  • In this video I show the use of the TYSEW TY-3600C-1 Cylinder Arm Sewing Machine for stitching leather. I discuss the need for an industrial sewing machine when sewing leather. I talk about how to reduce the speed of the machine and the difference between a flat-bed machine and a cylinder arm machine. I show how to make a flat-bed table for your cylinder arm machine and introduce a new video series about using a sewing machine to stitch leather.

    I would love to see how to install a speed reducer and also how to set up/use this machine as I've just purchased one as an upgrade from my old Singer Patcher 29k and have no clue how to use it! Any turtorials on thread/needle size, threading, tensioning, etc., would be greatly appreciated!

    Please show how you reduction system, and also how you made the flat bed table for it. I also have a question what do you think of the hand cranked Chinese sewing machine you can buy on amazon ?

      If I get more interest, I will do videos for these topics but I've only had one other request so far. I've no experience of the machine you mention. It looks ok in principle but requires a lot of setting up to get it working satisfactorily.

    Excellent video, thanks. I bought one of these beasts a couple of months ago and it's just the job. A big shout out for Tysew as a company - their customer service is just excellent. Looking forward to the forthcoming vids as I still have much to learn about using it for sewing leather (corners are my current bug bear!). On another matter, I have storage envy - did you make the cabinet for the plastic storage trays or, if not, where did you get it from?

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  3 года назад +3

      Thanks for your comment. You know... I get more questions about that cabinet that anything else. Maybe I'm in the wrong business. Maybe I should be selling the cabinets instead. Anyway... I may have to do a video on how to make them, as so many people seem to want to see how I made it. Take care.

    Found your video very interesting. I have the same machine. And would love to know how to make the flatbed table. As I use it for sewing leather. Look forward to your positive response

    Very good video. I just looked at three flatbed walking foot machines last week and realized I would not be able to sew all I that I could sew if I had a cylinder arm machine. I'm holding out for the cylinder arm. Besides the servo motor are there any advancements/innovations with the new cylinder arm machines that are worth considering? I've been looking for a vintage cylinder arm machines with reverse because of the price difference from new.

      Hi. I'm not an expert in sewing machines, so I would suggest you ask a dealer about recent innovations. Thanks.

    Hi , can you sew a sponge, for example, 2 cm with the artificial leather together? Are there disadvantages or not, Kind regards from Kosovo

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  2 года назад +1

      Yes you can. But sponge has no strength, so may tear if put under stress.

    Geordie, what machine can you recommend for a “longitudinal” sewing direction? Such that you can do top stitching along the seam of a sleeve for example? That the feed dog can rotate side ways?

    Thanks for the great video! That looks like a robust lump of a machine but I'm thinking of getting one, can you estimate the weight of the machine? I have to get mine up a flight of stairs and I'm wondering if that's even possible...or if I have to look at something else.
    Cheers!

    ...oh dear. A sewing machine retailer that actually displays prices for industrials and not insanely price models for 'hobbyists' available? O_O
    Makes me sad I'am in sweden, even with a pallet freight charge of ~300? it would be better then trying to get hold of one here. No idea what extra taxes will apply now that your outside the EU :(
