+Seraphin C I have white bed sheets. If I happen to have those bed sheets there, and have a really painful period, I'm likely too lazy to change them. So yeah, it happens.
Jennifer Mercer Just because you ingest iron supplements doesn't mean that your body can absorb them. If you're not on an iron rich diet try switching to liver and broccoli. The body can absorb nutrients more easily if they're complexed with protein and fatty acids.
Synnerization oh ok !! Well I hate certain types of meat it makes me sick I have Irratable bowel syndrome. But I am eating More protein enriched foods and greens to help my nutrient intake :)
I see what you did there. And yeah I agree. I get my period and I'm just wasting all these nutrients luke WHY BODY I COULD USE THESE NUTRIENTS AND YOU JUST THROW THEM AWAY
@@_mimir The very few times I have gotten a free pad or tampon from a bathroom or a health clinic (or school nurse) have been a lot of padding and almost no absorption or the tampon was too thin. I tend to get heavy periods the first 2 days so I use the Always brands meant to absorb discharge very quickly.
Alexis Jankowski but not every women have period , fruitarian raw vegan and women who a alkaline diet lose their period but can still have children.... the only reason we have period is because of our standar american diet
Someone reprogramme our DNA so we can spend less money on tampons and pads, send less rubbish to landfill becuase of tampon and pads, spend less money and send less rubbish to landfill because of ruined sheets and underwear because of failed tampons and pads, save more water from having to wash sheets and underwear, spend less money on sheets and underwears, save interpersonal relationships that are destroyed because of PMS and save 50% of our population from the agony that is period
i've always thought about this. periods just make no sense at all and seem like they'd be a huge evolutionary disadvantage. like just think about it, leaving behind a trail of smelly blood everywhere you go seems like it would just attract predators. plus, humans are social creatures, so its not just attracting predators to the one menstruating, it would attract them to an entire family. and if women's periods really do sync up, it would make all of it even worse. honestly how the hell did humans survive with this trait???
I don't know how we evolved with this trait. One interesting thing to note is that it appears to have been around for 5 million or so years (based on the fact that chimps also get it), so we had to find ways of surviving in the jungle or the savanna or where-ever our ancestors were 5 million years ago, not just the past 500,000 or so years as humans.
+Dia's Den Yup. I think that pads DEFINITELY should be free. Tampons could be left out as long as there is an option. I use both, but pads are way better when you're already a bloody mess, or can't change as often as a tampon requires, or are simply going to sleep. Tampons are pretty great for absorbing a lot of the period before gravity takes effect, however, so I often will use it around the middle of my period and they seem to make it somewhat shorter. But I'm also currently on birth control so who knows.
+karamei I agree and not everyone CAN use tampons. Especially when I was a virgin I could NOT get those things up there, it was painful to try. So I agree with you.
BlinkinFirefly I'm really sorry to hear that. I know sometimes a hymen can be too large and cause those issues, though usually that isn't supposed to be the case. Sometimes women have to get their hymen operated on due to issues, but before anyone gets mistaken - hymens are not a covering, otherwise the period wouldn't be capable of even coming out. (So many virginity misconceptions out there...) Tampons worked for me as a virgin, but I generally preferred pads because they were more trustworthy, especially during school days.
+TheJaredtheJaredlong yeah but we have define answers to many questions. Why do woman lactate? Why people sweat? We know this shit.there might be additional reasons but we know the main reasons.
+HeadHusky The evidence is inconclusive, so no they don't know the answer, but sometimes it's nice to be reminded science hasn't answered everything yet.
+Vlad Rudeychuk this is common question people have about periods. and this video is a way of telling those who ask that we simply don't know. how is that a bad thing?
Step one: raise an interesting question Step two: make a video dancing around that question only to come to the conclusion at the end that "we don't really know" Step three: profit
Yeah, they should independently research every question and break ground every day! They bring you up to speed on the scientific community's perspective. That's what they're meant to do. Quit whinging.
Yes, tampons should be free in public bathrooms, just like toilet paper. They will probably be low quality (except in upscale restrooms), but it is better than nothing.
Humans of the future: Wow, how dumb are they for going through all that pain?! I'm so glad we don't do that nowadays! Hahaha. Our Ghosts: Swearing like lunatics.
We can reduce menstruation symptoms by using hormone pills but I think completely stopping menstruation would (unfortunately) be bad for a woman since the bloody stuff that normally comes out will probably keep growing.
common misconception! it doesn't keep on growing, it doesn't develop at all due to the hormonal levels being maintained at the point where the body thinks 'no endometrial lining yet'. i do this myself. i think it's a bit sad that so many women don't realise they don't have to have a period every month if they're on the pill; i reckon it's so deeply ingrained in our society that it barely occurs to anyone. and the whole argument of 'i need a period to tell me i'm not pregnant!' is bullshit, since the periods you have while on the pill aren't even periods, they're withdrawal bleeds. you can have a withdrawal bleed and still be pregnant. something else i found annoying was that before i started taking the pills back to back, i asked my doctor if it was safe just to make sure and she said 'wait until you're older'. excuse me, what does age have to do with this? i'm 17 and my uterus is going to be the same in 10 years.
Kay Kay sorry, i take monophasic pills, meaning all my pills have the same dosage of hormones. of course, if you take one with sugar pills, you'd skip those.
pretty sure having period is detrimental to that individual's survival as well, if we had it back when humans were hunting and gathering, the smell of blood will undoubtedly attract predators. seriously, why did we have on the first place?
+ZeSandvich That would be true if humans weren't the most dangerous pack predators on the planet, you'd be surprised just how effective a rock or pointy stick is especially when in a group, it's likely just a vestigial trait, like the appendix or the muscles able to wiggle ears, overall it wasn't a make or break for survival so it stayed.
+ZeSandvich The efficiency and lower risk of necrotizing infection (vs reabsorption) is probably less of a risk than being caught alone by a predator large enough to cause a human serious harm.
Given that chimpanzees also have them, that means we've been having them for at least 5 million years, long before we were human as we understand the concept today. So that makes the fact that the process survived in the face of 5 million years plus of evolution even more remarkable.
I'm not if true but something like that or do not why I had during my vegan phase, I was ovulating, and everything looked good according to my doctor, but I had not have blood in 4 to 6 months, I had more blood when I eat egg or other meat. But I had crappy blood flow since I had birth control pills and stopped after year of using it. So may be related also. Dunno. But vegans says that they reabsorb it, because there are not so many toxins. Good to research that topic further!
+Erika Cloverleaf As a non-scientist male, I feel that vegans are wrong on that point. I'm pretty sure the human body will keep doing what it is supposed to irrelevant of diet.
sion8 I understand it, but it was something that happened to me normaly, and I didn’t know if it was malnutrition or something else. As there is not enough studies how your diet can affect your hormones or menstruation cycle, actualy there is know that with malnutrition you loose it as observed in anorexic patients. :)
+Erika Cloverleaf Yeah, I have also heard that a woman that is anemic cannot menstruate, it also seems very obese women can't also menstruate. However, I feel that's just the body (in the case of extreme weight loss) trying to conserve as many nutrients as possible and since reproduction isn't exactly necessary for the well being of an individual, it isn't a priority for the moment to go through the cycle. However, I have no clue why it would stop a very big lady from going through her cycle, it could probably be disruption of normal hormone development but that's just the first thing that comes to my head. However since humans aren't herbivores, having a vegan diet (with or without supplements) may also mess with the body's ability to make all the regular proteins and other biomass needed to have a healthy life, however that is just my speculation in the matter. Nutrition unfortunately isn't a well understood science because it isn't as funded as most people think and most of time most studies haven't been repeat it elsewhere to either prove or disprove the original study.
@@erikacloverleaf8829 Their periods might have stopped because of low body fat, women need a certain amount of fat to be fertile and have normal periods
Since condoms (not technically necessary) are given away for free, pads and tampons should similarly be available for free. Personally, I think that since we can't help having periods without some sort of intervening method, pads and tampons should be free. Or at least pads. A couple can abstain from intercourse, but a period's gonna happen whether you want it or not (more likely the latter). I've had many instances in life where, due to my anemia, my period caught me completely offguard and caused me to bleed heavily (I think my body hates me because normally it doesn't start that way) while ON THE ROAD during a trip or field trip and having to resort to shoving a giant wad of paper towels in my underwear just to make it home. Thankfully jeans help prevent a lot of bloodstains. I remember the field trip time, I rushed to the bathroom to the pad dispenser (which I'd never used before or since), thankfully had money on me, and got my pad - a wad of a strip with no wings even. Worst pad I've ever worn, but a godsend at that moment nonetheless. There are few things more personally stressful than feeling out of control over your own body. And my period loves trips.
Allison Koester Pretty much any health clinic in the US, especially at colleges. I'm sure Planned Parenthood does this as well (they do a lot of things on a sliding scale of income though!). Dunno about other countries but I was given a free condom in a "welcome to college" goodie bag and I wasn't even sexually active at that time. So... the answer is a long time and pretty much everywhere. Public schools probably have them too but I was forced to go to horrid private religious crap.
+karamei But are condoms given out for free in the same places where women are wanting/needing tampons... like restaurants, shopping places, clothing stores, malls, movie theaters, gas stations, or really any public place you can think of??? I just can't believe it when people are claiming condoms are given freely...and you aren't the first person to say this. And nothing is for free...providing tampons will increase costs and that business will just pass that expense on to customers. Everybody pays then. And some customers, as we all know, tend to take more than what they need at the moment. Something else, not all customers use tampons. Also, if tampons are provided, what's next to be asked for, baby diapers and wipes? Be responsible for yourself. I have to be. Several other women are. Stop putting the responsibility for yourself on other people. Life has its inconveniences and part of growing up is YOU learning how to deal with them...not throwing the responsibility somewhere else, or you won't learn anything, you won't advance in life or mature into the best woman you know you're capable of being. This tampon issue is just one of those things to learn from. Peace be with you...
+Joe C Dunno if this was aimed at me, but I'm on birth control, thanks. I am glad for free condoms and have not once said they should not be provided or that they are only for men's protection (in fact, I said in some comment that many women DO buy condoms). You speak of sand; maybe you should remove it from your ears - or in this case, eyes. Also as most logical people know, sex and impregnation can still occur with closed legs. Hooray for position variety. Get less mad and more logical please. edit: Also I have no idea what this has to do with my sex life or why you would tell me to "close my legs." I mean, that doesn't keep the period in, you know that, right?
Yes tampons should be free in restrooms. Toilet paper is, why can't tampons be. What's more you can control urge to go to toilet but you can't control your period . If men had periods I'm sure tampons would be free too
+Persimmon If we follow your reasoning, people should also always carry toilet paper with them, because they should be responsible.. I don't get the difference you make between toilet paper and tampons.
+Persimmon For the gender equality thing, well we can't prove if there would be or not if men had periods, but we can think about it. It's not about complaining, it's about thinking about hidden gender inequalities, which we can't see at first sight because we are used to the situation. And on the period subject, we can ask ourselves a lot of these questions. I get that tampons (or pads) are much more expensive and less used than toilet paper, but it's still a first necessity product, essential for hygiene. I also recognize that people haven't been convinced to supply that, but we are talking about a change that could possibly be made, so something people are not used to. And I don't think we should get all our tampons/pads in public bathrooms, because it would be crappy quality anyway, but I think it would be common sens to have some in the bathroom for when we forget. Adult doesn't mean superhuman, everyone forget those things sometimes, or you don't even always carry a bag with you, and it wouldn't really be a big deal to have some tampons in the bathrooms.
Give menstrual cups a try. I bought mine for 8 bucks only, it is soft and comfortable and you dont have any toxic shock risk. And I agree, pads are a bit disgusting
I understand the stereotype about men not understanding menstruation but I am very interested in learning about it. Even as a gay man who will most likely never be affected by this I think it's still important to know anything and everything you can.
actually that's pretty awesome of you. it's always been rather irritating that guys freak out and act weird when the subject is so much as mentioned so women almost need to keep it secret from men. just recently i had a guy at work mention that i didn't look well and asked if i just woke up not feeling well. so i said "no, i woke up and started my period" and he just froze up and said "oh....okay" stood there for a few seconds and decided to leave. and let my point out that i wasn't cranky and i didn't say this in a cranky way. it just was what it was. once i had to run home to grab some pads because i started early at work and didn't have anything with me(none of my female coworkers had anything either.). the only manager there was a guy and he freaked out when i asked. i tried to make it as not awkward as possible but he made it very awkward when he cut me off, stepped away, waved me away, and said "i don't want to know, just go." it was humiliating and rude. nothing like being treated like you have a contagious disease when you're on your period.
Give every teenage girl a free menstrual cup! That way they can start using it when they get their periods, save a HUGE amount of money (no need to buy so many tampons or pads every month) and there is so much less plastic waste.
ELISA STRANGEHUMANBEING I thought the same thing, but a lot of girls do it and they say they can hardly feel it since its flexible. btw i don't use them because i am unable to atm. but i would certainly try for the benefits
***** At least you can still use cloth pads to make a healthy choice for your body and environment! Unless you're in a place where you can't wash them, which I would understand.
+Rebecca Holoiday As a male, I could easily get access to discounted if not free condoms. Women have to pay full price, with tax, even though tampons or pads are equally if not more important than condoms. Removing sales tax isn't a bad idea. I used to argue that myself awhile back, though obviously I've stopped keeping up with these things so idk what's going on anymore. I hope HS offers them now (they didn't when I was around). thankee fer the interesting feedback
+Christopher Akers I not a woman so I don't know exactly what I'm talking about here but bear with me. If the government made Tampons free you wouldn't have the variety the free market provides. So the ultimate question is, is there a difference in tampons, like are some brands better then others? If the government is to control the Tampon industry I highly doubt it would produce multiple types of tampons, they'd like make one that'd work for the most amount of people at the cheapest price. Or are you suggesting that girls/women be able to buy tampons from the market then get refunded from the government if they mail in the receipt?
+Gorilla Lad I'm not saying all tampons should be free what I'm saying is say you go to the restroom in a restaurant or store and you start your period and don't have any tampons on you you should be able to get on at that place till you can buy them I said nothing about the government taking over the tampon industry that's stupid
Personally, I would just use the ones in stores that are "free" as backups. The tampons that I keep at home would be my main supply while the ones kept in public bathrooms would be used in an emergency if I forgot to bring one with me. It's like how the toilet paper that most people keep in their personal bathrooms is of higher quality than public bathrooms.
Tommy Was Homophobic so what? They would only do it if they needed them, and would you like to deprive someone of a necessary sanitation product? That’s like saying you can have a sample lotion in a store because someone could steal some lotion.
Tommy Was Homophobic the toilet paper is free and people don't steal that. What about soap? people don't steal soap in public bathrooms. no one would steal pads because no one is like that. the quality of the pads and/or tampons available for free would be of a bad quality (just like the toilet paper) therefore not worth staling.
The worst day of my life was when I got my first period. I wish I could have bypass puberty because I never want children, marriage or dating. It is a curse. I am looking forward to menopause. No more of such garbage.

