Hello friends! Unfortunately I had some severe delays receiving this online order (it took 3 weeks to arrive) due to the busy sales period (that I should have forseen) so a few items are no longer available due to selling out in the sale. In this instance if you see something you love, keep an eye out for that on the pre-loved market. As per usual with my try-on’s all these items are not items that I have bought for my wardrobe, so nothing is kept (I did love that chunky cashmere jumper though 😍). These try-on videos are just an exploration of current stock, looking at fit, style and quality to help you make an informed decision to buy if there was something you were already interested in. Tune in next week to see what I have actually bought over the last few months for my wardrobe. Thank you for watching and be sure to give me those brand requests for any future try-on/review videos in the comments x
I love your style and have loved your content for years. I’m disappointed in this new series you’re doing of buying a bunch of clothes that you’re not intending to keep. It feels antithetical to the ethos of your channel which is thoughtful consumerism and minimalism. Buying clothes you have no intention of keeping to return is a drain on the company, leaving them with stock that is less likely to sell now that it’s worn and older than current stock, and a drain on the planet, with packaging and shipping these garments back and forth. If you don’t intend to keep them, why not do try on videos at the store to eliminate the returns and carbon footprint? You have a beautiful wardrobe and I am interested in what you choose to add to it and how you style it, not seeing you try on clothes you know you don’t want.
@GotItAtGoodwill For the regular consumer, this kind of shopping without intending to keep anything is indeed bad for the exact reasons you have stated. However, I believe many people watch try-on hauls from influencers as a way to get a better feel for items they might already be interested in, to see a garment on a person in a different lighting and styling than on the website, have someone tell them about the handfeel and quality, and to decide whether or not this garment might work for them without having to order these items themselves to find out. So I would argue, for these kind of people in the audience their returns are diminished because they are able to make a better informed decision beforehand.
@@leoniep9231that’s exactly why I make them and probably why they’ve been requested. There are plenty of items I could happily have kept because I really liked them, but I just don’t need them so there’s no point in me keeping them.
@@GotItAtGoodwillI completely understand your point and it’s very fair but the requests for these types of videos far outweigh the opposing view and I think, at least from prior feedback, it’s because it informs people. By one person creating videos trying on current items this may provide enough insight and information that prevents others from wasting an order of items they’ll only need to return. Maybe if trousers are too short for me then it saves another long-legged person from ordering them, if a fabric isn’t as desired, the fit isn’t right etc etc. I no longer live in London and my closest shopping area (still 45 mins away) is Bluewater, where there is no Cos so I don’t have a store to do this in and lighting, music, space and other factors can also create difficulties doing this in store.
I love COS due to its quality, and up-to-date design. Even though their cut doesn't suit me sometimes and its price also could be lower. Thank you for this helpful video. For many of your followers, it can save money or vice versa inspiring them to make an order.
Thank you Emma! So useful I’m a mum of 3 little ones and NEVER get to go shopping anymore so it’s all online, so seeing you try on it helps me make much better choices and reduces the amount of sending back/ordering more than one size 🙏🥰
Nice that you're back! Lóve the vlog! Yes, the COS t-shirts have changed unfortunately. What I do, I've ordered the H&M men's t-shirts. Good fit, good quality and they are longer!
Hi Emma, you picked out several items that were my COS favorites, which I had purchased on Black Friday here in the US. Especially the beige and brown coats! As these were much more expensive in USD, I returned them, hoping for a sale... alas, they have sold out at full price 🤣 Also living in Chicago, these are more like fall/early winter coats, making them less versatile for that higher price. Thank you for the great video. Loved the tidbits you gave on styling, too ❤
The pairing of jumpers, jeans and coats has given me ideas that i will use in my own wardrobe finding clothes I like isn't a problem but how to complete the look is .thanks Emma
I’m glad to hear that 🙌🏼 Cos it just elevated basics so it’s more than likely that many people, especially with a style similar to mine, may already own similar items to style 🙌🏼
Happy New Year to you! Glad to see you back here. Can you do an Arket try on please! Since I can't get it here in the States I need to live vicariously through you. 😊
Glad I saw your video because the trousers that are short on you will be really long on me. I am so fed up with having to hem my purchases, expensive too. So almost caving to barrel legs just to for once get a length that is normal on my petite frame.
