In my opinion, I think 'Why Charlie Brown Why' (1990) should be on this list just for how heartwarming is despite talking about a serious subject. I love how awesomely executed it is, and I kinda wish we saw Janice a little bit more throughout the series following the special, but she was absolutely perfect in that special in my opinion. 'Why Charlie Brown Why' cracks my top 5 on my list, right up there with the big 3 holiday classics. It's just that special to me. Now, I've never had leukemia before, but I know people who've had that and other forms of cancer. It's a scary and life threatening disease and I wish it never existed. Linus was absolutely unbelievably perfect in this special as well. That scene where he stood up to a bully who teased Janice for her baldness still gives me goosebumps. It really shows you how much the dude cares for Janice. I know that I definitely would've stood up to my friend if they were going through something like that. 'Why Charlie Brown Why' is such a phenomenal and underrated special that I totally recommend you watch, even though it's subject matter is rather dark.
@The Blessed Aspie I honestly have never seen 'It's Flashbeagle' in full, but I have seen shots of it, and it looks pretty interesting. Might check it out soon, but I don't know. Regarding 'Why Charlie Brown Why', that special is a masterpiece, and I'm glad you enjoy it as much as I do. Such an underrated and dark special from the franchise, I absolutely love it.
I'd rate the Thanksgiving special higher. There are Halloween specials and movies and bunches of Christmas ones but this is and planes trains and automobiles are the only Thanksgiving ones I can think of.
I'm 58 and I have watched the Xmas special, the Halloween special and the Thanksgiving special every year for over 50 years and I hope to continue this tradition with my grandchildren someday!
Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown is one of my all time favorites. Music is so good, and I’ve seen it enough times to even know the dialogue and when the music cues begin. It’s a Peanut special that I would look forward to watching when CBS/ABC had the rights to. I currently have it on DVD and it is still a fun watch.
Those 3 specials are a major traditon in my family every year. Whenever they would air on TV, we would always check them out. Maybe PBS will air all 3 this year. Last year, they aired Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & Charlie Brown Christmas.
"Christmas." Chris is my nAme, and NO one spells my name "X minus the t." We CAN spell the name out, we're educated adults... there's nothing offensive about Christ if you know what He is like and get to know Him, (though many so-called "Christians" can have TRULY offensive attitudes.) I try not to be lazy in how I spell and to encourage others to cherish their written languages and cultures, not to fall down on keeping them and following their beauty.
"It's Magic, Charlie Brown" is probably my favorite. While invisible, he messes with Lucy, which is what she deserves for making him miss the football every time
I'm surprised Charlie Brown's All Stars wasn't mentioned. It was underrated and I don't remember it being on TV too much. Charlie Brown's team walks out on him after losing every game. Not long after, Mr. Hennessy, a store owner, offers to sponsor the newly defunct team with uniforms. So the "blockhead" tells the gang and his team is back in action. The catch: no dogs or girls allowed on the team.
I was about to comment this as well. It was the second special, and it's also one of the most important. It also kind of has a sad ending, which I love. I like watching Peanuts to relate to my failure. I think I actually think I like it more than The Great Pumpkin.
I remember that special. Charlie Brown actually refused to kick the girls and Snoopy off the team. So that meant no uniforms. Later after the girls find out from Linus that Charlie Brown felt that they were more important then any uniforms they felt guilty about the way they treated him so then they made Charlie Brown a uniform from Linus's blanket. I'll never forget how Charlie Brown expressed tears of joy that the gang made something special for him.
I would replace Life’s a Circus, It’s Magic, and Celebration with There’s No Time for Love, It was a Short Summer, and Charlie Brown’s All-Stars; otherwise, a great list.
Here are my top 10 favorite Peanuts specials. 1. It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown 2. A Charlie Brown Christmas 3. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving 4. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown 5. There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown 6. It's Magic, Charlie Brown 7. Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown 8. You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown 9. Is this Goodbye, Charlie Brown? 10. It's a Mystery, Charlie Brown
I had A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) & It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! (1966) On VHS! I sadly never owned A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973) on VHS but I do remember very faintly watching the Special in Day Care when I was VERY Young...
Why is “Why, Charlie Brown? Why?” NOT on this list?!?!? And honestly I have soft spots for its Christmas time again and I want a dog for Christmas with Rerun.
