- These are my tried and tested bushcraft tools that I've used for about 30-35 years. In that time there has been very little changes to my tools. I have had one more saw of the same type and I have used one other axe. I have used these when hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping, hiking etc.

At last a real professional! Your basic set of tools is the only one that all the professional guides, who accompanied me in my long life (I'm 84 years old) of trekking and hunting carried in Europe, USA and Africa. Of course it's my personal kit since I was a boy scout, unfortunately too many years ago! Moreover this kit with folding saw, pukkos and axe is LEGAL to carry along in every part of world while bowie knives are forbidden or at least frown nearly every where. My compliments! According to my personal experience you are a serious outdoorsman!

It is a great saw. I was able to fix it but my side button broke on me and made me wonder why a button would be made of plastic and not metal. It gets pressed over and over again and it eventually created a weak point. Super glue did the trick and all is fixed now

A solid basic set. No frills. No extra gizmos. I spent a lot of years and $$ on a career of military blades. Now I’m reverting to what various blade centric cultures use to live. Not survive.
People often forget the classics when reinventing the tool! The age old designs often outperform the "new" and cost less as well, well except for the Gransfors but there are good axes available in that size for cheaper cost.
Absolutely. These tools have been fine tuned over hundreds of years. There's a reason why they are the way they are.

A good folding saw is a must!! That is a good looking axe! That is a serious knife and I love the sheath!! The smaller knife looks pretty cool as well! really like the handle on it!! Thanks for sharing brother!!

I am half Norwegian. My mother was born in Molde. I have two Helle knives. They are of high quality and beauty. I also have several Finnish puukkos. Scandinavian knives are the best. Thanks 🎸🔪
My almost 20 years old Stroemeng KS9 is still going strong. Never do stupid batoning, even Sami people didn‘t do that but were butchering and such. My food prep knive is an Enzo Elver. Both are my companions for gentle trampings years and years…
Those are some great tools! I love all of the tradition in them also. Sometimes, if something has been working well for a very long time, there’s good reason to keep using it. Newer designs aren’t always better. That big Sami-style knife is really cool! I’ve never seen one before. It makes a ton of sense and sounds really versatile. Thanks for sharing.
The sami knife is a knife with very long history and is virtually unchanged over the years.
Fun fact about the bras on the handle: The brass is a sacred metal to the Sami, and the metal protects the holder against evil spirits. Brass also stops blood, removes boils and pains when you hold the metal against the skin. 👍

Ive got a marttiini lapp 250, i can believe sharpness like it exists when i got it i use the leather strop and a bit of toothpaste and, boy i cant describe it i can shave arm hair and not hear it or feel it! It just pushes the hair like it just sitting there
do you use toothpaste as polishing/stroppinng compound?
@@ferdblu1946 yea i used to strop with toothpaste on a leather belt, but i have stropping compound now, both work, the compound works a bit quicker

That is a very fine looking set of tools. I have very reliable but not so good looking knives, the terävä skrama and jääkäripuukko. I buyed them bcs they are good quality but at a low cost. But i have to admit, those traditional tools look way better...
Terävä makes great knives!

How old is that Sami knife? Looks like it has some stories to tell! I just received the same knife for Christmas and look forward to giving it as much time afield as you have yours.
That knife is a little over 30 years old. It's a great tool which I'm not afraid of using for chopping and batoning.👍 remember to squeeze the sheath to make it a bit wider when taking the knife out and inn! It's easy to cut the sheath if you're not careful.👍
I use a Saga Siglar as my main knife, had it for a few years now - brilliant!. Is yours the original release? I believe Helle stopped making them for a time, while the bigger 'Viking' took over. I got one when they re-released them, as I prefer a shorter blade. Bloody glad I did - I think they've stopped making them again! Glad to see it's stood the test of time!

My Saga siglar is one from the original release. It's a great knife, and the balance is better than in the Viking, I feel.👍
