    Thanks SO MUCH for sharing that Q Tip on the axis lock tip Nick! And thanks to Notorious EDC for sharing it with you. Just put some Original Goat scales on my Deka today and was having a nightmarish time getting the pivot back in. Took probably 15 seconds to get it back together with your trick.

    The positioning of the omega spring suggests that they put as big a spring as would fit to limit the amount of wear it sees. It's a nice detail. I also like how the steel liner rests on a back spacer to limit the flex of the knife.

    What size were the bits used? 6? 8?
    How do you change the scales? Deal with the springs, etc.
    Thanks

    why are there no axis lock knives with bushings? bushings feel like a simple way to have consistent action with all the complexity near the pivot.

    • @dooshlerd
      @dooshlerd 2 года назад +1

      I'd imagine cost. Bushings aren't cheap to engineer and manufacture. We could see it from like TRM, but few other shops would be willing to shell out the cash for that kind of ultra high precision.

    Love you videos Nick ! So I should have watched a video before I swapped out my crappy factory plastic scales on my Deka V2 Magnacut with some Jade G10 ones.
    I have it all back together but not really sure I have the pivot back in the right way. I removed both factory scales then put the new G10 ones on. I'm thinking I don't have my pivot all the way in because once I got it all back together and the blade centered, there's some blade play. If I tighten the pivot up more to eliminate the blade play, then the blade doesn't deploy or drop shut as smoothly as it did before. It actually doesn't open very freely at all until I loosen the pivot back up to the point there's some blade play. I'm going to have to take it all apart and try again. I just ordered the pivot alignment tool off of Etsy . Hopefully this will fix me up. Any more tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    I have this knife and I'm looking at the pocket clip. How do you remove the 2nd pocket clip screw? The hole above the screws doesn't align with both screws and I can't get a perpendicular seating into the deeper screw with my driver.

    These are such a nightmare for me put together 😫 I just wanted to swap scales lol I’ve given up for the day, gonna try again tomorrow

      Yup, me too ! I bought some Jade G10 scales to replace the crappy plastic ones that came on my Deka V2 Magnacut.
      I'm not sure I have the pivot in right. Once I tighten the pivot enough to eliminate blade play, it doesn't open or drop shut very easily at all. I just ordered a Pivot Alignment Tool off of Etsy that I seen someone use on another video to help reinstall the pivot. Once it comes in, I'm going to take it all apart and try again 🤞

    Thanks for another good video Nick. This is why I subscribe to your channel. Earlier this week I received a new Hogue Deka with black G-10 scales. So far I am not sure how much I like it. I took it apart and found quite a bit of grease (?) on the inside of the scales and around the pivot. After cleaning and re-assembly things seem to be working fine, for the most part. Being rather old and clumsy I am not able to do the reverse flick you do so often. When I open the knife I use the thumb studs in a conventional way. The knife opens easily but it is not making much of a sound like yours does when doing the reverse flick. In fact, it sounds like everything is made of plastic; not helpful for my tough-guy image. Do you have any suggestions as to why it works like this? For what it is worth, the knife sounded this way right out of the box. Sorry for the long comment/question; I do not have any social media accounts. Your comment about the ground up peacock was hilarious. I am not a fan of any kind of rainbow scales. "G-mascus", give me a break.

    I put oversized bronze phosphate washers in my Bugout to eliminate blade play and get a smoother deployment. Can I use these same oversized washers in the Deka?

    • @IvanMalechko
      @IvanMalechko 10 месяцев назад

      They are already quite larger than the ones in the bugout, so no need to worry.

    Does the BM pivot alignment tool you bought on Etsy work on the Hogue?

    • @abc456f
      @abc456f 2 года назад +2

      I haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking it should. On second thought, I actually am not sure if the sizing of the tool will match the pivot hole. My deka's v2 action came so perfect out of the box that I have no need to disassemble it. Same with my k320. I find that the Hogue able lock is far superior to Benchmade's axis lock. I own about seven or eight Benchmade's, and only one, the large crooked river, falls shut without any wrist action. Both of my Hogue's drop shut fresh out of the box. I've read that Hogue uses Wolff springs for their omega type springs. Wolff makes heavy duty springs for firearms and are definitely of a higher quality than Benchmade's omega springs.

    the plastic scales feel cheap and this knife now feels like a spyderco.. terrible decision to go plastic

    • @abc456f
      @abc456f 2 года назад +4

      If these scales feel cheap to you, I wonder if you have an original Benchmade bugout. Now those are some cheap plastic scales that you can squeeze to the point where the scales can touch each other.
      The deka's scales are g10 and do not flex.