That's surprising! Wonder why it wasn't on the list? I saw that on RUclips and It was good, Janice recoverd from leukemia and went into remission and got well, Wonder why it wasn't on the list? 🤔
I remember the first time I saw the great pumpkin special. It was a year old. It’s just the scene where Snoopy is in enemy territory that I remember and it’s one of my earliest memories.
In A Charlie Brown Celebration I remember how the story ended where Charlie Brown ended up in the hospital. When Lucy made a vow to never pull the football away again Charlie Brown miraclessy recovered. Lucy did keep her promise. She didn't pull the football away but Charlie Brown missed the ball and kicked her hand actually breaking it! The last scene we see Lucy with her hand bandaged up and she was still mad about it!
The fact that it repeats the same action at least three times really indicates how they were stretching the plot. The movie itself was considered a box office bomb.
Great list! I’ve seen a great deal of Peanuts specials, even the ones that are either forgotten or despised by the masses. It’s really nice to see someone else’s take on them. Call me crazy, but I feel like Charles Schulz was the Mr. Rogers of cartoons in more ways than one. He told kids the raw, open and honest truth about our everyday lives (whether or not he realized it), he gave us characters that were human in every sense of the word (except for Snoopy and Woodstock, of course) and he did so in a way that wasn’t condescending or talked down to them, unlike 95% of children’s entertainment that continues to reign supreme today. Like Mr. Rogers, Charles Schulz knew what he was doing, and he knew how to do it the right way. ❤️
I live in Minnesota and grew up during the time when the Theme Park at Mall of America was Knott’s Camp Snoopy. There was a little store where we would buy VHS tapes. It’s great to see a lot of stuff I grew up on on this list.
Thomas & Friends, Regular Show, Winnie the Pooh, Garfield, Duck Dynasty, & AFV (America's Funniest Videos) also have Thanksgiving specials along with Charlie Brown.
Charles Schulz is an angel of God when Linus explains the birth of Christ Charles Schulz explained the celestial fact that Jesus Christ is our Lord and savior an annual treat for us all I freaking love it
Why would the little red harried girl write him a note and sign it as Little Red Haired Girl, her name is Heather, as we find out in the end of one of the specials where Charlie Brown is King of the school dance and Heather is the Queen, he danced with her and couldn't remember, Linus told him all about it at the end of the episode.
In that special It's Your First Kiss Charlie Brown he wasn't a king. Heather was Homecoming Queen but Charlie Brown was her escort. Linus, Franklin, Schroeder, and Pig-Pen were escorts for the princesses. I remember that their schools tradition was that Charlie Brown was supposed to escort Heather onto the dance floor. Then just before the first dance started he was supposed to kiss her on the cheek. It's surprising that he remembered nothing else after the kiss until Linus tells Charlie Brown all the details the next day.
My Top 10. 10-There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown, 9-It's a Mystery, Charlie Brown, 8-You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown, 7-He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown, 6-Your in Love, Charlie Brown, 5-Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown, 4-It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown, 3-It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, 2-A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, 1-A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Here's my top 10.
Most of the specials on your list are pretty good. The only one I don't like is He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown because it is very mean spirited even by Peanuts standards. I think it's a little more mean spirited than It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown. Also, Peppermint Patty is so out of character in this special. However, I respect your opinion.
I rank them by their soundtracks. 1-Christmas, 2-Halloween, 3-Thanksgiving. The rest don't have much original Guaraldi, just mostly new arrangements of the same stuff.
"You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown" is a diamond in the rough: top-notch animation (case in point: the tennis scene), a good story, and one of Vince Guaraldi's best (IMHO) scores.
My favorites are definately: A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving A Charlie Brown Christmas It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown You’re elected Charlie Brown Be My Valentine Charlie Brown The one where Peppermint Patty figure skates.
The low-key timbre of your voice makes these really enjoyable. It's like listening to a show narrated by "Buck the Dog" from Married...With Children. Seriously, that's meant as a compliment.
Wow! Thanks dude! I don't think I have a great narrating voice, as I often have to rerecord my lines and I don't have the best recording equipment. All the same, I do my best to make sure my voice is audible.
