I´m an advocate of proper Core.. It should be the Core and loads of it, like in the art, the battles, loads and loads of troops from thje Core, SUPPORTED by the elite and more uncommon elements. Love it! Some serious stuff for da bony boyz, great job! They look amazing, great job mate!
I would love a rule set that unlocks special and rare units only ever after a certain amounts of core units are picked. Something like for every 2 core units of a certain point value you unlock one special and for every 4th core unit you get a rare. Something along those lines. I absolutely hate looking at armies that have like 2 5 model core units and the rest is just elites and rares and heros.
Everything looks so good, table plus .. and some, your miniatures always look great. I like the spirit hosts, I use those AoS minis for ghosts too, much creepier than the spindly barrel of monkeys waving knives around. That rock hill looks fine on camera, maybe its just in your hands under lights its brighter, like an old thespian lathered in cake make up, the audience liked it from ten feet away. One of those statues, I'd be tempted to put a few tiny specs of white bird droppings atop that flat axe top, nice perching spot, and a nest made from trimings of sisal string stuffed in a nook, maybe below the ear where the beard and shoulder form that perfect nesting spot. Probably heresy, blame wood elf kits and those owls, I'm trying to give them all homes. 6th is returning? Awwww yeah, now we're cookin.
Love the new miniatures and terrain. Thumps up for your planned additions to the empire army. I'm not a "true" empire player myself, but I use the Teutogen guard as Norse Marauders in my Dogs of War Army - I absolutely love the sculpts. The original models are quite expensive for my taste, thus I got myself some recasts - Maybe that's a possibility for you too, as the original models are quite scarce. And about the empire stuff I have... Let's say I'm a fan of the von Carstein Appendix list. You could just give it a try in a game. You could also bring some Dogs of War cannons, like I do :) Thrilled to see the next report, which is still on my "Watch list". Happy painting and wargaming, Stos!
The Knights of the White Wolf arms - and the rest of the "hairy head sprue" was originally designed to convert the Mordheim mercenaries (later released as Empire Free Company) into Middenheimers - and was later included in the Empire Knights box. The arms look too armoured for Mordheim mercenaries and they don't quite look right on the Knights either, but I guess they were trying to save tooling costs on sprues, back when that was a significant upfront cost.
Thank you for soldiering through your incoming cold to make this video for us :'''') I'm always stoked to see a new video from you pop up on my front page! ALSO can't wait for some 6th edition goodness, it is the only edition I know xD
Nice to see the hellblaster Volley Gun pop in. It was a nice period for me when 6th Ed dropped, when i actually joined WHFB playing just 40k before (And Mordheim and some other Specialist games). Was a ncie release with the Empire, I loved the art and the fluff too. They have a cool look and I miss those puffy trousers.. A very striking-looking army and it works, facing all these beasts! Hope we get to see it grow more and both the ones painted by you and the ones painted by grayson fight more. :) But i miss da ladz too of course! Greenskin for life..
The 5th/6th edition empire sculpts are fantastic! Don't be afraid to lean into the historical clothing aspect and use bright colours, it can work really well ^^
You don't like the dark Leviadon blue? I just didn't want white and light blue. I find the contrast between white and dark blue really striking. I do plan to use a healthy amount of brighter yellow and red for various feathers and tassels across the army though.
@@rogueelementgaming The leviadon blue looks good! (it's actually one of my favourite contrast paints, goes well with an icy blue drybrush before application, but I digress...) It's just that a lot of people are hesitant to try the brighter colour schemes on empire when they work really well for them. The bright-blue & white Middenheim scheme from the 6th ed armybook (as opposed to the slightly darker look in the Storm of Chaos supplement) was seared into my brain during childhood, so I felt compelled to at least mention trying it, just in case you hadn't.
Awesome video as always Stos! Really enjoyed the latest report and now super excited for the next one! Proud to support the channel and always love seeing new uploads. As always keep up the great work. Cheers! Jay 🇬🇧
Lovely stuff mate. I used to play Empire, Vampires and Chaos dwarves myself and Im slowly working on new armies for all of them. Man the old 3d printer i working overtime.
Stos, happy to see a video and great pieces as usually. I am on of Thise preferring the 6th ed. Probably mainly as I haven’t played the OW and although I have the rules … I am confused by the retreat/break of units rules 😅
Thanks for the Interessting Report and Future Idears , Convert Models is a lot of Work and Time (and Talent............ I´ve never had). Terrain (Dwarven) is awesome. (I am an old Guy who don´t use Insta or Facebook, but RUclips, that´s enough Time-Stealer in my Life at all). Wait for next Staff on this Super interesting and inspire Channel
Hill looks sick! Don't overthink it. Also, if you want to add some colour to those statues, I've found stippling little patches of turquoise followed by Sybarite Green gives a cool lichen-ish vibe. Good for breaking up all that grey.
Great to see you again (and looking forward to what you have upcoming)! One thing you might want to try is using dry pigments on your terrain. You can achieve some really cool and realistic effects with very little effort
Your minis look great. I’ve been busy painting up a VC army for old world. Aiming for 2000 points in 3 months. I’ve painted 145 minis since the start of July. Lots of fun painting undead
I believe it may have been my comment about the spirit host from a year ago that you took as "inspiration/advice". Glad to see the result! Mine is much worse ;)
If im not mistaken, the spirit hosts were a good tarpit in 6th ed, since they could only be armed by magic attacks and/or crumbling, thus they could keep a unit tied up for a long, long while
Good to hear there will be 6th edition battle report. I'm tired with the Old World- it didn't met my expectations and I don't enjoy detailed battle reports of TOW ;)
Agree - the 6th edition battle reports are more fun. ToW is boring with hardly any action due to so many types of saves (everything seems to have armor, ward and regen!) and units very rarely fleeing due to fall back etc.
Hey Stos, great to see once again a let's hobby video, it's been too long since the last one! I really devoured it! It was a pleasure to play with your amazing skellies and, in my view, even more amazing spirit hosts! While I have to admit it was not a great pleasure to face the wrong side of the new Empire cannon 😂😂 And if you haven't still recognized me, it's your pal Alessandro writing here! Absolute pleasure to meet you in person, again mate you are a legend and what you do is pure magic! Love every bit of it!
great vid m8 , always nice to see what's going on behind the scenes... the hill looks fine, maybe abit of weathering to dull the flat bits down but either way its fine bud..
Did you consider to paint the next units of your empire army as they appear in Dark omen? Like greatswords in black and red with that purple banner. It would be awesome to see all these units on tabletop
I did consider it, but in the end decided to go with my original plan to paint a Middenland army that will be working closely with the Grudgebringer Mercenaries. I might add a few of the Grudbringer units in time, but for now Middenland!

Battles 50% core are the best
@@camillokamo8950 I´m all for it. Looks like armies and the Core is supported by the less common, as it should be, elite infantry etc.
6th ed Chaos armies taking 1000 points of core chariots with scythed wheels: 😏 “yep gotta have a solid foundation of core”.
@@kwest9747 lol, some armies have a bit to generous things in Core.. That should have been regulated somehow..

Love the rock, no need to do anything else to it. Love all the content mate 10/10
Thanks so much mate! Stoked you enjoy it!
Glad to hear there is more 6th Ed coming!!!
I hope those hell cannon crew have better luck than that shameful dwarf crew who became slayers.
I like how you go over your paints and painting process it's super helpful for ideas. They look great for such simple schemes.
Glad you like them!
I absolutely love this video! Spirit Hosts are super strong, they can potentially just shut down a dragon
The brown you are thinking of is Gorgrunta Fur, amazing for wood and leather (leather especially if you airbrush it)
I do use Gorgrunta Fur, and it's a great colour. But the new one I was struggling to name was Cygore Brown. Really nice deep redy brown.
