And the fact u stayed in college is helping me stay in college and work my ass off man. It’s hard at times but your content is a tru help. Bruh, you really did watch a bunch of Ned's Declassified for this huh. The editing really brought back memories and this looks great! I'm excited to see what else you do Edit to add: When you opening a patreon so I can throw money at you??
I was a music education major which is listed as one major but is the equivalent of a double major. I had 10-13 classes every semester EXCEPT my last one before student teaching. Past freshman year, I never had less than 20 hours and had to get double signatures for when I had 22.5 hours. On top of that, I was also in honor's college which meant more classes than just my major, more community service, and my honors thesis. So when I would hear the other freshmen girls in my dorm complain when they went from 4 classes to 6, I just sighed. It was well worth it and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. The performances, the disappointments, the achievements, the missing parties because I was in the practice room for hours, staying up drinking literally one beer with my upperclassman who kept me grounded, the amazing friends I met and the life long lessons I've endured... it was worth it. So if you love your major, or it's bringing you closer to something you're passionate about, I wish you the best and hope you keep going.
This is all very good advice, especially getting proper sleep. That's made all the difference for me. And I absolutely friggin love the editing in this vid.
I just started my senior of college last month and as a student who's gone through A LOT OF SH*T (cultural barrier, social anxiety, financial problems, loss in the family, low self-esteem/depression episodes...) This is THE BEST college survival guide I've watched on youtube. Following these tips seriously could actually make your time in college much better. You have to take care of yourself and I think that's what a lot of people forget to do. There's a lot of growth to do but most importantly, take your time to eat well, sleep well, try to make friends with people that are LIKE YOU and avoid toxic friendships at all costs. It'll take time to find balance. You will have to make sacrifices, but remember it's for the best. I wish I watched this video when I was a freshman- damn I talk a lot but I hope this helps at least one person
i can't give much advice on the stop comparing yourself. it's not an end goal. Be Able To Recognise When You're Comparing Yourself To Others. legit recognising it and recognising it as being unhealthy is literally the biggest part. and coffee. oof. if you like the taste then try get some decaffeinated. but if you're worried youre gonna rely on it instead of sleep then budget your caffeine intake. only allow yourself one a week or something along those lines. i'm only just getting into a routine after college (US highschool) and omg is it helpful. i actually set a solid bedtime so i have to be in bed at half ten and im slowly bring that time closer to nine cos i have to get up at five. i kind of had the ability to oversleep and miss half my year at college, i don't have that legroom now i have rent to pay. if you set these boundaries now, youre gonna rejnforce some good habits for yourself. also, not sleeping wreaks complete havoc on your mental health - my paranoia was unbearable and the lack of sleep set in motion a vicious cycle have faith in yourself, cos no one else is gonna care about you like you do
It there's no common interests, make common interests! My friends and I used to watch Game of Thrones every week together in his room. Then you don't have to have an actual conversation until after, and by then you already have something to talk about
Nathan! Can you please do Zeds Declassified on relationships?! Been watching u since you were in high school and I’ve always loved your videos! A good enough shirt was actually one of the first purchases I made with my own money when I got my first job a couple years ago, and it doesn’t really fit anymore but your video explaining how you thought of the brand because of your self doubt and overcoming it really speaks to me so I keep it around.Much love❤️
I guess the process is different for everyone, but your friend might want to try to figure out why they're lonely in the first place and then go from there?
@@lobstersoups2646 definitely join a club, event, group, organization, etc. it's terrifying at first to go alone and be vulnerable but once you meet your people, it'll change your college experience!!! it's how I turned my terrible freshman year into a much better sophomore and now junior year
Is getting involved in a romantic relationship a potential “distraction”? You couldn’t have uploaded this at a more fitting time dude, so glad you’re back 🤧
Hey! Can you talk about how to deal with mental health in college? I know I struggled with that a lot and I'm curious how you (and others) navigate that
In my case, i try my best to ignore it and do things that I know make me happy, even if I don't want to. Like be around people, even if I don't see them as friends (to mention something extreme). We just gotta pull through, fake it till...we remember we're faking. But enjoy the faking haha. This is how I try.
Most schools should have councellors and psychologists. I recommend going to talk to them - they can help you with school related things and if you need more support they can direct you forward. At least that's how it should work! Also if you have close friends, try to confide in them. If mental health gets in the way of your studies, prioritize your health! Discuss with your professors, they usually have seen all kinds of situations and are understanding, you can postpone deadlines and sometimes retake exams later. Just reach out - it's hard, especially if you haven't done it before, but you deserve to get help and your mental health is always ALWAYS more important than school.
My suggestion is not to push it off, try to address it early. I didn't prioritize it but it only got worse the more I ignored it (granted, I have a clinical disorder). If you can afford one, I suggest a therepist. If not, look at what resources are available on campus. Some have mindfulness groups or support groups. Also, if possible, try to establish relationships with your professors. They can be a lot of help if you have an ongoing relationship with them.
Personally, the way I've been handling it is a mix of seeking school counseling and googling EVERYTHING that concerns me. Like literally I would just type in "I can't stop thinking about death" or something. Although the counselors do help a lot, most of the work to recovery falls on you. Also tracking your moods and habits really help (see this video for more info but you don't have to be as extra as this guy lol ruclips.net/video/0tnX81N6Ris/видео.html ).
This is was so nice to watch I laughed on the train on my way to college lmaooo it helped a lot thank you for making this. I would recommend studying what excites you. What's the point in spending all this money if you hate it the entire time? I'm studying English and Education which I KNOW won't make me money, unless I get insanely lucky. But you know what? I love what I do and what I'm learning.

I am in college myself and I can say all of these pieces of advice are remotely accurate! Also, another tip, don't go into a major for anyone else, not your boyfriend, your friends or even your family. Go into a major that you are happy with and that you know you'd wanna do. Also, reach out to your campus advisor(s), they can help you find various resources that you might need. Also, the last tip, utilize your professor's office hours, your professors might open the door to you for internships, letters of recommendation and even just a support system while your in school, don't be afraid to meet with your profs, they aren't scary 9/10