My top 10: 1. Charlie Brown Christmas (ofc) 2. Great Pumpkin (ofc) 3. Be my Valentine, Charlie Brown 4. It’s the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown 5. Happy New Year Charlie Brown (I don’t think it’s that bad despite the unfair blame) 6. Bon Voyage Charlie Brown 7. Snoopy Come Home 8. It’s magic Charlie Brown 9. It’s an adventure, Charlie Brown 10. Snoopy the musical (I put it so low because of the song about snoopy’s story, it’s like 10 minutes and that’s way too long for one song.)
In my eyes, Why Charlie Brown Why is my personal favorite not just in Peanuts, but media and Film! I know that’s a hot take but it’s basically a film I associate with my life!
My top 3 Charlie brown are number one, a Charlie brown Christmas, number two,it the great pumpkin Charlie brown, and number 3 a Charlie brown Thanksgiving.
My top 10: 10. It's your frist kiss charlie brown 9. Is this goodbye charlie brown 8. He's your dog charlie brown 7. A charlie brown thanksgiving 6. Its Christmas time again charlie brown 5. Youre not elected charlie brown 4. Charlie browns all stars 3. Be my Valentine charlie Brown 2. Its the great pumpkin charlie brown 1. A charlie brown chirstmas
Your list included a couple I hadn't seen; I'll have to look them up! I was a little surprised to see Happy New Year Charlie Brown left out. It's not brilliant but it's a fun watch.
Oh look, all of the well known holiday specials (It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Be My Valentine Charlie Brown, and It's the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown) are on the list. Makes perfect sense, as ABC airs them every single year (Easter Beagle doesn't air every year for some reason however). By the way, I think that ABC should air You're in Love Charlie Brown after Be My Valentine Charlie Brown instead of the not very good A Charlie Brown Valentine.
One of my top favorites is You're in the Superbowl Charlie Brown. I also like Bon Voyage Charlie Brown and Race for your life Charlie Brown. But the Easter Beagle will allways be my Favorite
I believe I've seen all of these. And many others also. Er, you DO realize some birds do feed on other birds in real life?? The bit about Woodstock eating turkey is absurd IMHO. Otherwise, 👍
Woodstock isn't a cannibal just because he was eating turkey. Woodstock is a very different different bird species, whatever species he is. It's like saying humans are cannibals for eating beef or pork because cows and pigs are also mammals.
I personally would've had It Was A Short Summer, Charlie Brown, Why, Charlie Brown? Why?, and There's No Time For Love, Charlie Brown on this list, or at least as honorable mentions.
My Topic 10° happy New year Charlie Brown(horrible) 9° your in love Charlie Brown(boring) 8° charlie Brown all stars(cool) 7° its flashbeagle Charlie Brown(good) 6° there is no time for love Charlie Brown(incredible) 5° a Charlie Brown thanksgiving(why i put This in fifth place ?, I didn't even watch) 4° your a good Man Charlie Brown (awsome) 3° for auld Lang syne (THE BEST) 2° its the great pumpkin Charlie Brown(THE BEST) 1° a Charlie Brown Christmas(GOD)
Heidi Fedor I think your missing the point of the special. What you eat for Thanksgiving doesn't matter if you spend it with the ones you love. If Snoopy had just cooked turkey and all was solved in 5 minutes Peppermint Patty would have just been like "Wow! What a great meal Chuck. You really outdid your self.", she wouldn't have realized the true meaning. This way, they showed that after being dissapointed Charlie Brown and Linus were good friends for inviting him. Also turkey takes a long time to cook. Maybe jellybeans, toast and popcorn were all they could make on short notice. Even if the turkey was already cooking, it still could have been 2 hours till it was ready b4 Patty came over. I hope that helped you.
I haven’t watched the Halloween one every year, i did when i was really young, and I watched it again a little bit after last Halloween and I’m going to probably watch it every year now
I saw you had be my valentine on the list. What is your opinion of "a charlie brown valentine" from 2002. What about "I want a dog for christmas charlie brown" from 2003
I kind of thought both of those were middle-of-the-road, average specials. With A Charlie Brown Valentine, there's not very much it does that Be My Valentine didn't do already. I Want a Dog for Christmas was okay.
