Born and raised in Hyattsville - for us the state is pronounced - Mare-lin; the city is pronounced Hydesville.
And to add - stressing the O in the National Anthem is OK at O's games but simply not done at Nats games (as one Nats fan said at Nats Park - "we don't O here!"
You might be from Meralyn if you think the mere forecast of snow is enough to shut her down
True, the traffic is terrible when it snows 😂😭😭
m e r a l y n ? did you mean M A R Y L A N D 😂😂😂 ( no hate )
Omg that's so true. My bf moved here from Maine and was like wtf is up with you ppl and a 1/8" of snow?!
Texas is worse. They close the schools for a 1/2 inch of snow...
Garrett County doesn't close for nothin' lol
You know your In Maryland when you see more Maryland flags than American flags. I seriously think we think we are our own country sometimes lol
Yeeees
You know your from Maryland when the threat of snow sends you out immediately to buy milk , bread , eggs and toilet paper .
😂😂😂
If you put old bay on fries and pizza, your from Marilyn.
YES
I put old bay on my fries sometimes but only because someone from Pennsylvania encouraged me to try it lol
Yes…I even put it on hoagies, with honey mustard
Old bay goes on EVERYTHING. Put that on burgers - YUM
Old bay is for special occasions... that's every occasion unfortunately
The OOooo killed me!! We all grew up with that being normal and when other people don’t do you, you are so confused and then remember that they are not from Maryland!
Koala Life That’s because people from MD are so stupid.
@Brody Brodington That’s pretty witty since the whole video stereotypes people from MD.😂😂😂
When I joined the navy, they played the national anthem at the finale of bootcamp. I did the Oooo cause I thought that was a legit thing to do. My RDCs were not pleased.
Bald-imore and Mair-alyn (luv crabs) XD never knew they call it striped bass I just always called it rockfish
same
I know right, I grew up with that because I was raised going fishing but never call it a striped bass
We had to sing the national anthem at a school assembly once, and literally everyone screamed OOOOOOoooh
haha I can believe it!
You can tell you’re *in* Maryland when the frozen yogurt store has old bay as a topping
🤣 that’s funny
As a Marylander I didn't even know that a Rockfish was the same as a striped bass lol we always call it a rockfish
I wouldn't quite say we're nothern! Wayyy more southern than people want to admit..Lol! Good vid though
@Buddy Scott: My thouughts exactly. I'm originally from PA (Pittsburgh) and when I moved here 11 years ago, I thought that Marylanders sounded southern..lol
It depends where you live in Maryland.
Nope we're a boarder state.
We are called the line state
I feel like a lot of folks I grew up with refer to us as Mid-Atlantic. I identify with that slightly Southern part! :)
I own 12 shirts that have Maryland flags on them or crabs, don’t judge me hun I’m from Meralyn.
Brett O’Neil I have shoe laces with the flag😂😂
@@gabibrock8808Thats awesome! I had the crab decal on my 95 Taurus. Maurlyn a gift.
Born and raised in MOCO and there's not one crab spot anywhere near.. It's very different from the eastern shore lol
hah, yeah it really is a different culture depending on where in Maryland you live.
I'm guessing you never took a good venture south of Rockville.
Must be different from Central and Northern Maryland too. All around the Baltimore suburbs there’s crab spots.
I've got Maryland flag shoes and no im from the south as far as im concerned
I love your Maryland pride, I see your flag and everything, I’m super excited because I’m moving to Maryland next week! I hope it’s fun there. I’m ready to eat some crabs 😂even though I didn’t learn to pick them at an early age like u Marylanders
Selling Maryland With Malcolm Annapolis, the capital👍
Selling Maryland With Malcolm yeah! I was warned A LOT about the Ocean City traffic but I can’t wait it seems fun, and yes you’ll be top of my list when I’m looking for a place😊
don't forget the old bay
any updates?!? how ya liking md ?!?
I live in Easton but I'm originally a Calvert County boy
I was driving in Vermont, with Vermont tags, and picked up a hitchhiker. After a while he asked "Are you from Maryland?" "Yeah, why?" 'You just said ambiu-lance. Nobody says ambiu-lance except people from Maryland."
