Shrimp hatchet??? Is it used just for shrimp?? Never heard of one It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well And love the handle you made for it!! Enjoyed the video and I gave it a Thumbs Up. Wished you would have shown how it's used
I like the handle if I find it in the market i will buy it !!!! if you were planing to go that far in your restoration , using a file and sand paper to smooth the surface , why just use a wire wheel to remove all the rust from the beginning??? !! and after that use the file and sand paper to avoid all this process of use small wire brush , baking soda etc, also i believe you were planing to save the wood handle but you were trying to remove the nail you destroy the handle ! i did restoration and I tried to remove the nail first removing the head and punch the nail trough the wood or drill the nail ! then remove the handle for restoration . your final product looks beautiful !! but it is call now a renovation !!
Why do all youtube restorers, regardless of nationality, use amazingly rusted shears for cutting sandpaper? Like, every single one- it's amazing! (Loved the video; amazing work)
Damn….I was hoping to see a demonstration of the intended use of this beautiful “shrimp hatchet”. Never heard of such a thing, so it would have been nice to see how exactly it’s supposed to be used on shrimp, etc.
have you tried use electricity to remove rust method? sure its something that sits over night but would save you alot of work . a simple car battery charger would do the job

Are you really in japan? I noticed your vise has 3 ½" on it. That is imperial, not metric as I believe they use in japan. Please correct me if I am wrong. Probably just american made.
At the 8:06 & 11:23 marks… Is there going to be a video of the restoration of those rusty scissors/clippers that you used to cut the sandpaper?? (Just odd to see a restoration channel use rusty tools to restore a different rusty tool….)
Thats great workmanship 👍👍

The handle came out better than I expected... and it is very sharp...👍❤️
The point that keeps the cutting edge off the surface is interesting
It’s always fascinating to see how people in other countries approach restoration.

The video is great. I would have just cleaned it, preserving the traditional handle.
It's a nata, if I'm not mistaken.
It should be a farm tool similar to the billhook.
My compliments, an accurate and meticulous restoration.

This machete is used on wood and bamboo like others. Shrimp is just the name from its shape. Ebi-nata in Japanese. Ebi means shrimp.
Great video Great work 🤝🤝👏

There are many tools with inch display in Japan.
Many tools are imported from the United States
My god tho thats some sherlock holmes style inspection lmao
It just needed some rest remover that's all.