Mine too, I could have easily kept the chunky cashmere and the waisted one. Even the mohair was tempting (with a longer basic underneath) because I can’t resist stripes 🤣🙈
Nathaniel you so much for sharing the feedback on the trousers especially with proportion to your inseam - as a person with 30 inch inseam I would definitely consider them since I have hard time finding cropped pairs that hit just right!
Hi Emma! You should try Roberto Verino and Adolfo Dominguez. I think their style is somehow similar to Massimo Dutti, but the quality is much better. They price range is higher, but theyy are now on sale ❤
I feel exactly same about the length of COS Tshirts. They are little too short to feel comfortable in it. For me it’s impossible to wear with my midrise jeans.
Hi Emma, I ask you if you have my same problem with wool trousers: I recently bought a COS wool skort, really fantastic, but after few hours of sitting, it creases a lot, which I don’t like. I ask you if you had the same experience .I'd appreciate your reply. Thanks Gemma
Emma, great video! Would love it if you could do a review of classic organic cotton white button-down shirts. I’m always looking for the perfect one. 😊
Great video Emma, I bought my daughter a jeans from there (in the fysical shop with her alongside) It was a mom jeans dark blue wash, but with a mom jean you can alter the fit by going bit bigger etc... She took her normal size and she really had the luck with it bc it looked like it was tailored for her.. & it was real sturdy denim ✌🏻❄️
I agree the denim is nice. I actually have 3 pairs of Cos jeans myself but because I spoke about them for so long Simon cut that out of the video. I’ll have to do a high street denim video so I can cover all bases but it definitely depends on which style you go for because they’re all so different.
All the short trousers made me laugh Emma because I too struggle with that at 5’8 😅 To add insult to injury everything seems to be cropped nowadays. Patiently waiting for an “extra long trousers” trend.
Hi Emma, Happy New Year! ❤ Thanks for this video. I love Cos, but I find there trousers too short for me too. I bought the long sleeve stripe top in October. I agree that it’s slim fitting, and I wear mine with my black blazer. I would love you to do a video with Arket. It’s my favourite brand and I just love the quality. Xx
Though the Cos jeans didn't fit, I can vouch for them. I have two pairs -- one that's a few years old. They're 100% cotton, have a good solid weight, hold up to washing VERY well, and fit great. I always get high rise jeans and the two I have fit beautifully in that regard. Like you said, with Cos jeans, one must choose the style carefully to figure out if the length is longer or shorter. I hope this helps balance Emma's impression.
I actually have 3 pairs of Cos jeans myself, all different styles. One pair is so long even I have to turn them up. But Simon cut this from the video as I must have been talking about them for some time 🥴🤣
@@EmmaHill We'll have to explain to Simon that so much that goes into the right pair of jeans! What's your verdict on Cos jeans? I think they're great--quality, cost, wear and tear--and very underrated as long as a person knows what fit works best for them.
Hello dear Emma, I started following you as I love COS. Thanks for your videos! Can you do a review of Goelia? I've just recently discovered this brand, but haven't purchased anything yet. It appears to be nice quality for a decent price.
I actually like my winter pants shorter…with boots mostly. Because of sloppy snow. But that first pair with the elastic back looked like trousers even my mum wouldn’t wear….wool or not. And the second pair were better but somewhere along the line I’d take a Sharpie to that white button hole. Makes them look very cruisewear.
I think ‘not washing’ is really impractical advice and simply not realistic for the average person. I wash all my jumpers but it depends on the fabric as to how they’re washed. If you check my ‘care for what you wear’ playlist you’ll find some handy videos there x