Free tampons? Did you know that not every woman tolerates them? Perhaps tampons AND pads... And I suggest biodegradable pads and tampons. Cotton and plastic don't degrade well in nature. And I have found used pads even in the most wild and remote areas.
Qinglin888 I don't know... cups hold inside something the body wants out and pads and tampons, at least, absorb it. There might be pros and cons but cups don't need to be free. They are already cheap and they are not disposable.
+Pașca Alexandru Yeah, the cup holds it in for a while (like max. 12 hours), and you then pour it out and wash. How is that in any way different from what a tampon or pad does? In fact, they don't have the horrible smell etc. that you get with pads. And you use it again and again for many years, so it becomes way less expensive than tampons in the long run despite the high initial cost.
+Pașca Alexandru Holding is better than absorbing, so cups are better than tampons. As for pads, they are probably safer in theory, but all the chemicals put in them make them less safe than cups. Cloth pads are the safest.
+Vasileski88 Cure? It's not a disease, it doesn't need to be cured. Perhaps there is a way to limit its frequency, though (like with new kinds of contraception).
+WisMicYal11 Yeah but it does have unwanted side effects that people would like to get rid of. Not to mention, death isn't a disease but some people are talking about curing death too. What I meant was, it would be great if women didn't have to menstruate, lose blood, get cramps etc. Wouldn't it?
Brian M it not nature , in fact if women eat what nature wanted them to eat women woudn't have period , look up fruitarian women , women who eat alkaline diet , raw vegan (low fat) ... all of them don't have period but still can have children .... period is a result of bad diet that all...
When I was in 4th grade I learned about periods and the health teacher said we could write down any question we wanted and put it in a box. Since we were 4th graders and way more interested in cute animals than any of this, me and my friends all asked whether cats and dogs and other animals get periods. I know that question was put in the box numerous times but the teacher never addressed it or even mentioned it! It was frustrating because we were so curious but too uncomfortable to ask directly. This is the informative, satisfying response I've always wanted to hear. Thank you so much!
+Jokanaan There was a huge error in this video though so please remember in the future: it is not at all true that "every single woman" has a period every month. Women who are post menopausal, transgender, on birth control that prevents periods, have had a hysterectomy, or who don't have a period for other medical reasons constitute a large percentage of women.
+Jokanaan I wouldn't include women on birth control or who've had a hysterectomy on this list, because they did have periods but chose to get rid of them. Post menopausal women have had periods as well, they just finished them. I don't think any of those people would be offended by saying its all women, because they know that they chose to not be part of that. As for transgender women, this video is about biology so it's talking about biological women.
Breanna May What a frivolous, convoluted argument. Some women do not have periods. Period. Doesn't matter why; it's just reality. Why would you go to the extent of saying "every single woman" when it's shorter to just say "women"? Why use extra time and space to make your statement *less* truthful and accurate? It's not about being offended; it's about accuracy. You seem to be the one offended.
+Jokanaan Why would I be offended? Making inaccurate assumptions doesn't make you seem smarter. Saying "all women" is for emphasis, not accuracy. It was hyperbole, not a statistic.
So the video is called *Why most animals don't have periods* and what we got is *No one knows why HUMAN female have menstruation or knows exactly how it works* Let me rename this video for you... *Why do human female have menstruation? Don't find the answer here! But find out a bit about what we think we know about it and let us explain to you how we found out no real research on the subject was made while we speculate about the reason of human menstruation.*
BudgieEntertainment it’s in another language. I get your point, but I feel like English speakers are slightly spoiled (and yes, I know I’m including myself in that). In Europe, most people speak multiple languages. But us Americans, we only speak English (the majority) fluently and expect the rest of the world to speak perfect english for us. That’s just my opinion though, not based on facts just general observations.
elines acevedo I think you underestimate peoples motivation for money these days regardless of gender. I guarantee If you were to market a cure, male or female for one of the number one most desired female cures, I am pretty sure you'd stand to make quite a profit. I don't think gender or motivation have anything to do with it. Just the simple fact scientists don't know enough, but patience all good things come to those who wait.
Synchronized periods are a real thing, at least in my family. My mother, myself, my cousin, and my godsister would all sync when we lived together for an extended period of time.
Ok you dumb bitch. Go spend hundreds of thousands of dollars getting your own tampon/pad company started and then give all of your products away for free. You're literally demanding somebody do work for you for free. That's slavery you idiot lol. You females demand so much from society yet contribute very little if any at all. You're pathetic.
lesrach3: in the old days, feminists didn't call men like you "misogynists". We called you male fucking chauvinist pigs. You are so full of shit it is oozing out of your mouth.
something else that's interesting is that we're one of the few species that require a helping hand from another human to give birth properly. i think it's due to the fact that we need a strong pelvis to walk and so we cant bend forward enough to help out the baby. don't quote me its been a while since i read this.
I've encountered the notion that eggs are chicken abortions and my reaction was, "No. They're chicken periods. Every egg that a hen lays that has never been fertilized is that chicken effectively having its period."
I think the most likely theory, which was not mentioned, is that human egg cells are incredibly aggressive and that without the ability to jettison the whole show, it would be too *easy* to get pregnant and a lot of bad pregnancies would go ahead that should have been spontaneously aborted. Basically, the endometrium is the least friendly place in the body for an egg to set up shop, but if it can make it there, it is likely a keeper.
Tampons should be more affordable. It's ridiculous how much companies charge for a product made out of paper and plastic. They just know that women will pay it so they charge it so high.
True actually - never thought of that, but the fact that we pay for it and that it's expensive is simply a natural consequence of economics... when you desperately need something, they will charge you for it. It's like why is food so expensive in gas stations and at airports? Because on a long journey you get hungry and if there's nothing else, you're prepared to pay a lot more for way shittier food than you normally would.
I've always wondered why humans or any animals has periods. It seems like such a huge evolutionary disadvantage. It just seems like leaving a trail of smelly blood everywhere you go for days would just be an invitation for predators to have you for dinner. I don't get how humans have survived with a trait like this.
It's simple really, the cells in the uterus are programed to shed when no pregnancy occurred simply because it was evolutionary favorable for the cells to assume that there was something wrong with the lining that prevented the pregnancy. That's why it would be undesirable to just maintain the lining forever sins that would not be as efficient at correcting the defect that prevented the pregnancy. Now you are probably thinking then why just not absorb the lining as that is the more resource saving option. Well this is also a simple case of evolutionary favourability. As humans evolved, scarcity of resources became less of a concern and our trait shifted from being as energy efficient as possible to be as reproductively efficient as possible. This means you want to be able regenerate a new lining as fast as possible to be able to get pregnant again. In this case the time for the two different methods are more important which means that the time absorbing the lining is essentially waisted. And that is my hypothesis... I'm of to my laboratory to do science, see you all when i get my nobel prize. Mohahaha *Evil Scientist laugh*
Kay Kay "A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of *limited evidence* as a starting point for further investigation." She has zero evidence, and she has done no research. You still need evidence to make a hypothesis, as your copied and pasted definition shows. She's not even in the second step of the scientific method.
