When I use wood for a handle I always make sure that the tang is super clean and I cut grooves along the edges. Gives the epoxy more to grab on to. Beautiful job though.
You have worked hard on this old piece. If you like it that way that is what counts but it shouted personality before. Now it is a movie star. Before it worked hard and had adventures that movies are made of. Sorry. I am one of those old coots who has romantic notions and is sentimental about old "personalized " knives, but now, this blade can have new adventures, hopefully not from a shelf on the wall. I hand forge rustic knives with mineral coal. I use a hole in the ground for my forge and I appreciate the work you put into this beautiful knife.
Too many times people restoring old knives try to "dress" them up by adding shiny brass or fancy scales and it just doesn't work. You've done an outstanding job keeping this a little rustic and it looks fantastic!
Thanks! Indeed it looks like that! Actually the writing is Finnish and says "Lapin puukkotehdas Rovaniemi". Translated to English it means Lapland knifefactory Rovaniemi. Rovaniemi is city in Finland near arctic circle.
Many puukko and leuku knives look like bowi ... I wonder if this shape was popular before it was popular in the west? Maybe some European influences in the United States ....
The manufacturer may have made it as a tool but it exudes a magnificence.
...у большого мастера и тесаки большие, молодец!-, отличная работа, выглядит как будто из магазина, здоровья тебе и удачи во всём!!!
When a leuku and a machete loves each other very much, they get this

Thank you!
Isn't the smell just horrendous, when you're sanding and working on the bone? Anyway, very cool outcome!
Nice work. How long is the blade?
Bravo sir
Great work 👏 👍
Thanks!
Lovely blade...looks Tolkien-ish with the "strange" writing/engraving mid blade.
Definately worth the effort.
Well done.

It looks like the large knife Aragorn was gifted in Lothlorien.

Lapin Puukkotehdas Rovaniemi. Nice one. Was there any markings when this leuku was made?
No there wasn't

This isn't a typical big lapish blade but there are more than one examples. This kind of blade shape was very popular in medieval Europe.
Жаль исходный тыльник рукояти.
