I'm a legal immigrant and went through the long, arduous and expensive process of getting a greencard. I made sure I wasn't a burden to this country by working full time and paying taxes. Watching illegal migrants cross the border with zero impunity is a slap on the face.

My husband has had his VA doctor appointments cancelled because resources were sent to the border.
We tried from the time my Dad passed away until my Mom joined him to get her Survivors benefits. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran and she never received a penny from the VA. Every single time, we submitted the paperwork, It was returned, with another excuse.

I worked as a cna until my health failed we have men who risked their lives for us to have choices and they are living in nasty nursing homes being given 25.00 a month to cover their personal needs we should be embarrassed at how this system does not work. I today deal with PTSD from what I went through as an aide the conditions were so horrible that they finally in March of this year shut the place down. It was listed for more than five years as one of the worst nursing home in America. What upsets me the most is these horrible aides are now working in other homes I told my family that if a nursing home is my only option I will end my life the horrors that happen will be shocking and as illegals take over our country this will only get worse as there is no work ethic left in America. For the first time in my life I am ashamed of my country and embarrassed.

I'm an immigrant who is most grateful to be an American citizen. My family and I have brought much to the table and have always been of service for the betterment of our great nation and for our fellow U.S. citizens. Our reward is the American dream. There are still many immigrants who are good, hard-working souls willing to follow the LEGAL immigration process to be able to do the same. However, many of the illegal migrants of today are simply here to take advantage of our broken system and sow seeds of chaos while American citizens and veterans in need are consistently cast to the side. This is shameful and must change immediately. We are only as good as the lessons we learn from our mistakes and our actions that follow.

I lived in other countries and then I left. I lived in Colombia first, I went there with a work visa to only teach English. I let that Visa expire accidentally being so naive. I was only 22, I left the country within that year. 7 years later I went back for a wedding with a return ticket home even, and their immigration people came after me to pay everything that I needed to pay for living in their country illegally which was 7 years ago from the time that I went for that wedding. I'm an American and if a third world country can enforce immigration laws then we need to.

There were already immigration laws in place. There isn't a need to pass new legislation. Biden told border patrol to not enforce even the immigration laws that were in place before president Trump changed it to the remain in Mexico policy. Biden got rid of Trump's policies and opened the border.

As a person whose own country, i.e., the UK, is struggling with dinghy divers , the US seriously needs to limit the numbers of people. In America, Heritage foundation says from 1960 ending 2023 US has paid out over $93 trillion in Generational Welfare Benefits (recipients are over 49.7% African American; 36% Spanish decent, 14.3% others); these people don't care about uplifting themselves; there are more abuses of welfare than the ones who actually need what was supposed to be TEMPORARY benefits. In one family, the grandmother, mother, daughter and granddaughter have at least two + kids thus collect free rent, free insurance, free apartment, free food. Now this video says $451 Billion per year on illegal border migrants is being spent!! Yet, 74 year old's are forced to go to work to pay for their rent, mortgage, medicine, food. Why should a 65 year old be forced to pay for American Medicare BUT the 15+ year old, with a child(ren), who never worked in her life is given free Medicaid and Welfare?? Why should American Veterans be homeless?
I'm worried about the people left behind in other countries there the weak and the poor who will help them America cant take on the entire worlds population HOW WOULD THAT EVER WORK

I’m not unsympathetic to the people fleeing their 3rd world countries in hopes of something better here. But it isn’t our job to save the world or to police global affairs.
It is the job of those elected to lead us to ensure the security and prosperity of this nation.
With that being said. Universities are “NOT” producing talented, bright, ambitious individuals the way they perhaps once did. We “NEED” innovators. We “NEED” engineers who will develop the technologies of the future. We “NEED” scientists who will make paradigm shifting discoveries, and we “NEED” entrepreneurs who will continue to fuel and build the nations economic prosperity.
There are people from India, South Africa, Latin America, and other developing countries who believe in what America is “supposed” to stand for. It is those individuals for whom a more dedicated, more proactive system should exist to offer citizenship, the means, and incentives to pursue their dreams and strengthen our country in so doing.
As more the millions of undocumented migrants claiming refugee status. I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I’m sorry for your situation back home. And im sorry, but this nation can’t afford to take you all in.
Maybe someone else has a better idea on what to do with these people, but the best solution I can think of is a workplace sponsorship program. Wherein companies or local small businesses with an interest in lending aid to these migrants could conduct interviews with those applying for citizenship or asylum, and at their discretion offer them a workplace sponsorship. There are “many” other issues to be sorted out with this concept but ideally “if” it works correctly, those offered a sponsorship would have affordable housing, reasonable pay, and an opportunity, highly encouraged to attend a community college course in a STEM field or trade school.
While this would be my proposal to the influx of migrants, I strongly believe that the first priority should be fixing our “own” homeless and impoverished communities. “Only” once that issue has been treated, has a cast on it, and is on track to make a full or atleast 90% recovery should we turn our focus on helping those knocking on our door for help

Good ideas also for citizens unable to afford basics in America. Give low income of any race an opportunity to learn a well paying skill.

Ehh I am from a Western country and migration to USA legally is a long and devastating process. Most ppl dont understand what years of insecurity and inability to plan does to a person... Illegal immigration made the queues even worse.
That is by design, it's to winnow out the people who are just going to come and go on the dole from people who will come and provide value to Americans as another American. We have enough domestic freeloaders, we don't need to import more.

At some point, they'll quit handing out everything for free and these illegal immigrants will be rioting and causing more chaos than they already are. They do not want to assimilate. They are offered free classes to learn English and most aren't taking those classes. They want the free stuff they were promised and will just take what they want.
