Yes, this is an optional wide-angle mirror 0:51. This used to be a common accessory on Japanese cars built in the 1990s and early 2000s to assist with parking and essentially eliminate the blind spot when you are overtaken by someone. Nowadays it is often replaced by a special wide-angle glass element factory installed in the side mirrors. More recently, newer cars have blind spot monitoring systems which activate a small triangular symbol visible in the side mirror. The symbol illuminates orange when a car or motorcycle is detected in the blind spot.