Kay Kay What are you blabbering on about? Nobody is questioning the existence of menstruation. That "prior knowledge and observation" you are talking about is based off research done to form the hypothesis - that's the evidence that was mentioned in your previous definition, and that's also the evidence I'm talking about. Research doesn't mean just simply reading books, and searching through some online databases - it can also involve going out in the field, or a lab, to find the info needed to help build your hypothesis. You also need this information if you want to start experimenting, and testing to see if your hypothesis is true. The OP of this thread doesn't even mention such evidence, or observations, that show why they made their "hypothesis". I'm not going to waste anymore of my time with this discussion, so let me give you some links that describe each step of the scientific method in detail: www(dot)livescience(dot)com/20896-science-scientific-method(dot)html explorable(dot)com/what-is-the-scientific-method www(dot)colby(dot)edu/biology/BI17x/expt_method.html
I bet 1.you are a male and has never experienced the debilitating painful effects of a period. It is not useful, it is not good, it is not favourability.
I got my period when I was 12 and its been torture ever since. I am 47 now and still dealing with it every month. I have always thought periods were stupid and there must be a better way. And now I find out that there is a better way it’s just our species evolved stupidly and is too dumb to choose the better way. Mother Nature must be an idiot to evolve us this way.
The physical pain and emotional trauma of my period is sometimes enough for me to want a hysterectomy! It's so frustrating because I know it's all for nothing, I'll probably never have kids.
#FREETHETAMPON lol But honestly the products necessary just to manage your monthly flow is OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE. Bless the places that have free condoms. Just add some more hygienic supplies into that and BAM! More reasonable access.
Maybe it has something to do with walking upright? As annoying as it is, I like to think it expands my empathy through human suffering, both physically and emotionally.
There's another side to this, which is that the inconvenience of menstruation may represent a more significant evolutionary pressure for less social animals. Primates tend to stick together, affording greater security for all within the band/troop. Within that context, menstruation may very well be less likely to result in death (through predation, if nothing else), and it may also strengthen social bonds, by eliciting sympathy from others. Over a few hundred thousand generations, it wouldn't take much of an advantage to result in monthly shedding of a particular tissue.
:/ I wish my school would fill the tampon machine's, I don't give a fuck if I have to pay for them I just want them to be closer than the nurses office
When I had intense anxiety or depression I didn’t have period for half a year but when I let all my frustrations out to my enemy that damn period came back again . That experience made me think well maybe stress is good to get rid of annoying periods.
It is risky to have tampons be provided for free in public restrooms, unless they are from safe, clean dispensers. You know, hygiene concerns. The quality of the materials that make these tampons are crucial, as well as their method of storage and storage temperature. I think a more burning issue is the size of women's restrooms, which really ought to be bigger, because of their overall larger demographic size as compared to men. The queues at women's restrooms are ridiculously long, by my standards. Though I am a guy, I cannot help but feel that something needs to be done to help them clear the restroom as fast as possible.
+Lorie Love You judge too quickly and assume too readily. Of course I know tampons come sealed. My point is that the dispenser that dispenses the packets of tampons have to be secured, and not allow internal access for them to be tampered with or replaced. It is a valid point and concern. Even the temperature and humidity of the restroom plays a part, if their storage unit (dispenser) is compromised, and not up to standard. Some careful ladies may even opt not to use such free tampons, opting for a safer approach of using the ones they bought instead.
***** It really depends on the grade of the tampons, as said earlier, the quality of its make. Degradation of its material is a possibility, which is why there is also an expiry date on the packaging. When it is provided free of charge, it has to be safe and of a certain acceptable standard. You don't know me personally either, yet you attack me based on your perception and assumption of me that is flawed. The only reason why I am sharing my thoughts and concerns in the video comments is for everyone to read them, think through the points, consider the options and give their inputs that is constructive in helping women everywhere, around the world. If slamming my commentary and me is the only thing you can do here, so be it, but they are irrelevant, and do not serve to help anyone at all, which is unfortunate. Just basing your rebuttals on one's experience is not enough, it is never enough, and does not serve as a good representation for all. I really don't mean to slam you, but we all have to think objectively about things. I have not even touched on the topic of potential abuse from individuals who would freely help themselves to all the free tampons that they harvest from such dispensers - this is also a valid concern, so what are we going to do about it? It is meaningful and constructive commentary and discussions that take place in the video comments that adds value to the collective experience of the audience watching the show, it gets everybody thinking, and that is good. If you think I am for my own profit, I'm not. I'm for the profit of all, which is why I share. If not, I would not have shared at all. I do not blame you for assuming the worse of me, because you do not know me, and likewise, I do not know you, so I will let this slide. If you continue airing incendiary comments here, like a keyboard warrior, then it just goes to show how inconsiderate you are to everyone watching the show and reading the comments in hopes of gaining greater insight and ideas. The Internet and RUclips is for everyone, not just you. You can express as much as you want in them, nobody is stopping you from doing so, but at the end of the day, are your inputs self-serving or does everyone stand to benefit from everybody's inputs? You decide.
***** You said that it is "combustible", yet I never mentioned that word. I said that it can degrade over time, items break down over time. Seriously, Lorie? Can you read?
***** You really have to mind your language, and I never said anything about it being a fire risk. Your attitude is wrong from the start, so just stop embarrassing yourself.
well, seen as tampon, pads, cups (ect) are a luxury ill just have to go without them and bleed everywhere. would you guys like that? i mean, youll have some lovely stains there. but seen as not everyone can afford tampons which cost £3 for 16 at cheapest, we might just go without
What WOULD be wrong with complimentary tampons in restrooms? NOTHING at all. I am reminded of the Elaine scene in the bathroom with the flinty voiced woman in the other stall, and there's no TP, and she won't share. So, this is a great idea, complimentary tampons offered by restaurants, stores, and other locations.
+Bryan Thalhammer You can't leave them out for honor system use because someone will walk off with them, and it's a little awkward having your server offer you one when the kids are around. "Mommy, can I have a straw, too?!!"
If condoms are free I don't see why a woman has to pay around 6 to 10 dollars for sanitary products. So yes, tampons should be free because a period is a natural human bodily function just like peeing or pooping.
+Dogeasaurus Rex it would still be paid for by the government if they are supplied in public toilets. It would be the same as toilet paper since you don't have to pay for that.
Its because of eating garbage. Even domesticated dogs who eat garbage also have periods. Menstration is not so harsh if you eat clean. You will stop bleeding so bad.
+arv synth There were several findings, and they shared them. The very fact that we have been studying this for millenia, and still don't have indisputable evidence of why humans menstruate is extremely interesting. Well, it is for those of us who enjoy science and knowledge.
My period is regularly irregular. It skips every two months or so, then I get a fairly heavy cycle, then the blessed break. I know most people will tell me that my hormones are off kilter and that I should go to the doctor, but... FF. If I don't have to deal with it every single month, I'm good with it. :D
+Misting Wolf Yeah but if your hormones or messing up you might end up worse off later. My friend had the same thing and now she has frequent heat flashes. Doc says it's the hormones. :P
movement2contact There's a version that says that before Eve, there was another woman called Lilith. Lilith left the Eden because she wanted to be on top during sex and Adam didn't let her. After she left, Adam felt lonely and asked to God for a new companion. The rest keeps the same. The point is that if Adam had let Lilith to go on top Eve wouldn't have existed and all of this would have been avoided. All our problems are because 1 woman didn't get pleased!
So you failed to answer the question you titled this video about. You gave us a lot of information on what a period is, what other animals other then humans have periods and how rare periods are in nature. But you didn't answer the question. You seem to not even know. So why would I want to click on another video about synchronized periods? Using this video as a yardstick, I won't learn anything from that video as well.
