Ive had aluminum Spidertrax 1.5 spacers on my rear axle for 6yrs or more. Properly installed with locktite and torqued. I check them any time I have the wheel off. Never had a single loose lug nut. The trick is you MUST check them a few times within the first few hundred miles. They will need a retorque as the lugs seat into the tapered bore. Once they get seated and are re-tightened. They will not give you any issues. Basically just like seating a new steel rim. If you dont retorque they will come loose.
Safety First! Pretty crazy you did a pre trip on your rig and noticed an issue and continued on your adventure! Life is precious my friend be careful out there.
😂 yeah.. well.. I was still hours from home. I was going to pay to have it towed all the way back home. The first time I checked, when I noticed it was loose, it didn’t seem too bad. Definitely loose but not “holy shit” loose. But when we stopped to check it again, I noticed it had gotten much worse in a very short period. Then I wasn’t going to drive it..
Stainless steel wheel adapters are the only safe option for a spacer on a truck. They do make them. Ditch the aluminums. Glad you made it back in one piece. Daryle had a wheel bearing almost come off on the last trip. Crazy stuff.
I installed the Z-1 1 inch spacers on my 2023 PRO4X, and no issues. Z-1 says 88 ft lbs for the nuts to the spacers, and 98 ft lbs for the nuts to the wheels. The transmission issue, may have to do with the gearing. You are running much larger tires and the ECM is programmed for the OEM tire size, this could affect the trans shifting. Larger tires is not always correct when off roading, consider dropping a tire size and going a little narrower. Just my opinion.
New to the scene and all the things 4wheel... How bad are those fenders going to tickle your eyeballs, and if said tickle is bad enough... Would you replace them? @@4wdAdventurz
Haha had the same thing happen to my rear fenders on a trail, middle of nowhere with nothing but ratchet straps ended up strapping everything and pulling it back to get home. Guess that’s what you gotta live with when you wheel with aggressive tires
On your snorkel, there shouldn't be that much of a gap. I imagine that when you went through the brush a while back, you pulled it away from the fender. I would be that if you pull it off, the fender holes for the studs will be pulled out. Still solid because the bolts are just as tight as normal, but your mounting surfaces have now been stretched away from the truck. Hammer and dolly would get them back in position easy enough. This is actually pretty common with a snorkel when going through tight areas. Good thing you caught the spacers coming loose, that would have been a very bad day. Do check those studs because of the movement they endured with the spacers. Don't want them being fatigued and failing now that you have the spacer removed.
That’s scary stuff my dad and friends checked there spacers before they left off road cause of there reputation. Crow is that west side area you been going
No loc tite? When I installed my spidertrax spacers it had me put loc tite on it. It also has to be torqued to 130 ft lbs. Between the two, I’ve never had an issue. Regardless, I don’t like the extra failure point, so getting new rims this month with a more aggressive offset rather than spacers.
Right mine are Z1 6x114.3 to 6x139.7 adapter spacers hub centric plus I put another hub centric rings to make sure the wheels fit good and flush. I have to torque mine to 99lbs plus I use permatex orange threadlocker but can stil be broken loose with tools. So far they have held up over a year now.
@@4wdAdventurz $20 torch from Home Depot fixed that issue for me. Ask me how I know. 😂 I’ll be taking mine off here in the next couple weeks. Basically, whenever the weather is nice after they arrive. An impact helps a lot, too.
Titan and Frontier both use the same M226 differential The axle housing on the titan is wider overall so you will need to cut off and relocate the spring perches to match the Frontiers leaf locations. You'll also need to swap the hubs to the Frontier spec 6x114.3 or swap the front hubs to the Titan spec 6x139 hubs....swapping hubs to the titan spec will require new wheels in a 6x139 pattern
Appears that the wheel spacer was not properly torqued and/or no locktite used. I have no experience with them, only what I have read and watched on video, but all who use them say proper installation is critical.
I was going to say lazy install was the issue . I've ran spacers on almost every vehicle I've owned over the last 18 years of driving... I have never had an issue . I currently have 2.5 inch spacers on my off-road rig and they have been on for 2 years and 20,000km
I had the same issue with trans. Get an update at the Nissan dealer. It’s free. Hasn’t happened to me since. That “clunk” down shift when slowing down to a stop, yeah?
It’s possible. I did the installation myself. But I definitely tighten them down just as much as I do the wheels themselves. Never had a problem with the wheels coming off 🤷🏼♂️
Spacers are more for looks anyway. Glad nothing happened bubba. Question. Since you do some serious off roading, what can you do to the Frontier to improve its capabilities?
I got z1 spacers and beat the living hell out of them at hurricane Creek in NC where i live and im in Dayton Ohio right now it was a 7 hr drive i was doing 85 almost the whole way they worked great. I know z1 are hub centric so maybe those you got are not but i went the extra mile and dabbed red loctite on mine. I saw ado did a tswap video and put red loctite on mikes spacers so i figured why not i definitely dont want any issues like you had. 1.5 in spacers if they are a good brand like spider trax or z1 wouldn't be a issue as long as they are torqued to spec and have loctite but i see people doing 3 in and wouldn't necessarily recommend ones that big but i would not use spacers on ifs. Only the rear to match the tswap width up front.
You always want to loctite wheel spacers. Spidertrax even includes it with their spacers. Loctite and correct torque specs and you'll never have an issue with them.
I havent even got thru the video and i knew it was the wheel spacers...idc what brand you buy or how long so and so ran them they are dangerous to you & everyone else on the road

Buy the extended Z1 hood struts. Worth it

Howdy from Jax. I like that Frontier! Too bad we don't see more on the trails!
They're underrated for sure! Thanks for watching buddy!

That's one reason I will never use spacers! Looks good but not worth it.
I kept frontier width on the rear for this reason.
Stronger, less stress, less moving parts, and less bed sides getting ripped out
The bed sides is really due to me not lifting the rear enough and not removing those mud flaps. The rear probably sits 1-2” lower than the front..

Wait till yall spin a socket on those shallow lug nuts w loctite and 130ft lbs
I was honestly reluctant to put Loctite on them because I knew I wasn’t gonna have them on here forever and didn’t want to not be able to get them off
