. God is not a bad guy. We all are.
I was living in El Paso, Texas, for a number of months back in the summer of '92. We saw a dust storm in the distance in Mexico for several hours during the day. A couple of us went to a concert in the Chamizal, a park alongside the border, then it hit. It wasn't as thick as the one in this video, but the wind blew hard and grit was everywhere in the air. People had small charcoal grills going and sparks flew up as they grabbed the blankets they had been sitting on plus their belongings and ran for their cars to escape. Very interesting experience.
I was in one of those in Seminole, TX in 2010 or 2011. I had a flat on the north side of town and was waiting for the tire guy that was coming from Hobbs, NM. He didn't come until the storm had passed. 5 locals stopped to check on me as the storm approached. Nicest people I've met in my 61 years. If I could talk my wife into it, I'd move out there.
I was fifteen miles north of Big Spring when that bad boy hit. I was in a trailer and just knew that we were going to be blown of of the earth or killed. That was an experience for the books!
First time I saw one of these was when I was a kid in Phoenix Arizona. We were stopping at a target and way in the distance, was a giant wall of dust. I kept expecting the mummy's face to appear

I wonder if it would've been wise for the national weather service to issue. A dust storm warning .
Thank you very much for this perfect video

I CAN REMEMBER SOMETHING LIKE THAT BACK IN THE SUMMER OF 1970!!!
Is earth just like mars, mars has too many dust storms, nice job👍
My great grandma used to tell stories of these in the 30's in NW Oklahoma that would last for several days and leave 3-4 foot sand drifts.
Wow, it's amazing how dark it gets. I'm working on a film about dust storms. Is there any chance we could get permission to use your footage in it?
I was stuck in this
I remember that. It got so dark. Never seen nothing like it.