I was a bit disappointed that all the talk on humans ended with "there is no answer," but the video did answer it's title question which was about animals and not humans. So, good job. [thumbs up]
Pads and tampons should definitely be free in public toilets, just like toilet paper is. They are a necessity and you can easily forget to carry a pad with you everywhere or your period might come unexpectedly.
tampons and sanitary towels should be free in restrooms as you never know when your period will start. I wear sanitary towels all the time as I get no sign from my body when mine will start and mine are not monthly but approximately mine are once every three months so I always worry about being caught short when my period does happen
I really like Sapna's presenting style. Very easy to watch, listen to, and comprehend without any fake bubbliness. And, yes, I think tampons and pads should be free for all menstruating humans.
Should Tampons be free in public restrooms? I think that could be a problem since some jackasses would steal them, and that would be much easier than stealing Toilet paper.
Tampons being free at restrooms should be up to the business. Forcing businesses to offer any service for free hurts struggling businesses. We want to help struggling businesses get past the hard times rather than stifle them. I think more interesting is the genetic reason why this shedding occurs and if we could make medicine which would tell those cells not to shed.
Sure Europe charges to use the restroom. You are acting like its crazy to do that. But of course companies can decide. Many companies would offer it on their own free will because they want a good customer experience but maybe a small cafe that is having hard times would reduce some of their extra services and focus on their core product.
+Sean Pannella There are plenty of US stores that don't allow anyone but paying customers to use the restroom. Some places don't even have public restrooms. A public restroom is a convenience not a right.
+Torie mine comes 30-45 days, no consistency. I can start getting cramps as early as two weeks before it starts - and yet you never know exactly when it will come. I can't plan anything around my period because I never know when it will come - ever. the range is two weeks! they're also very painful and more often then not a sign of a hormonal disbalance. For birth control, whether you want to get pregnant or not, it's hard to plan or avoid pregnancy as you don't know exactly when you're ovulating.
Thats true id hate to not to be able to plan stuff around my period, Im pretty fortunate to have my period on a regular basis and not having to deal with really bad cramps I get where you are coming from but periods are an uncomfortable thing to deal with and when i'm on it i feel disgusting i just want to feel comfortable on my birthday and not have to deal with that extra load of feeling shit on my day haha but yeah completely understand where your coming from
Perhaps the lining is absorbed to a point, but the self cleaning uterus retracts its life support to the nutrient rich exterior layer, which becomes mucusy and condenses in a manner that the body is unable to readily reabsorb. The uterus tissue cuts off blood supply, effectively killing to tissue, expelling it thru the cervix into the self cleaning vagina. We can use the nose or lungs as an example where mucus is used as a vehicle to expel things the body will not tolerate.
I think free tampons/pads would be amazing! The free toilet paper they provide in public restrooms is often so cheap, most wouldn’t buy it for personal use at home....as I’m sure would be the same for the tampons/pads. Or at least they should add a free product to those little dispensers for women who may be having an emergency and don’t have any change on them (a lot of those dispensers have multiple options for women to choose from depending on where you are and the prices can vary depending on the product.)
+SuperAtheist Well, free tampons wouldn't be costing the tax payers unless its in a government building. Most likely it would be required for the restroom to legally be a restroom for private companies (restaurants, offices, etc)
Cheapest most simple solution to "free tapon law" Keep dispensers just exactly like they are BUT a law saying that every establishment with a public restroom HAS to provide a free token FOR CUSTOMERS if asked ....this will keep the abuse way down ....I feel like most would not bother asking unless it were really needed .....end of problem. Kind of like gas stations with coin operated air stations where it costs a dollar fifty to put air in your tires....but it is a real safety issue so they make a law they HAVE to allow paying customers free access to air ...meaning after you fill up with fuel you just ask "turn on the air for me?" and they do ....never had a station refuse me yet unless the machine was broken......which is rare At the unmanned rest stops? Maybe have a machine that dispenses tokens ...the idea is you would have to go through some little time consuming process to get a token to use in the dispenser. Something that takes a minute or two ....say you have to push a button and then push it again within 2 seconds when a light flashes ....push too early or too late and it resets and you have to start over ...just enough of a pain in the ass that no one but someone that really needs a token would bother ....as opposed to being able to simply empty a dispenser to have free tampons at home ...which is what people WOULD do....you know they would! Then its worse because there is NONE there....It's why there is no towel dispensers more and more ....and toilet paper is locked into dispensers and does not unwind quickly ...if it were just regular rolls people would take em all....
Ya know how we tell kids little wounds are "boo boos"? I guess our first son put two and two together or mom answered his question that way that she would have "boo boos" So then it was like "run get mommy a boo boo stick out of the other bathroom ....and that is what they were ever after called in our household "boo boo sticks"
Tampons can not be free because someone has to pay for them. They must be manufactured, packaged & shipped. And that just means everyone will have to pay a tax in order to pay for those tampons. And long after your period has stopped, you will still have to pay the tampon tax until you stop working.
+Kabuki Jo But the price will be redistributed and amount to a minuscule portion. In any case, tampons are not the cheapest, cleanest, and most environmental option - menstrual cups are. If every woman could claim a free menstrual cup every year or two - the environmental, monetary, and health price would be significantly lower for all of us.
anechka gee And the universal (ironic) reply from most women will be "Eww, gross." I don't expect people to act for the greater good when convenience and familiarity are options.
Not quite. It takes a bit of practice, but the menstrual cups are much cleaner, waaay more comfortable (only need to be changed twice a day), and cheaper. There's a growing trend and more and more are converting and saying it changed their lives (so true for me too!). But we do need an active educational campaign and support. Possibly starting with workshops and free cups in high schools and universities, gynecologists' offices, and other relevant locations. Once you try a menstrual cup you never go back!
Perhaps you could have addressed estrus cycle vs menstrual cycle and possible survival benefits. The note on bats was interesting (why bats?). Also, the effects of extreme physiological stress on the m-cycle would have been an interesting side note.
1:51 You know damn well some woman on her period wouldn't be on white bed sheets wearing all white clothing.
+Seraphin C I have white bed sheets. If I happen to have those bed sheets there, and have a really painful period, I'm likely too lazy to change them. So yeah, it happens.
+justmeamara I didn't say that wasn't possible. I'm saying it's not probable. Does that clear it up for you?
+Seraphin C lmfao!
Xanxei question do women leak when its to much or is it when the pad cant absorb the blood fast enough?
Xanxei Well you can't when your mum is insane can you
Its just a waste of nutrients. Period.
+Kaaskroketje I agree! I'm partially anemic anyway and I feel so offended that my body just dumps all my iron out like that! WTF body!?!?
BlinkinFirefly I'm fully anemic on iron pills the whole works and I agree with you xD like are lol
Free tampons or pads would be amazing, but you know they're going to be the same quality as public restroom toilet paper
NinjaInConverse bad paper or no paper? hm?
8 years later now... I'm not positive but i think it happened in some countries.
so what is the quality like?
@@_mimir The very few times I have gotten a free pad or tampon from a bathroom or a health clinic (or school nurse) have been a lot of padding and almost no absorption or the tampon was too thin. I tend to get heavy periods the first 2 days so I use the Always brands meant to absorb discharge very quickly.
"No real benefit for the period at all." That's what I have been saying for years!!
Alexis Jankowski but not every women have period , fruitarian raw vegan and women who a alkaline diet lose their period but can still have children.... the only reason we have period is because of our standar american diet

