loved your video @erikathegoober I don't have many books but the one I love is this one got in Japan when I visited it's called Illustration 2019 its big book with a girl on a motorcycle on it. The reason I love it is because it is like a phonebook or yellow pages for artists. It has their websites sample arts and Instagram as well as twitters accounts linked and its 150 people so I just love looking at the different types of arts there are and personality.
My current favorite book to thumb through is/are the Loish books, she has an amazing viewpoint and her artwork is impeccable! I have collected Art books for years so my favorite is always the one that I just got! I have over 200 books so I am always looking back through them when I am looking for some inspiring ideas.
Omg yes I completely agree with you! I always thought if I really have to do line art on top of my sketch because everyone is doing it? I always like my original sketch than the final line art.
cleaning up the sketch is an amazing idea :O I always get discouraged cause the linear doesn't look like my sketch and often just end up deleting everything, I have to try it!
After watching this several times I’m starting to apply the instructions. Now, how do you choose the base color? Like here you first used a kinda orange
You can pick any color since you'll color on top of it with your clipping masks! I usually pick warm tones just because that's what I like! The main thing is you want to completely cover the silhouette of your character without leaving any holes in it. That's why I hide the line layers, to make sure I didn't miss anything!
Love your channel already. This is the first video I have ever watched and I am already a subscriber. I will comment on every single new video you make to show that I am still here for you!! ❤️
Thank you!! Finally someone explained colouring the lines :D I was always so stumped on how to do it and didn’t even know where to start lol thx again!
Oh yes! The thing about loosing the feel of the drawing with the new lineart! that happens me way too much! Thank you for the tip, i will try it out :)
we loved refreshing on using PS for digital art, this tutorial was so helpful and you are a natural at making tutorial vids x) we definitely can't wait to watch more and do more digital painting xD new friends here for sure! xD
I really appreciate that you made this video! Since I myself is starting digital art, this really helps! Even though I don’t use Adobe PhotoShop (I assume that’s the art program you’re using?) this still helps me a bunch! Thank you so much, Erika! ❤️🌷❤️🌷
Thanks for sharing your process! I love the colours you chose and was wondering if you'd make a video about choosing skin tone colours? My skin shading sometimes look muddy or too red and it's rly difficult to get the colours just right.
At 2:06 you started adding the colors but I see that you made more than one layer for color and that when you start painting the sketch, it doesn't paint out of your sketch. Could you explain what these different layers of colors are? I understand that you have one layer for different parts of the sketch like hair, clothes, etc but you didn't mention why you have like two different layers of the same orange base color. thx
hanna staudinger oh! The light orange base layer was for the leaves in the background! If I made those part of the base layer for the girl, my clipping mask layers would color on the leaves too! Does that help?
I find that flipping the canvas gives me a new perspective and makes it easier for me to spot my mistakes! I do this pretty often, especially during the sketch step!
What is your favorite art book? 📚🎨

Omg saaaaaaame 😭 I don’t like my line work and prefer my sketches, so I’m gonna try this approach of cleaning the sketch instead.

I love the swedish illustrator Sven Nordqvist and the book ”Pancakes for Findus”. His illustrations are full of tiny details and wimsy characters. :)

I actually don't have any art books but I would like to start my collection. I was thinking of buying either the Tangled art book or Frozen ll.

@erikathegoober Love your videos is there any specific brushes that you used for Photoshop to paint or draw?
Thank you! Very useful tips

Cute.. 😍
What brush did you use for the sketch?
Hello can i ask what brushes ur using? im just new with the digital art thing hahaha thanks a lot!
I have a question, when you do cleanup how do you like blend or color the lines, I have so much trouble with that?
Me wanted to know what app or what digital art website do you use? Cause i wanted to draw too, idc if it is expensive, I WANNA DRAW AGAIN!
Wow, I have this drawing in a diamond painting from DIAMOND art club.
Ok. Where have you been my whole life?
How did the clipping mask applie to different parts of the drawing when you coloured the entire drawing in one colour and layer
Meerab You make a clipping mask for each section, one for the hair, one for skin, one for clothes etc
which brushes you use for painting like this?
What are your Favoriten brushes and for what.
You mentioned that you liquefied the image when making adjustments. What part did you liquefy? thx
What art style is this!
what brush do you use?
@erikathegoober why do you flip the canvas horizontally??
I find that flipping the canvas gives me a new perspective and makes it easier for me to spot my mistakes! I do this pretty often, especially during the sketch step!
what brush did you use
i got lost during the clean-up part. Did you remove your lines?
How long did this take you to make
What brush is that
Hi
I need tutorials on how to draw faces like eyes nose mouth the full think 😂
What Brush do you use in this video?
Do you have anything for drawing on a mobile app?
what is a clipping mask?
But wait.... how are you moving things around like the eyes and mouth?
Little too fast