Out of all the peanuts specials, I mainly like a Charlie Brown Christmas, it’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown, a Charlie Brown thanksgiving, be my valentine Charlie Brown, it’s the Easter beagle Charlie Brown, it’s magic Charlie Brown, a Charlie Brown valentine (sort of), Lucy must be traded Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown’s Christmas tales and I want a dog for Christmas Charlie Brown. I also like the movie from 20th century fox and blue sky studios too.
im kinda sad ive never seen any of these specials, when i asked my mom if she got to watch any cartoon adaptations of any comic like peanuts, she said we only had...live action. so i guess i wont be able to find anyhting unless there is a recovered version on youtube.
The Great Pumpkin was my #1 favorite because it was the funniest in my opinion. The scene with Shroder playing WWl tunes and Snoopy sniffling should have been included. Charles Schulz created that running gag to be about a kid jumping the gun on Christmas. Shows about "the real meaning of Christmas" wear thin since Christmas is a pagan tradition and the revelry fits in. It's a party, Charlie Brown.
Look at it this way on thing can evolve from on thing and become it's own Creature. Christmas grew into it's own entity. Sure December 25 wasn't littetally when Jesus was born but it is still nice to recognize the moment.
Unpolular opinion but..............."Its The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is better than "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Christmas might be more wholesome, but Great Pumpkin for me is not only a lot funnier, but a lot more quoteable. Like sure Christmas has some iconic quotes, but in "Great Pumpkin", it feels like EVERY line of dialogue is iconic.
There's a very specific special I'm looking for in which Charlie Brown says, "No one's ever going to miss me. I don't do anything right." Wondering if anyone could help me.
In my opinion, I think 'Why Charlie Brown Why' (1990) should be on this list just for how heartwarming is despite talking about a serious subject. I agree! It’s my favorite film of all time!
@@waterdive122productions6it’s my favorite film period! I adore it!
there was a school election show that was hilarious...
You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown
You know I just realized something, Schroeder is a better friend than Linus is.
7:01 charlie sounds so menacing when he taunts it's kinda scary in a way.
I'd rate the Thanksgiving special higher. There are Halloween specials and movies and bunches of Christmas ones but this is and planes trains and automobiles are the only Thanksgiving ones I can think of.
Michael England Don't forget Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant. The movie was ok but the 18 minute song is a classic, based on a true story.
Actually Rankin-Bass did do one Thanksgiving special called "Mouse on the Mayflower", narrated by Tennessee Ernie Ford.
And the movie where they go BACK IN TIME to the FIRST THANKSGIVING to take TURKEYS OFF THE MENU
If you know, you know
Charlie Brown has 2 Thanksgiving specials under his belt: A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving & This is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers.
Woodstock eating a Turkey? = CANNIBALISM :D
THE DOUBLE D DISTURBING SCENE FROM ED EDD N EDDY
Yuck.
It's not cannibalism, birds eat other types of birds a lot in the wild.
It’s-it’s.. BIRDIBALISM !!!!
Is it any different than seeing Donald Duck and his nephews eat turkey?
Fun fact: at the moment when Linus reads "Do not be afraid" in the Christmas special, he shows it by dropping his security blanket.
I'm 58 and I have watched the Xmas special, the Halloween special and the Thanksgiving special every year for over 50 years and I hope to continue this tradition with my grandchildren someday!
Snoopy RULES. Case closed!
Xmas, Halloween, and Thanksgiving are my favorites. Xmas is a timeless classic, and the one emphasizing Linus as the voice of reason.

Linus is always great.
You're a good man, Charlie Brown is incredibly underrated
"It's Magic, Charlie Brown" is probably my favorite. While invisible, he messes with Lucy, which is what she deserves for making him miss the football every time
I had it as a bonus feature on the great pumpkin dvd
I'm surprised Charlie Brown's All Stars wasn't mentioned. It was underrated and I don't remember it being on TV too much. Charlie Brown's team walks out on him after losing every game. That sounds pretty heartfelt
The great pumpkin and Christmas special make those holidays, holidays to me
I would replace Life’s a Circus, It’s Magic, and Celebration with There’s No Time for Love, It was a Short Summer, and Charlie Brown’s All-Stars; otherwise, a great list.
Sorry his opinion
I grew up watching the peanuts from Halloween to Christmas, I even loved them in the comics😊❤

I remember the first time I saw the great pumpkin special. It was a year old. It’s just the scene where Snoopy is in enemy territory that I remember and it’s one of my earliest memories.