when I was of chilbearing age, I spent a lot of time taking the contraceptive pill without a break, hence, no period. It did me no harm whatsoever.
Dream Delirium I totally agree! I had this same conversation with some people on a Menstruation vid on RUclips not too long ago.
Kenny S bro they were under the shelter of technology by the Gods
Someone reprogramme our DNA so we can spend less money on tampons and pads, send less rubbish to landfill becuase of tampon and pads, spend less money and send less rubbish to landfill because of ruined sheets and underwear because of failed tampons and pads, save more water from having to wash sheets and underwear, spend less money on sheets and underwears, save interpersonal relationships that are destroyed because of PMS and save 50% of our population from the agony that is period
😂😂
so f*cking right
period cups are a easier solution
+WeiYinChan good for everyone
men don't have to put up with sick sister or wives
woman don't have to feel shit everymonth
+WeiYinChan reprogramme the DNA of 8 billion people, so easy to do why dont we just do it right?
i've always thought about this. periods just make no sense at all and seem like they'd be a huge evolutionary disadvantage. like just think about it, leaving behind a trail of smelly blood everywhere you go seems like it would just attract predators. plus, humans are social creatures, so its not just attracting predators to the one menstruating, it would attract them to an entire family. and if women's periods really do sync up, it would make all of it even worse. honestly how the hell did humans survive with this trait???
I don't know how we evolved with this trait. One interesting thing to note is that it appears to have been around for 5 million or so years (based on the fact that chimps also get it), so we had to find ways of surviving in the jungle or the savanna or where-ever our ancestors were 5 million years ago, not just the past 500,000 or so years as humans.
Not just tampons should be free in restrooms, pads should as well, because not everyone uses tampons.