You might be from meralyn if you think Old Bay Crab Seasoning would go good on Utz's potato chips ( by the way, yes it goes very well)
YES
Old bay goes well on anything really, and I’m from maryland.
Really good on chicken wings
@@davidmoran4471 Ikr?
Hmmm?... I'm surprised a potato chip hasn't done that already🤔
As a Marylander stuck in New York, I needed this refresher. Thanks, Malcolm.
Lived in Bawlmur, MD for the last 5 years, moved over from Cali. Never once heard someone call me hun, and people either call it "Ball-da-more" or "Ball-tim-moor". I must be missing out on some secret.
Baltimore is different from the rest of Maryland lol.
I guess some people in PA do not know what a deer whistle is on your car.
Righttt I’ve heard hun a couple times my entire life 😂 and it’s most definitely “Ball-Tim-moor” I’ve never heard anything mis pronounce that hahaha I guess it depends where ur at in Maryland
The rockfish, ‘hun’, feeling the need to emphasize the O during national anthem and mere-alyn got me lol. Raised in Maryland from age 6 to 19
Birth to 7 lol
I learned how to pick crabs before riding a bike😂 also people say us Marylanders have accents...do you think it’s the Bawl-more and Mer-alyn thing we say? Anyways represent🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
RIGHT
I was talking to one of my friends on Skype and someone they knrw joined and said I had a accent xD idk what it is with us we're just weird arent we
JAZTV our accent is to magically turn country then back to no accent then to country
I’ve never said Bawl-more or Mer-alyn in my life !! 😂 on the other hand I have heard it, but I guess in my area it’s less common to actually find someone who pronounces things like that lol I do live in Maryland though
I grew up in Kentucky but have lived in Maryland since 1992. Kentuckian by birth and Marylander by the grace of God. I consider Maryland my home state and I’m proud to be a resident of the land of pleasant living. And our state flag rocks!
This one made me smile.... And yes.... I'm from mer-alyn...and the deer whistles and the rock bass... Lol... Trust me the lil deer whistles are a car saver...
Does ‘merica come from Maryland?
How bout them Os? God ocean city traffic is AWFUL...trust me I know, I live right off Route 50 in Easton. Originally from Southern Maryland though, good ol Calvert County!
Born in Baltimore, raised in Ocean City. Had to move to Florida a couple years ago. I played a fun game with my co-workers one day, wrote down a couple of names like Pocomoke, Assateague, Worcester, Wicomico, Chincoteague..... And died laughing when they tried to pronounce them, it was pretty funny.
😂😂😂
If you wax poetic about being from Maryland and mention Crabs at least twice - your definitely from Maryland. Born in Landsdown and raised in Good ole Glen Burnie >^_^<
Crab Town ROCKS !!! So, my youtube rabbit hole payed off with this video. Was looking up old 80's commercials - move onto looking for a Chucks Drive-In commercial, stumbled upon this.
If every time a snowstorm hit and you knew PG County schools only got 2 delay while everyone else (especially MoCo) was closed, you might be from MD.
SOOooo true! Especially here in the Dena hon.
I’m from Charles County. I can agree with some but yall seem in a different world.
Nailed it pretty good
If getting crabs on the first date isn't a bad thing.... LOL!!!
I was on vacation a few years ago and we met this family who was from Washington state I think. We were talking about where we were from and they said: oh! you're from Mary-land. My whole family burst out laughing.
Baldimore and Warshington
ohh I forgot about Warchington
I love how people jump on my backs saying I don’t even know how to say my state and I’m just like....meralyn
lol that's how you tell they are outsiders. It's pronounced Meralyn!
I'm from Maryland. A couple of things you didn't mention. Marylanders usually salt their food before tasting it to see if it needs it.
Also, Marylanders say "wuff" for wolf. The sound a wolf might make.
😂😂😂😂 I do that lol
We didn't have a National Aquarium when I went to school. We did go to the McCormick warehouse at the inner harbor on a field trip though.