Race for your life, Charlie Brown's one of my personal favorites
In A Charlie Brown Celebration I remember how the story ended where Charlie Brown ended up in the hospital. When Lucy made a vow to never pull the football away again Charlie Brown miraclessy recovered. Lucy did keep her promise. Why was Snoopy kicking Linus in the shins? That's mean!
@@melissacooper4282 Sometimes friends get on each other's nerves.

There was a Back to School Special that I always enjoyed -- well, as much as possible at that very sad time of year -- when I was little
This is one of my dads. Favorites and mine to .
The last Peanuts special was in 2011. I wonder if we'll ever get another one.
Your list included a couple I hadn't seen; I'll have to look them up! I was a little surprised to see Happy New Year Charlie Brown left out. It's not brilliant but it's a fun watch.
Great video. I've never heard of some of those at the beginning of the video but they will be fun to look up.
Woodstock is kind of a cannibal
Great job, thank you for the effort.
🤣👍🏻yes Peanuts is amazing and hey I agree, these are great!
I expect Charles Schulz and people to remade the peanuts moments to normal or something at this time
now in 2023, you got to have apple TV, if you want to see Charlie Brown specials. 😐
By the way, I think that ABC should air You're in Love Charlie Brown after Be My Valentine Charlie Brown instead of the not very good A Charlie Brown Valentine.
the great pumpkin should have been number one!
The cartoon Mighty B had a Thanksgiving episode.
One of my top favorites is You're in the Superbowl Charlie Brown. I also like Bon Voyage Charlie Brown and Race for your life Charlie Brown. But the Easter Beagle will allways be my Favorite
A boy named Charlie Brown was a very overlooked special. To me its number 4 after the Chrismas Halloween and Thanksgiving ones.
The best peanuts movie is a boy named Charlie Brown.
What are your thoughts on the 2015 movie?
My Topic
10° happy New year Charlie Brown(horrible)
9° your in love Charlie Brown(boring)
8° charlie Brown all stars(cool)
7° its flashbeagle Charlie Brown(good)
6° there is no time for love Charlie Brown(incredible)
5° a Charlie Brown thanksgiving(why i put This in fifth place ?, I didn't even watch)
4° your a good Man Charlie Brown (awsome)
3° for auld Lang syne (THE BEST)
2° its the great pumpkin Charlie Brown(THE BEST)
1° a Charlie Brown Christmas(GOD)
Why didn’t Snoopy serve the turkey at the original dinner?

I don’t the plot works since Charlie is a kid, how is he even supposed to serve an accurate dinner
You're in love Charlie Brown is definitely one of my all-time favorites
Why isn't why Charlie Brown Why? in three?????????????????????????
kitty cat WHY???
Great list, though I feel you glossed over why, charlie brown, why.
Top 10? I didn’t even know there were that many.
There are lots of Peanuts specials but for some reason only a few of them still air on TV
Sam Feldstein
Top 10 suggested there are dozens. I can't believe that I've missed that many.
I haven’t watched the Halloween one every year, i did when i was really young, and I watched it again a little bit after last Halloween and I’m going to probably watch it every year now
11:20 Snoopy's a little backstabber!
Also, Woodstock's not a turkey so him eating a turkey is okay. After all, humans eat the flesh of other mammals.
Great top 10! :D
My favorite is Charlie Brown’s all stars
What is your opinion of "your the greatest charlie brown"
Elena Lynch I thought it was a pretty good special. Not Top 10 worthy, but still good.
Thanks for your opinion on the matter.
Be my valentine Charlie Brown is one of the best ckasisc
Now, you should rank all 5 peanuts movies, as well as the episodes of this is America, Charlie Brown.
What is your opinion of You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown? I love it.
It was okay.
What I like about that 1 is that Charlie Brown emerges victorious in the motocross race.
Thomas & Friends had a Thanksgiving episode.
my favorite charlie brown special is why charlie brown why
I love this ranking but three and four should be switched around. Otherwise I agree with this ranking 100%
There's a very specific special I'm looking for in which Charlie Brown says, "No one's ever going to miss me. I don't do anything right."
Wondering if anyone could help me.
Personally, I like Great Pumpkin more than a Charlie Brown Christmas.