"But why?!" It seems like you don't even have the answer. So why is this video even up? Why?!
Science is never finished, there are no complete answers. These are the several incomplete answers we have thus far.
exactly...
Step one: raise an interesting question
Step two: make a video dancing around that question only to come to the conclusion at the end that "we don't really know"
Step three: profit
Yeah, they should independently research every question and break ground every day! They bring you up to speed on the scientific community's perspective. That's what they're meant to do. Quit whinging.
i would rather watch a 25second video on them saying "yes and no" than "idk"
Lol
Yes, tampons should be free in public bathrooms, just like toilet paper. They will probably be low quality (except in upscale restrooms), but it is better than nothing.
+rawsammi Or educate women about menstrual cups and make them available for free at clinics and doctors' offices.
rawsammi I'm not a female but this sounds like a smart udea
rawsammi ok. So free condoms as well?
Orppranator there are free condoms. There are no free tampons

Katie Redhead I have thought about this so many times, I hope the day comes soon that we could take a pill or something and periods stop for good
Katie Redhead You should read the webcomic Always Human
It briefly touches on that 😂
We can reduce menstruation symptoms by using hormone pills but I think completely stopping menstruation would (unfortunately) be bad for a woman since the bloody stuff that normally comes out will probably keep growing.
common misconception! it doesn't keep on growing, it doesn't develop at all due to the hormonal levels being maintained at the point where the body thinks 'no endometrial lining yet'. i do this myself. i think it's a bit sad that so many women don't realise they don't have to have a period every month if they're on the pill; i reckon it's so deeply ingrained in our society that it barely occurs to anyone. and the whole argument of 'i need a period to tell me i'm not pregnant!' is bullshit, since the periods you have while on the pill aren't even periods, they're withdrawal bleeds. you can have a withdrawal bleed and still be pregnant.
something else i found annoying was that before i started taking the pills back to back, i asked my doctor if it was safe just to make sure and she said 'wait until you're older'. excuse me, what does age have to do with this? i'm 17 and my uterus is going to be the same in 10 years.
+ZeSandvich The efficiency and lower risk of necrotizing infection (vs reabsorption) is probably less of a risk than being caught alone by a predator large enough to cause a human serious harm.
lots of animals are. some hunters will take used tampons with them hunting. attracts deer too you know.
For marcus24000: Since when were predators that fussy?
Given that chimpanzees also have them, that means we've been having them for at least 5 million years, long before we were human as we understand the concept today. So that makes the fact that the process survived in the face of 5 million years plus of evolution even more remarkable.
Why can't we re-absorb our lining too??! smh
+Erika Cloverleaf
As a non-scientist male, I feel that vegans are wrong on that point.
+Erika Cloverleaf
Yeah, I have also heard that a woman that is anemic cannot menstruate, it also seems very obese women can't also menstruate.
+karamei Woah woah woah, since when are condoms given out for free?
Allison Koester Pretty much any health clinic in the US, especially at colleges. I'm sure Planned Parenthood does this as well (they do a lot of things on a sliding scale of income though!). Dunno about other countries but I was given a free condom in a "welcome to college" goodie bag and I wasn't even sexually active at that time. So... the answer is a long time and pretty much everywhere. Public schools probably have them too but I was forced to go to horrid private religious crap.
You're lucky the dispenser had any pads! I can't even remember the last time I tried to use a dispenser and it didn't just steal my quarter. :/
+karamei
But are condoms given out for free in the same places where women are wanting/needing tampons... like restaurants, shopping places, clothing stores, malls, movie theaters, gas stations, or really any public place you can think of???
+Joe C
Dunno if this was aimed at me, but I'm on birth control, thanks.
If men had periods I'm sure tampons would be free too
+P Tennor You have a point
+Стражник Леса what about when u go out and u have a irregular period and it suddenly comes and u don't have a fucking pad to use?
Persimmon you also have a point
Maybe pads not tampons, because not everyone feels comfortably using tampons and pads are easier. Maybe that's just me though.
nope, me too, i really don't feel comfortable using tampons
(man here)
So that's what pads are used for!
i agree, it makes my penis feel funny when i use tampons, i don't like it...
+minimooster Yes, pads are easier for me.
True! Good on you.
WhY aRe YoU gAy.

