Meet the resilient gosling who defied the odds, the sole survivor of its brood, now thriving at three weeks old

That's way above the average mortality rate in the US. It's possible a more aggressive family assimilated their other goslings into their own brood. It happens quite a lot in the first couple weeks of life for goslings. After the two week period, the goslings are firmly imprinted on their parent geese, and gosling swapping stops happening.