It’s funny how I’m Maryland no matter where you are there’s always a realtor sign in the corner of every street
Lol , I was born and raised here and I don't do any of those things but I do like Old Bay on / in certain foods and I like some pan fried soft crabs .
He got me with the riding your bike and picking crabs. I had to think for a min? Bike first😀😀😀😀 Go Ravens
haha congratulations, you MUST be from Maryland
Good channel. Hey if you wanna hear the most over the top Meralyn accent, check out a movie called 52 Pick up. The funny thing is the actor John Glover was actually from Maryland, but, man, he goes hard core with it!
I'll have to check it out, thanks.
@@MalcolmLawsonREALTOR Actually, a very good little movie; here's the trailer. You'll know it when you hear it. :P ruclips.net/video/yK-ajlxnyOY/видео.html
You forgot if you ever had to call for an amalance after drinking too many Boh's while watching the Oreos' game and then somebody knocks on the winders, you might be from Meralyn.
😂😂😂😂
Oh boy what a beer!
I wanna go there so baaaaad! I’m gonna try to convince my family to plan a last minute trip to the Chesapeake Beach🏖
No no no no no no no no ho ho! I live in Maryland and I hate it here... so dangerous and their accents are terrible. I said o like a Marylander and I cruelly punished myself. Lol you don’t want to go. Never.
yeah prolly take a dip in the gross oil filled, littered bay too
Dear God, why
Go to St. Mary's County for some seafood, then leave
So sorry but it’s not as great as it seems !!! If I were you I’d definitely pick another area to explore but obviously up to you, my elementary school used to plan field trips (don’t know if they still do) to go out to the Chesapeake bay and pick up trash and clean the water up just to attempt to keep it healthy
Who else from PG?!?!🖐🏼
PG born and bred...
I was born in PG but raised in Howard lol
@@ValentinaxEdits lucky lmao
I grew up on the Eastern Shore so thankfully OC is about 30 minutes east from me
I swear to god every time I go to an orioles game the ooooh is always so loud
You know you're in Maryland if you have a crab magnet or a MD flag magnet or, even better, a MD flag crab magnet on your bumper. Extra points for the additional OC sticker.
the north south thing is actually backwards, there is a thing there tho, most ppl iv ever heard claim a side here in maryland say theyre southern, and we are in fact, however ppl like to argue that were a northern state for some weird ass reason..
I seem to remember from my boyhood years going to Maryland every year for a couple of months or so in Hartford county (“canny”) kids saying “You’re ‘fflicted” (You’re afflicted) when you say or do something weird. Is that a Maryland-ism or is it more spread around?
I live in Maryland and I do all of these except for the hun.
Only some sentences.
We in southern Ohio have that Oooh thing too. When I was in Baltimore (loved it - had fun), I noticed that you guys pronounced "money" a little differently...I can't remember what it was now that was different about it.
which do you prefer the eastern shore or western shore
Montgomery County gang, rise up
"Down the ocean"
Annemarie Staudenmann Downy Ocean.
We have the best state flag! D.C. was a part of Maryland btw. I would say it depends on where you are from in Maryland.
Me, who only fits a few of those stereotypes while living in Maryland my entire life: 👁️👄👁️
This rocks, you did good on this! I've been watching other ppls RUclips "Maryland videos" and they sucked, not yours tho! Rock on! Maralinder here 😉.
Marylander here! This is correct.
why are comments turned off for the maryland memes video??
I'm from Maryland and I can't really relate to this.
Me neither.
oh no. What would be on your list?
@@MalcolmLawsonREALTOR Putting Old Bay on baked potatoes
Me neither. And I grew up mostly in Baltimore City...
If you put old bay on popcorn 😂
....you had me at hun.......
0:58 I just go there for fun ;3;
1:04 that’s me 1000% .w.
My only complaint.
In Md we either say Marilyn or merlyn.
You can tell someone from out of state we they say mary-land.
