I saw Metallica open for Ozzy August 1986 tragically 1 month later one of the most talented bassist was tragically taken from us. It was a horrible day that ill never forget!! All the metal radio stations, MTV and headbangers ball etc..were all in remorse over the news. I cried so much, and then the thoughts... its over man. All news people were saying it....But Metallica said, No, we ain't done! We'll Never stop because we're Metallica!! I seen them 88 -89 AJFA tour...with Jason Newstead and it was killer, But I couldn't stop thinking about Cliff 😢. It was hard to swallow. But i kept with the boys, and i still love them as much as i did at 17-18. ❤🤘

As soon as the lights went out to start the show, people flowed like water from the grandstands and rows of chairs were being passed overhead. If you didn't keep up and pass them behind you, you were catching a row of chairs with your teeth. The massive 25 foot tall pile of chairs in the back of the arena was a cool sight. Great fun.

What we REALLY did was go smoke dope in the parking lot for four or five hours until we thought it was safe to go back and fire it up again. During the day the station read announcements about school plays and sports. But our late night show played THIS, Black Flag, weird Euro synth stuff and whatever we felt like. This album will forever be tied to that radio station in my memories.

It blows my mind they pulled this out in last years tour, it’s a hard ass song and they were very much younger when it first came out 😂

Still scratching my head every time i hear their KEA album to think that they're just on their teenage years when it was released..what a bunch of talents destined to form a group and to share their music to the world.. inspired many and will always be legends.. 🙏
    Teenagers nowadays......yeah you're right.

Sooooo, this record came out when i was 14. It was 1983. It was a "featured artist" at a Hastings Records store. You could listen to a sample track of it
MIND. FUCKING. BLOWN. This was a life changing album for me. Immediately bought it and took it home. Played the record while recording to cassette with my "jam box" (Google it. Lol)
After this, i was waiting in line (skipped school) when Ride The Lightning came out. Holy shit.
Few years later, I was in the Army in Colorado and won tickets on the radio to their show in Denver. Thus was "The Black Album" tour. They had a diamond shaped stage and we were "In the Snake Pit" (sitting inside the diamond. Best. Fucking. Show. EVER!! God i love this band. Lol

Old Metallica was great! I seen them in 1986 with Ozzy on the master of puppets/ ultimate sin tour, at the Worcester centrum, in Massachusetts. Cliff Burton was tragically killed on his tour bus while touring in Europe on that same tour. I did get to see him before he passed. Rip

I saw that tour in Detroit at Pine Knob. I was 16 and a rabid Ozzy fan. Metallica blew me away and became my favorite band that day. I was eight rows away from Cliff. I was mesmerized by the way he moved to the music, it made no sense to me because his movements didn't really jive with the song at all. He was an incredible bassist. R.I.P. Cliff! James Hetfield was the man back then. All the Metalheads wanted to be him and all of the Metalhead chicks wanted to be with him. Raw power from the whole band that only youth can provide. Later Ozzy told everyone to "Fuck this place up!" and the crowd began throwing lumps of soil from the grassy area towards the stage. After a while the whole band was running around trying not to get hit by the grass chunks! I heard that Ozzy had to pay around $30,000 in damages that he got the crowd to do. Ozzy freaking loved that shit, he was laughing his ass off the whole time! What a great show and it was only my second concert. I've been a fan of the Might Met ever since, and Ozzy is my spirit animal. Nights like that don't come around often but it did lead me to go to over 300 concerts in my day. I am going to see Godsmack in April and Cannibal Corpse/Obituary and Amon Amarth in May. I don't care if I end up in a wheel chair, I won't stop seeing bands live. Being a Metalhead is the most fun life anyone can have in my book!

@barrywalker673 9 i saw Godsmack 2x they are tight and sound Amazing live the drum battles will blow you away! Yes Ozzy was hilarious live way back when 86' but Metallica was a force to be reckoned with!! It was thrashs debut, and they steam rolled all that glam hair metal to its death! Lol I remember 8th grade writing disco sucks on my folder, with Judas Priest , Sabbath, Scorpions and Iron Maiden written in metal craziness all over it! I was 14. I knew I loved rock since 5th grade listening to Led Zeppelin, great memories! ❤

At 53 now, this song was my introduction to Metallica back in '85! And metal in general, really. After their And Justice For All album, I slowly started drifting more towards Slayer. And this is why. Lol

Hey brother, Metallica is my absolute favourite band, been listening to them since 1986, seem 11:54 them in concert and they never disappoint, don’t just get stuck on the early stuff … check out their last few albums as well… rob on bass is killer. They are still killing after all these years. Love your reactions to songs, I have requested a few and you played them and weren’t disappointed… also bro you gotta check out five finger death punch. Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada
