Disposable Heroes is an anthem. Metallica at their most dangerous. The song is a masterclass of thrash perfection and the key changes you felt in the solo were wonderful to see you experience. It's hard to take this music in at first listen and we are all enjoying your journey with Metallica. They truly deserve the fame they have earned.

What's the most beautiful thing in Kirk's solo is there no exaggeration in solo. He plays the way the best and that best lies in the song. Not too many tones to show his knowledge, but only to amplify the whole song.

I was in the army then and this song affected me a lot. I started doing coke and weed and ended up in ccf for busting a piss test. I just kept looking around my friends and saying strange things like "we have been brainwashed since we were children to kill an imaginary enemy". So they ets'ed my three months early and gave me a plane ticket home. Three months later, I watched the invasion of Kuwait and thanked luck that I was so ate up. Shout out to the 423'd medical batallion. I love you guys.

I've been listening to this album for 36 years. I still get goosebumps, my dude. What I want to know is HOW IN THE HELL can reactors hear something like this and not immediately listen to everything they can find? That's what started my Metal journey and I couldn't get enough. Keep in mind... For me, it was pre-internet. We had to borrow or buy everything that we wanted to hear. Most radio didn't play heavy metal and MTV was hit and miss.

Well because if they listen to everything they can find without getting a patreon request or money donated first, they can’t claim it’s their first reaction 🤷‍♂️ just being honest either that or they do and lie faking their “first” time reaction to a song

Apparently he's slightly embarrassed by his higher register, but James' voice during the 80s was magic. He's really great now, too, at 60 but there's nothing like his early singing/screaming.

They never played it live when they were in their prime-at least, not after Cliff passed.I therefore have to disagree.. Live, Lars can’t keep up the double kick drums, Kirk is sloppy as hell, and James can’t maintain the whirling chainsaw of razor-wire vocals, as he could on the record, or he could back in 1986.

Seeing someone experience something you hold dear is an amazing feeling. I've listened to every single song Metallica has put out and Disposable Hero's is the greatest Thrash song they produced. The slow draw of the opening, modulation with tempo that pulls you in and the ending where you have no idea if they're going to keep going or stop playing. I grew up in a super conservative area. I had a modern literature class in high school, and one of the assignments was to bring in a recording of a protest song, along with lyrics for everyone to read. The teacher grew up as a 1960s hippie, and most of my classmates brought in hippie-era peace and love songs. I brought in Disposable Heroes. That made a lot of people uncomfortable!

“21, only son, but he served us well. Bred to kill, not to care, do just as we say. Finished here, greetings Death, he’s yours to take away”.
    No retreat:
“you will do as I say when I say - (get) back to the front”

If you're going to react to an album from start to finish I think you should do ...And Justice for All. One is the only song you've done off the album so far so most of them will be new for you. As amazing and groundbreaking as Master of Puppets is, this one is my favorite. There's just something about it. The themes they talk about are as relevant in today's climate as they were when it released in 1988. James' vocals somehow sound angrier. It's the most technically advanced playing they've done to date and the guitar tone is so satisfying to me. One thing to note though is that this was their first LP after Cliff Burton died, and Lars had the bass turned way down in the mix so you can kinda feel it but not really hear it. For some reason it just works for me and the raw sound produced just adds an extra layer to everything. Not really sure why.

For all those who criticize Lars Ulrich, they should listen carefully to the drum parts of this song. Not only he plays perfectly, the drums lines musically fit so perfectly.

For all the great that the song MOP is I prefer this because it’s more brutal and thrashy. Metallica at their Peak!!

I love "Master of Puppets." I'm 52 years old and I grew up in my teenage days with this album but let me make a suggestion, listen to the entire SANCTUARY album - Into the Mirror black "

Heh heh.....jeez dude! You looked totally spent after this one (and rightfully so)!
The one bummer about your Metallica journey is that you can only hear these songs for the first time ONCE. But then you get to move on to the live stuff (they are still cranking out live stuff as we speak). As you've seen, their live performances are on another level.
Can't wait for you to take in "Damage Inc." from this same album. They say it's something like 200+ beats per minute.....some crazy number like that.
Damage Inc.'s lyrics are brilliant as well. If the U.S. Navy Seals had a theme song, that would be it. It's a speeding ticket waiting to happen.
Great vid (as I knew it would be). Looking forward to the next upload.

Here's my take on album reactions. Yes. Every album has a vibe. Everyone can listen to the top songs and that in itself is awesome. But you lose the vibe. Not every song on an album will be a top 10 hit. But it's the ride,,, the vibe,,,, you can hear abs feel what the band is feeling and the connection makes the experience that much better. But do whatever,,, any METALLICA is good METALLICA 🤘🤘🤘

James is my guitar hero, even if they're not as good as before but the first 4 albums are masterpieces. When I think I was born in the same year, it makes me feel old but at the same time how much they were way ahead..

Keep going, finish the album, Master of Puppets is a unique experience. When you move on to other albums I'd say start at the beginning. Listen to them as they grew going from Kill 'Em All, to Ride the Lightning, to Master off Puppets and then to ... And Justice for All. Then I'd say go back and do live performances in Seattle, Moscow, Mexico City and so on.

i warned you about this song, i told you it will flip your brains. You have an ear for the guitar, you’re right this song has one of the fastest guitar strumming ever. The music and lyrics complement each other perfectly as in all Metallica songs but it is evident in this song more than others. i am not sure what to recommend next, but if you’re not going into albums yet i’d recommend that you take a leap in time and listen to something more recent from Metallica (not that more recent) but it will give you an idea of how they developed. It will show you how James’ voice developed and how he can use it and will make their music genius pop up more because what i’m recommending is a song played with and orchestra. I am madly in love with this song it’s tittled “No Leaf Clover”. One last thing, i don’t think anyone minds you pausing during the song that’s what reactions are all about but please please please try not to pause during a solo 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Now that you’ve done studio version I recommend this song from “live in Mexico City”. I love that performance of this song. FYI- they sound even better live but studio version is always best to start with.
