I saw Metallica open for Ozzy August 1986 tragically 1 month later one of the most talented bassist was tragically taken from us. It was a horrible day that ill never forget!! All the metal radio stations, MTV and headbangers ball etc..were all in remorse over the news. I cried so much, and then the thoughts... its over man. All news people were saying it....But Metallica said, No, we ain't done! We'll Never stop because we're Metallica!! I seen them 88 -89 AJFA tour...with Jason Newstead and it was killer, But I couldn't stop thinking about Cliff 😢. It was hard to swallow. But i kept with the boys, and i still love them as much as i did at 17-18. ❤🤘

Seattle 92 and metallica decided to place rows of connected chairs where the mosh pit and general admission should be. Bad idea and we weren't having it. As soon as the lights went out to start the show, people flowed like water from the grandstands and rows of chairs were being passed overhead. If you didn't keep up and pass them behind you, you were catching a row of chairs with your teeth. The massive 25 foot tall pile of chairs in the back of the arena was a cool sight. Great fun.

Being their debut album they hadn't totally discovered their own sound yet. They were relying on their musical influences more, like Diamond Head, Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy etc. Plus the Mustaine Factor!

Mustaine was a part of the band and wrote some of this stuff but was kicked out before they recorded kill em all. Metallica changed some of the stuff and improved it and came out with the best debut metal album of all time.

I saw them in the 80s on monsters ofvrock tour and when they did this song the whole stadium was vibrating. It was so hot they were spraying the crowd with fire hoses. Great times

LOL. I was in high school when this came out. I had "volunteered" for the school district radio station and took the last shift on Friday....which gave me a key to shut the station down. What we REALLY did was go smoke dope in the parking lot for four or five hours until we thought it was safe to go back and fire it up again. During the day the station read announcements about school plays and sports. But our late night show played THIS, Black Flag, weird Euro synth stuff and whatever we felt like. This album will forever be tied to that radio station in my memories.

Hey brother, Metallica is my absolute favourite band, been listening to them since 1986, seem 11:54 them in concert and they never disappoint, don’t just get stuck on the early stuff … check out their last few albums as well… rob on bass is killer. They are still killing after all these years. Love your reactions to songs, I have requested a few and you played them and weren’t disappointed… also bro you gotta check out five finger death punch. Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada

Stopped at 5:21. You said it feels more genuine, I agree. I would say it feels more raw, coming from the period when this was new. I remember being not much older than their age and trying to play this stuff. It was a workout and it required a lot of practice.

Last time I saw them was in Copenhagen 2022 (Lars hometown) - and they started the show with ths one. So many years later it's still one of the hardest bangers.

Whiplash was the first Metallica song I'd heard. Back in 1983 on a college radio station in Northern New Jersey. Hooked ever since.

This song was on the tracklist for Tony Hawk's underground 2, I would turn off every other song so this was the only song that played on repeat for hours at a time and I never got tired of it, awesome childhood memories

To this very day, my all-time favorite Metallica song 🤘 MollyBoy, imagine it being 1982/83 and no one had ever heard anything like "Kill em all" before. LEGENDARY

Nice reaction. Cool to see that you like both the old and the later stuff. :) Dave Mustaine was not in the band at this point. They kicked him out before they recorded this album. He never played on any of the Metallica albums.

Need to listen to all of Kill ‘em All. It’s an incredible album. Their debut album. It’s raw. Kids in a garage. Seek and Destroy is a must. Jump in the fire. No remorse.

In those days this was crazy heavy and refreshing at the same time. There was nothing like it and we headbanged as if our lives depended on it. 🤘🤘
