    Many years ago I tried a clay bar dry because I had no idea what I was doing. There was a mysterious film all over my shiny black motorcycle. When I looked on Amazon I saw Chemical Guys clay bar and LUBE! It came today but to avoid my earlier disaster I watched this video. My bike looks and feels new again! Thank you!

      It’s possible, especially if your clear is on the softer side it can leave some marring. I usually like to polish after claying since it is usually time for it anyways. You can do a quick paint enhancement with something like V38 on a foam polishing pad if the paint is in overall good shape.

    • @STILLNIGHTPEARL

      You can use it, but the problem with an aggressive clay bar is that it leaves marring on the paint finish, this usually looks like a haze over the paint, to remove that you need to polish it out with something like V36 or V38. If the clear is on the harder side then you might get away with using the aggressive clay bar, and skipping the polishing step since there’s no marring, but you won’t know until you try it.

In one video? My task is... '08 Saab, prior waxing is just starting to come off. So I need to wash the surface which includes stripping all prior product to prepare it for I assume, clay-ing, then moving on to a wax phase to lock everything down. Do I have that somewhat right?

    Just got a new car and I’m going to detail it this weekend. Planning on using the light bar. How often should you clay bar a car?

    Hey Joey, what about clay bars or synthetic clay? After watching one of the Chemical Guy's vids about clay blocks I went out and bought one. I do not see not see if it is a light, medium, etc on the package. Is there only one level of clay block? Inquiring minds want to know... Great vid BTW...

      Hey there! A Clay Block can be utilized as a maintenance, so it can remove light to medium contaminants on your vehicle.

    Have a 2017 Camry and a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 where a worker had some very light spray contaminant from spray painting a fence land on both cars. It didn't discolor the paint, but both have a rough texture now. Will a Clay Bar take off this texture? As these cars are garage kept and waxed 5-6 times a year-What level bar should I buy?

    Silver car what clay to use

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  3 года назад

      Hi there! After washing the vehicle inspect the paint to determine which clay bar is best suited for the job. A Light Clay Bar is best for new or routinely detailed vehicles. An OG Bar works for light to moderate contamination. Use a Medium Bar for moderate to heavy contamination as well as over spray and finally if the surface still feels rough or contamination is visible, use a Heavy Duty Clay Bar.

    So they are building houses across the street from me and the morons decided to paint on a windy day now I have a very fine white paint over spray on my black car. I used a fine grade clay bar to remove it from my windows but it was quite the workout and it is not feasible to do this to the whole car. You really can't see the over-spray unless you are like a foot away from the paint, but I still need to remove it. Do you guys suggest a medium grade clay or a aggressive grade clay so that i don't kill my arm removing it? I will be doing a machine polish with a light finishing polish after claying.