Men should learn this too, maybe to help the women in their life 😊
Kate22277
I don’t think that’s an answerable question.
Why are you straight?
actually that's pretty awesome of you. it's always been rather irritating that guys freak out and act weird when the subject is so much as mentioned so women almost need to keep it secret from men. just recently i had a guy at work mention that i didn't look well and asked if i just woke up not feeling well. so i said "no, i woke up and started my period" and he just froze up and said "oh....okay" stood there for a few seconds and decided to leave. and let my point out that i wasn't cranky and i didn't say this in a cranky way. it just was what it was.
once i had to run home to grab some pads because i started early at work and didn't have anything with me(none of my female coworkers had anything either.). the only manager there was a guy and he freaked out when i asked. i tried to make it as not awkward as possible but he made it very awkward when he cut me off, stepped away, waved me away, and said "i don't want to know, just go." it was humiliating and rude. nothing like being treated like you have a contagious disease when you're on your period.
Give every teenage girl a free menstrual cup! That way they can start using it when they get their periods, save a HUGE amount of money (no need to buy so many tampons or pads every month) and there is so much less plastic waste.
+Qinglin888 Yes i agree! Or cloth pads because those and the cups don't harm your body like commercial pads and tampons.
+Qinglin888 lmao do you seriously believe that young teens would feel comfortable with inserting a cup in their virgin vagina? lol
ELISA STRANGEHUMANBEING I thought the same thing, but a lot of girls do it and they say they can hardly feel it since its flexible. btw i don't use them because i am unable to atm. but i would certainly try for the benefits
+Dream Delirium try a different cup! Different shapes and sizes work for different women.
***** At least you can still use cloth pads to make a healthy choice for your body and environment! Unless you're in a place where you can't wash them, which I would understand.
The fact that tampons aren't already free is ridiculous.
The fact that you don't know that nothing is for free is ridiculous
yes tampons and pads should be free and this is coming from a guy
The same people who pay the the toilet paper...oh no how could we cost a business $20 more a month to be a decent human being
+Christopher Akers I not a woman so I don't know exactly what I'm talking about here but bear with me.
Christopher Akers Yea I could agree with that. For Tampons to be free like how toilet paper is at restaurant. Makes sense.
Pads should be free, just like toilet paper in public bathrooms.
I always thought most animals didn't get periods because most animals are pregnant too often to get it
But that makes no sense with pets.
+Pașca Alexandru Menstrual cups FTW!
Free diva cups!
+Pașca Alexandru Holding is better than absorbing, so cups are better than tampons. As for pads, they are probably safer in theory, but all the chemicals put in them make them less safe than cups. Cloth pads are the safest.
click bait. give an intetesting question and then proceed to not having anything at all to say about it.
+Felipe Carvalho Well, I wouldn't go for ''anything AT ALL''. They did answer it: because it absorbs back and that's all, folks!
+Irina V hahahaha you're right, my bad. they actually shifted the mistery to us.
If men got periods we would have the answers by now.
I doubt it
+Sebastian Sahlin not some men...trans men
+Queen B so some men. (trans men are men) :)
+Nicole Ebert trans men are genetically female and they are not part of the patriarchy.
elines acevedo but they are men that's not up for you to decide
Imagine if people one day cure menstruation.
+Vasileski88 Cure? It's not a disease, it doesn't need to be cured. Perhaps there is a way to limit its frequency, though (like with new kinds of contraception).
+WisMicYal11
Yeah but it does have unwanted side effects that people would like to get rid of. Not to mention, death isn't a disease but some people are talking about curing death too.
What I meant was, it would be great if women didn't have to menstruate, lose blood, get cramps etc. Wouldn't it?
Nobody likes periods, but it's actually the reason why women live longer than men, and are healthier than them. It's nature you can't cure it.
So the video is called *Why most animals don't have periods* and what we got is *No one knows why HUMAN female have menstruation or knows exactly how it works*
Let me rename this video for you...

