  • Today, we'll take apart the Quietcarry Waypoint knife, and see stainless materials everywhere, nice internal milling, and a whole bunch of smooth. Nice.

    I’ve had this knife for approximately 3 months and it’s one of my favorites!
    From the action to the slim and relatively lightweight design (2.7 oz) and the wire deep carry clip just fantastic!
    Being completely rust proof is a big bonus.
    The Vanax blade came very sharp is very thin slicey.
    At $300 it’s not cheap and the only “negative” thing about it...but I guess you get what you pay for.
    Excellent EDC knife!

    The moment you opened this one it hit a soft spot. My personal taste lays with the slightly bigger knives, but this just looks perfect...

    i picked up a Quiet Carry Chase. Been very impressed with it so far (after I polished the washers). Over all it's solid, and LC200N on blade both liners! I think my main plight is the asymmetrical edge bevels. But that'll be something that can be fixed in time. It still cuts like a laser

    I got this knife and after a few days I asked Quietcarry for a set of replacement screws and washers. They said yes for $25. So it’s on the way. My logic was that I order it whilst the knife is current as it might be harder to get when the knife is EoL. Quietcarry told me this knife won’t be EoL anytime soon.
    Probably the replacement screws and washers might be standerd for most of their knife range.

    Just noticed mine from the November restock has a totally different skeletonization milling on the show side scale. Instead of one large cut-out, there are three large (~1.5cm) and two small (~1cm) circles milled in. Wonder why they made the change! (Clip side appears the same.)

    Would be interested to see how you think the Waypoint measures upto a Sebenza or even a tricked out Bugout with titanium scales, I know that is a broad range but for me the corrosion resistance, light weight, slim carry, deep carry and build quality/design all weighed up with the cost to make it a compelling choice.

    • @everydaycarry1328
      @everydaycarry1328 3 года назад +1

      I have both the Waypoint and a titanium scale Bugout and your wanting a comparison is a damn good one!
      It would be a hard choice being the Vanax blade a little win for the Waypoint vs American made a little plus for the Ti Bugout.
      I wouldn’t want to have to make that decision!

    • @bunyipdan
      @bunyipdan 3 года назад

      @@everydaycarry1328 Yeah...nobody seems to throw out the final cost and weight of a mod'd bugout, as an old salty dog vanax call is strong, and priced well considering. Is it bad that I consider myself a child of the world and am not so fussed by not knowing exactly where it was built?

      I'm pretty sure the parts are manufactured in Taiwan and the USA. I also believe the heat treat is done by Peter's in PA, on this type of blade steel at least.

    If you're wondering about Quiet Carry, you must REALLY be pondering Terrain 365. They're using Terravantium. "Terravantium is not steel. It is a dendritic cobalt alloy. It is non-magnetic, cannot rust, and has superior edge retention to any steel." Rex 121 could not be reached for comment.

    Besides the high price and small size, I do not like the assembly of parts made in undisclosed factories. Secrecy can be a good thing, but, in a world full of deception, I would not pay much for a product with undisclosed makers.