I got like half of these. I have a light accent when im not around my family. I also accidentally use an english accent of varying dialect so that affects it. When i (md) visit my grandmother (md) in pennsylvania it becomes more obvious
I got called out at ending every sentence with one hon. My speech is littered with dear, hon, love, but only when I talk to friends, family, and children. I am not even from the southern part of the state you guys.
NOBODY in Southern Maryland considers themselves Northerners
My sister was in a highchair when she learned to pick a crab. I remember my dad saying.. "If she wants to eat them, she needs to learn".
When your state is North, South, and East.
1) yeah sure why not! i've never been on a date before but i'd be cool with crabs
2) i havent sung the national anthem since like, 1st grade so no clue
3) i usually pronounce bawl-di-more
4) nah
5) dont live near ocean city, but the traffic there is pretty crazy
6) i barely know any fish
7) nah
8) probably? i think i'm self-taught when it comes to picking crabs so i doubt i do it properly
9) none of my clothes have the MD flag on it
10) YES. YES YES APPARENTLY NOT EVERY STATE IS LIKE THAT???
11) HELL YEAH WE'RE NORTH
12) don't own a car, but if i got one i should invest in that. avoiding deers looks hard when i watch others drive
13) nah square pizza reminds me of school lunch
14) nah
15) proud to be from the state of marliyn monroe
I'm from oc hon and really get the oc traffic
I’d say most of these are correct considering I’m from Maryland 😭😂 as far as how we talk that kind of depends on where at in Maryland
Don't forget the science center, that place was cool asf
Born and raised in Maryland but I only do 4 out of these 15 things
Ive got a couple of Ocean City shirts, I acrually haven't found any maryland flag clothes at my local all powerful sto- I mean Wal-Mart
Maryland is is the start of Dixie 🤠🥃🏴
Ugh i hate driving on i-95 on rush hour, especially friday early evening.
shopping at the bes buy near Baldimore
I don’t have any of these quality’s but the last one but I add a “a” in the middle of it.
If you know the significance of "Surrender Dorothy" you might be from Marilyn.
YES! 495 and the Mormon Temple!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This list seems to only apply to people from the east coast or southern Maryland. I was raised in northern MD and none of this applies!
this is like northern maryland
I feel so attacked 😂
If you suck at driving you might be from Maryland...haha half jk but great channel. I'm biased since I'm from VA.
I keep a small thing of old bay in my car for lunch breaks, yea I’m from mer-alyn
So this is all Maryland but Baltimore! Lol
I think I actually did learn how to pick a crab before I knew how to ride a bike and I was docking boats before I could ride a bike too 😂😂
yup, you're from Maryland then!
Lol same and asparagus
No the Baltimore is so true 😂😂
Eastern Shore born and raised
I learned how to crack open an oyster on a field trip
maryland !!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
I was born and raised in MD but I never had crab. I also never been to ocean city
You were robbed of childhood. LOL
I thought I was the only one from MD Montgomery Co. who hasn’t been to OC. Been to many other beaches but not that one. Love sold Bay on boardwalk fries, just no vinegar.
You know you’re from maryland when you pick crabs before going to Camden yards to watch the O’s lose and eat some boardwalk fries and drink some bohtinis
Things i say (from Maryland)
When I say Baltimore I don’t say the L and the t is a d, like Bawdimore
I say maryland without the y and the d, like marelin
I don’t say the letter D when it’s the last letter of a word and there is another word after it, like old man or bad guy
I say my T’s as d’s, like whad are you talking about
P.s. the last two might just be characteristic of everyone in America
Born and raised I failed everything except for the crab and the aquarium
You know I didn’t realize I did number one until you said it
Okay maybe from anywhere but western Maryland. Born in raised in Garrett and Allegheny county MD and none of what you say apply to me
Sure you're not from Pittsburgh ❓one E an no H in ALLEGANY county ❗🤔
@@joekoelker9038 my autocorrect changed it and I didn’t notice it. Damn autocorrect!
@@mommaprepper I understand 👍 happens to me all the time 😊

If your mother's house is decorated like Lord Baltimore himself lived there, you are from Maryland.
If you emphasize the mama ooooh in bohemian rhapsody, your probably American
