I love me some Sly Stone I'm still hurt that as a little girl here in Chicago that we waited so long all day I had on my American Flag head band and the next thing I know is that Old Mayor Daley wouldn't let him perform and the Band Shell the next thing I know it started raining beer bottles .A riot broke out , police cars got turned over and tear gas was in the air . I've been loving Sly and The Family Stones since the 60's and I'm still hurt I haven't got a chance to see him perform till this day . I would love to see him perform . I truly hope God will he will be coming back to Chicago .
Thanks for pulling this interview up - so beautiful seeing & hearing these 3 amazing1960’s Icon’s of music & humanitarians talking about their links. If anything is needed to remind us why we’ve got to this point in life, then these wonderful people are a big part of it - and we still need the wisdom to keep on track. Thanks again - such a joy! Sly, numero uno master of funk. Thank you for all the great music! You had so much Funk, R and B, Rock and Pop and ive been tuned in since the 60s. Even on your time off your lyrics and riffs filling my head. The world is so wacked today, its turned upside down. Lots of writing material out there.
Very few comments on here. Oh ! What a shame that people age 40 and under don't know who SLy is. It's really not a old people thing. If you don't believe me. , just get on RUclips and LISTEN to his songs such as Every Day People. Look it up !! You will get hooked on it. That type of greatness will never die. I PROMISE YOU THAT !!!****
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing You Tube for letting people enjoying music fun times people enjoying life being yourself is a real gift from God no matter who you are you do yourself because this is me Linda j. ☮️☮️☮️☮️
I saw their band, "The Family Stone" it might've been called. Sly wasn't there, but it was Cynthia, Jerry, a hot black singer and others. They were great! Jerry mentioned multiple times how much they and the world owe to Sly. He was heaping the praise, rightly so. Sly influenced alot of bands...the Tower of Power being one.
Sly was the music of my generation. The seventies parties was nothing with Sly. I hope he gets his royalties so that he can live better. They are still giving out bum contracts to black artists.
Sly was simply amazing! We are all grateful for the amazing tracks he left for us to hear over and over, again...
No one changed Music like Sly.
No one had a song like Dance to the Music which hit the airwaves 1969.
I was 12 and got hooked on Soul.
Dance To The Music ,
came out in 1968.
@@briancompton6326 Don't think it came out in NZ till 1969.
God bless Slu and the Family Stone the original funk and soul band that started it all. RIP Cynthia Robinson.
Slu?
That was a typo, i meant Sly

APRIL YOU ARE TALKING CORRECTLY SO JOIN THE ,,SLY AND FAMILY STONE NATION ON FACE,,
The know "Everyday People" as the Toyota (?) commercial song. 🙄 Not as a composition of its own timelessness & greatness.
"Higher" is a very good overview disc. Can't WAIT to dig deeper into those original Long-Playing records (CDs)!

At that time when they broke, they introduced multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-gender, making the world a better, more diverse place.

Sylvine B I really wish he had collaborated with Prince like Larry Graham did.
These were the originals. Where's Larry?
Didn't Jerry martini also collaborate with Prince ????
rspexperiment It would of been so cool to see prince with Sly Stone. I guess you know Cynthia Robinson has since passed away..
