    I'm a 78 year old white male and have ridden the public transit in LA many times over the years. I have never been left standing if the is a black man or women seated near me! They have always offered their seat to me. I wish I could say the same for the white men and women.

      Agreed. My mother said people who offered their seat on the London underground were for the most part nonwhite. This video shouldn't exist; it should be normal human behaviour.

    It's ridiculous that younger people do not usually have respect for the elderly and women. I was on a bus in KC and an elderly man got on and no one would get up for him. I would have but I had just had recent surgery on my knee. In this case, I kind of agreed with the other passengers because he was really belligerent to everyone from the time he got on until I got off.

    The title of this video states that the girl is black and implies by omission that the elderly man is not black. Why does it matter what color they are? All children, regardless of their ethnicity, should be brought up to respect their elders. I also believe that most parents already teach their child to be respectful.

    • @MsMarple
      @MsMarple Месяц назад

      Biases are deeply inbred in our American society. Yet, I believe that the point could not be made without the identifiers. Tell me: how many youths, let alone black youths (often ALSO taught to hate and fear whites) would give up their seat for the elderly, let alone a white man?! (You can’t fool me cuz I grew up in the inner city and I’ve seen a lot on both sides. You seem confused between what is and what it SHOULD be. I think the girl is the unqualified hero here, not just because she has the humility and dignity to give up her seat in a Christlike fashion, but because she turned the opportunity into life “gold”. Better than bitter cynicism and go-nowhere hate and distrust any day.
