    Pippen led the Bulls to 55 wins and was a Hugh Hollins phantom foul away from beating the Knicks and almost certainly moving on to the NBA finals given their ECF matchup with Indiana. The next season Pippen become one of only four players to lead his team in all five major statistical categories. Those were the only two seasons during the prime of his career that he played without Jordan and I'd say he passed with flying colors. He also won six championships as one of the best players in basketball. Since Bill Russell, the only star players to win six titles are Kareem, Jordan, and Pippen.
    When he retired he had surpassed Larry Bird as number 1 in assists all time at the forward position, since being passed up only by Lebron. And aside from being one of 4 players to lead his team in all major statistical categories for a single season, he is also one of only 3 player to record 200 steals and 100 blocks in a single season. He is the only player in NBA history to accomplish both of those feats in his career.
    Scottie Pippen is one of the best to ever do it, and when he and Jordan figured it out in '91, the rest of the league was literally fucked. Only MJ's two year hiatus from basketball stopped the Bulls from entering into 1960's Celtics territory. People talk about Shaq and Kobe and how dominate they were, but they only won half of the championships as MJ and Pip and they lost to the likes of San Antonio and Detroit, whereas the Bulls didn't lose a single playoff series the last six years that MJ and Pippen played a whole season together. Kareem and Magic, likewise, were not as dominate as Jordan and Pippen were, winning one less championship. And yet people say that Kareem and Magic are both indisputably top 10 (some put them in their top 5). If Shaq and Kobe are top 10 all time, and Kareem and Magic are top ten all time, then why aren't both Jordan AND Pippen top ten all time?

    • @sideshowbobsaget8876
      @sideshowbobsaget8876 Год назад +1

      Because they all have MVPs & FMVP, they all led their teams to the Finals and to victory. Pippen isn't even a top 5 player of the 90s so it would be hard for him to be ranked top ten all-time.

    • @williamkoscielniak7871
      @williamkoscielniak7871 Год назад +2

      @@sideshowbobsaget8876 I understand that he didn't win MVP's or FMVP's but those are media awards, and it's extremely difficult to win those when Michael Jordan is your teammate. As far as top 5 in his decade, I disagree. He was the best or second best at everything on a team that won 6 championships. I'm talking scoring, assisting, rebounding, and defense. Very few players are that good at everything on a championship winning team, and he did it six times. Other than MJ and Hakeem, I don't know what other players are better than Pippen in the 90's. You can point to individual stats and accolades and what not, but what other players had the impact he had on winning? Afterall, winning championships is the entire point of the game, and he proved that he could be a top two player and top two at everything on a team that won the championship 6 times.

    • @sideshowbobsaget8876
      @sideshowbobsaget8876 Год назад +1

      @@williamkoscielniak7871 Pippen wouldn't have won MVP even if he didn't play with Jordan. 95% of MVPs & FMVPs goes to the right/deserving player. Hakeem, Robinson, Malone, Barkley, Ewing, Shaq and Drexler were better than Pippen and all besides Robinson led their teams to the Finals. If I was starting a franchise I would take those guys over Pippen, I would also take those guys over Pippen to pair up with Jordan. They most likely win before 91.
      I'm not gonna take or rank T.Parker over Nash because of team success. I would pick Nash to start a franchise and i would pick Nash to pair up with Duncan over Parker.
      I understand what you're saying though, I just can't say Pippen was more impactful than those guys.

    • @fratgunduz2462
      @fratgunduz2462 Год назад +2

      I find this unlogical.
      You take those guys over Pippen for a successful franchise, while all those guys are literally victims of Pip, not just Mike.
      Pippen is the best raw talent in nba history that impacted the gamed. The only single aspect he lacked in the game was a stable shooting style as a continuous high score source.
      Now imagine a player, plays all other aspects of the game to the absolute highest level, mostly perfection. And these aspects together produce a huge and direct contribution to winning.
      I would ignore loosing 5-6 points a game and take Pip next to Mike over other 25+ scoring stars.
      I also dont believe those media awards are rightly given too. While a player with 200 steals and 100 blocks doesnt get DPOY award.
      Btw if Pippen had a stable super scoring shoot, this would have been a cheat in the game.

    I know that was a terrible call on pippen in game 5 against the Knicks in the Eastern conference semifinals in 1994 but the bulls had the chance to acquired Jeff hornacek from the sixers before the jazz did before the trade deadline All the sixers wanted was the bulls first round pick in 1994 but Jerry Krause refused the deal because he didn't want to trade 1994 draft pick the jazz made the trade with the sixers and the player the jazz ended up draft was bj Tyler out of Texas and the bulls drafted dickey simpkins a bust in the first round 1994. Krause made a huge mistake by not making that deal because the bulls needed two more shooters and hornacek would have helped the bulls alot and by the way the jazz went to the 1994 Western conference finals in 1994. I believe the bulls beat the Knicks in 1994 and the pacers in the Eastern conference finals and make the finals in 1994 if Krause makes that deal because the bulls blew leads in that series in the 4th and hornacek would have helped the bulls maintain those leads.

      I agree, Krause and the upper management didn't very little to add to the Bulls roster to help Scottie. But David Stern didn't want the Bulls to get back to the Finals without Jordan, many believed it would have lessened Jordan's legacy for Phil Jackson and Pippen to win it all without Jordan. Scottie definitely would have ranked higher if they would have accomplished that goal.

    Pippen was/is my all-time favorite player. The year Hakeem won the NBA MVP should've gone to Pippen as he lead the team in 5 categories. However, I am not a fan of the Jordan bashing these past few years. They accomplished sooo much together. Why tarnish the great history now? Yes, he was underrated and not paid accordingly, but no need to besmirch the past accomplishments.

  • @bleedingkansai9961

    What Pippen did this season was commendable considering the internal issues going on within the Bulls's oft-dysfunctional organization. Besides, he would never really have the time nor chance to get a ring without Michael the same way Kobe did without Shaq; it took Kobe 7 seasons to get his own. And by the time the Bulls dynasty was broken up, Pippen had become already a shell of his mid-90s self due to back injuries. Fate wasn't as kind to his career as it was for Michael.

    Pippen not winning MVP and Phil Jackson not winning Coach of the Year in the 1993-1994 was a big joke. It should have been obvious. Most experts predicted the Bulls to be a lottery team that year. They won 55 games and came a very questionable call away from making it to the Conference Finals and who knows how far they would have gone. Nonetheless they went toe to toe with the Knicks in the semifinals and lost in 7 tough/competitive games.
