in our HOA, the Board took a loan of 400,000 from bank on homeowners behalf without our approval. The Board that has never been duly elected. In fact for the past 35 years, there were never elections held for the Board of the Directors. I think that they embezzle our funds together with the management company owner. . The President of the hoa held that title for the past 15 years, while our life became miserable, many sold their homes to investors who bring in the undocumented migrants. During HOA annual meetings we are not allowed to vote a new Board . The mgmt company and the President of the HOA, take care to not inform all owners about the date of the annual meeting, so that is never a majority to vote new HOA Board. But the current board was never duly elected . The reserve funds are gone...they supposed to have enough funds because they collect 40,000/years for reserves. In our HOA there is only a little swimming pool , that's been used by max 20 owners out of 200, and a little landscaping to be done, sidewalks and streets, less than 0.75 mile length. This is in the state of VA. They steal money without fear because the DA does nothing...plus, I believe that some money goes to help with keeping some people to the power in our town cities county etc

Can anyone say embezzled? Somebody needs to be arrested immediately and they need to be held in custody until this is settled to the satisfaction of the families. Meaning all of the money plus interest is returned. Things like this need watchers that check the account balance daily to insure it doesn't get stolen.

This cost of trusting other people to take care of the things for you will just get you bit every single time.
If it's your money then stop giving it to someone else to hold for you, banks are crocked and it's well known these days.

The Law or Government, or Government agency can intervene or get involved if their is questionable acts causing harm in some fashion to a vulnerable person. The question will be is can the government fix the problem or will it get worse?
The next question or issue the reason you get Legislators involved is to apply higher Government pressure to other agencies or even private agencies who don't want to piss off the government,
Also the reason to involve Legislators is if there was loop holes in the law that technically allowed the fraud to happen without any oversight or means to trigger some type of reviewing or audit then it needs to be dealt with. The more heat that is brought down on this terrible issue and hopefully they get so accounting as to all the individuals at fault and there comes some type of reckoning.

My friend's stepson was a vietnam vet. He came back really messed up and couldn't manage his life. He had been sprayed with agent orange. His mind was very kind, but not able to function normally anymore. He had a payee who did this for many clients. She ended up being sued and she won but they proved she charged him for any phone call he made to her, any time she called him, if she needed to call him back after she had just called him but forgot something and any time she paid a bill for him. She ended up taking his inheritance (over $2 million) and didn't have to show proof to anyone that she was doing anything at all. His mom brought phone records, bills, dr's appointments (she was scheduling him and then cancelling but still charging him for the act) and unlimited number of other things. A trial was scheduled to begin but unfortunately, he died 3 weeks after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Crap people doing these jobs and taking money for nothing from people who need it the most.