+SimderZ How? Why is there a different method these female/male scientists are unaware of?
+jezmcm probably not but, more money and time would probably be dedicated to this issue and that usually speeds things up quite a bit.
+SimderZ So you're saying female scientists are too incompetent to find answers, and have to rely on men ?
elines acevedo
I think you underestimate peoples motivation for money these days regardless of gender. I guarantee If you were to market a cure, male or female for one of the number one most desired female cures, I am pretty sure you'd stand to make quite a profit.
I don't think gender or motivation have anything to do with it. Just the simple fact scientists don't know enough, but patience all good things come to those who wait.
+elines acevedo Aren't there birth control pills that cut the number of periods to
Synchronized periods are a real thing, at least in my family. My mother, myself, my cousin, and my godsister would all sync when we lived together for an extended period of time.
Tampons, pads and condoms should be free, and not just free, but openly handed out. Theres no use in having shame for the human body.
Troll, you should really stop copying and pasting the same comment all over the place.

something else that's interesting is that we're one of the few species that require a helping hand from another human to give birth properly. i think it's due to the fact that we need a strong pelvis to walk and so we cant bend forward enough to help out the baby. don't quote me its been a while since i read this.
I've encountered the notion that eggs are chicken abortions and my reaction was, "No. They're chicken periods. Every egg that a hen lays that has never been fertilized is that chicken effectively having its period."
It's painful and messy, I wish they didn't happen every month.
I know an animal that's on its period. My sister.
OOOOH SHIT BRINGING ON THE HEAT
ROASTED
I think the most likely theory, which was not mentioned, is that human egg cells are incredibly aggressive and that without the ability to jettison the whole show, it would be too *easy* to get pregnant and a lot of bad pregnancies would go ahead that should have been spontaneously aborted. Basically, the endometrium is the least friendly place in the body for an egg to set up shop, but if it can make it there, it is likely a keeper.
Tampons should be more affordable. It's ridiculous how much companies charge for a product made out of paper and plastic. They just know that women will pay it so they charge it so high.
true
Investing in a good mooncup will be the cheapest option in long run. :)
You haven't researched that. If you do it properly it isn't any less hygienic than other options.
+Sandra Viknander This explanation makes perfect sense, good on you for sharing! :D Also, funny ending. :P
Prove it.
Just cause it sounds right to you, doesn't mean it is.
You need hard evidence, and that requires extensive research and experimentation.
Kay Kay
"A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of *limited evidence* as a starting point for further investigation."
She has zero evidence, and she has done no research. You still need evidence to make a hypothesis, as your copied and pasted definition shows.
She's not even in the second step of the scientific method.
Kay Kay
What are you blabbering on about?
I'm not going to waste anymore of my time with this discussion, so let me give you some links that describe each step of the scientific method in detail:

I got my period when I was 12 and its been torture ever since. I am 47 now and still dealing with it every month. I have always thought periods were stupid and there must be a better way. And now I find out that there is a better way it’s just our species evolved stupidly and is too dumb to choose the better way. Mother Nature must be an idiot to evolve us this way.

Maybe it has something to do with walking upright?
As annoying as it is, I like to think it expands my empathy through human suffering, both physically and emotionally.

+Lauren Brown
Which does explain why guys are so lacking empathy...
I'm a guy, btw
But chimps aren't exactly upright walkers, nor are bats or elephant shrews. Back to the drawing board...
It's really nice the way she doesn't rush through everything. All videos should be like this! I'm looking at you, scishow!

If I were a woman, I would have a voluntary hysterectomy as soon as I could afford it. 100% effective birth control for life, and no periods.
When I had intense anxiety or depression I didn’t have period for half a year but when I let all my frustrations out to my enemy that damn period came back again . That experience made me think well maybe stress is good to get rid of annoying periods.
Just get a contraceptive injection
+Lorie Love .. Lorie, I don't think you are being objective to begin with.

people with endometriosis do end up re-absorbing it. and it's incredibly painful and can cause scar tissue build up
Whoa! Free tampons in all restrooms? That's genius. I don't think it'd be approved in the US for the next couple of centuries, but still. Pretty rad
Tampons and pads should totally be free in public restrooms!

nowthat I'm thinking about it... all worlds problems could have been avoided if that stupid of Adam had let Lilith go on top.
Doblestorm i don't get this one, sorry...
movement2contact There's a version that says that before Eve, there was another woman called Lilith.
Yeah, quality doesn't matter.
Vlad III as if public toilet paper has good quality 🤷🏽♀️ it should at least be provided
tampons and sanitary towels should be free in restrooms as you never know when your period will start.
I wear sanitary towels all the time as I get no sign from my body when mine will start and mine are not monthly but approximately mine are once every three months so I always worry about being caught short when my period does happen
Are sanitary towels, pads?
And most females (out of their teenage years) have pretty frequent periods (they know what time of the month it's gonna happen)

Should Tampons be free in public restrooms?
I think that could be a problem since some jackasses would steal them, and that would be much easier than stealing Toilet paper.

+Random Person why are you here watching a video on periods?
Julie Zwyer Why not? It affects all of us one way or another.
+Sean Pannella So, we should also charge people for toilet paper, right? And paper towels? How about a quarter to make the hot air hand dryer to work?
Sure Europe charges to use the restroom. You are acting like its crazy to do that. But of course companies can decide. Many companies would offer it on their own free will because they want a good customer experience but maybe a small cafe that is having hard times would reduce some of their extra services and focus on their core product.
+Sean Pannella There are plenty of US stores that don't allow anyone but paying customers to use the restroom. Some places don't even have public restrooms.
A public restroom is a convenience not a right.
Women taking certain oral contraceptives don't have periods
I would like having my periods if I didn’t have cramps every month
I was sitting minding my own and business. Suddenly, a question arises: "Do other mammals menstruate?" Here I am!
I swear i wish my periods were irregular because ive been on my period 3 times in a FREAKIN ROW ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! -.-
+Torie no you don't!
why?
+Torie mine comes 30-45 days, no consistency. I can start getting cramps as early as two weeks before it starts - and yet you never know exactly when it will come. I can't plan anything around my period because I never know when it will come - ever. the range is two weeks! they're also very painful and more often then not a sign of a hormonal disbalance. For birth control, whether you want to get pregnant or not, it's hard to plan or avoid pregnancy as you don't know exactly when you're ovulating.
Thats true id hate to not to be able to plan stuff around my period, Im pretty fortunate to have my period on a regular basis and not having to deal with really bad cramps I get where you are coming from but periods are an uncomfortable thing to deal with and when i'm on it i feel disgusting i just want to feel comfortable on my birthday and not have to deal with that extra load of feeling shit on my day haha but yeah completely understand where your coming from
Free tampons in public restrooms, sounds like a recepy for disaster.
+Goku Nimbus So is your spelling of "recipe".
We can use the nose or lungs as an example where mucus is used as a vehicle to expel things the body will not tolerate.
tampons should definitely be free just in case you have an irregular period or even if you just forgot to carry supplies
Nothing is free. Someone has to pay.
+SuperAtheist Obviously, the question is whether users should have to pay out of pocket. Nobody thinks tampons grow on trees.
+Ani MMN Anything that requires costs to make.
+SuperAtheist Well, free tampons wouldn't be costing the tax payers unless its in a government building. Most likely it would be required for the restroom to legally be a restroom for private companies (restaurants, offices, etc)
what's up with that phone going off in the back ground??
Mmm never really thought about this.
So what happens when a dog is in heat?
They always keep on leaving us with more questions than answers...
HeadHusky mhm so they can make more videos. it's a vicious cycle
+HeadHusky my dog has periods
+Nero Angelo no it has heat
A white man licks the juice
nothing is free all money
Tampons can not be free because someone has to pay for them. They must be manufactured, packaged & shipped. And that just means everyone will have to pay a tax in order to pay for those tampons. And long after your period has stopped, you will still have to pay the tampon tax until you stop working.
They have to be manufactured and shipped... just like toilet paper?
Once you try a menstrual cup you never go back!
anechka gee Oh you don't have to convince me. I'm right there with you. I just don't expect the public to come around to them anytime soon.
Perhaps you could have addressed estrus cycle vs menstrual cycle and possible survival benefits. The note on bats was interesting (why bats?). Also, the effects of extreme physiological stress on the m-cycle would have been an interesting side note.
